It happens to all of us; we grow up and our parents grow old. Sad but true. A month ago my mom was living near me in the Arlington Heights area, that's in IL, and my mom could barely afford monthly rent on a small, run down apartment that I would never live in myself. It was time to look for a better place but more affordable, so we found Countryside in Rochelle. They were all so very nice, helped my mom with every step in the process from the initial application to the social security paperwork. There is a waiting list which can take a while, but it's totally worth it. My mom now has a nicer, larger apartment at Countryside and pays less in rent. Thank you Countryside!

High Meadows Apartments is under management of a wonderful woman named Marty. She is very kind and loves to have personal chats with her residents. She is very quick to take care of any issues that come up and always does it with a smile. She truly cares about everyone here. The income requirements on the lease agreements here are much less demanding than the six other properties I checked out in the NIU area. Ownership has recently changed and much so for the better. As soon as the new owner came in, a new fence was constructed which separates the train tracks from the apartments now giving it a rich new aesthetic in addition to greater security. Many units are at the moment being remodeled with new appliances and flooring (eventually all will be renovated). New Feldco windows are also being equipped for all units. Pros Very personable staff Location - It's on the west side edge of town, perfect for those who enjoy the country scenery, but also a stones throw from the NIU campus and downtown area. The back roads just west of the apartments are amazing for bicycle rides, walks, sunrises/sunsets, etc. I wish I could upload pictures. Rent - affordable rates for clean, quality apartments. My apartment has a brand new large refrigerator and brand new water heater. Laundry appliances are also available in each building for $1.25 wash and another $1.25 to dry. Available now are studios ($450/month) and 1 bedroom ($535/month). Water and heat included. Stove, heaters, and AC run on electric. My bill is usually $20/month WiFi - High Meadows does not at least for the moment supply free WiFi but there are networks aplenty! Pet friendly Quiet and friendly neighbors Balcony spaces available Cons Trains - I actually don't consider this a con but I'm guessing some or many people would. A number of freight trains run behind High Meadows all throughout the day and night. Sometimes every 15 minutes, sometimes not for every couple of hours. I think only some buildings are affected by this. My first night I found the noise to be so ridiculous that I couldn't help but laugh. They last up to a minute and a half and sometimes screech to a halt, but I NEVER lose any sleep over it. I got used to it immediately. Move here. -Ryan

Now, in the city, most realtors or leasing agents would just say, "sorry kid, you're out of luck," and then just move on to the next lead. Not Nancy! She kept looking and found us an even nicer place! She was really friendly, and extremely easy to work with. They have an older property but have done a good job at maintaining their grounds. They have probably one of the nicest swimming pools I have seen at an apartment complex, however I never used it. Their rates are a little high in my opinion, and would have never moved if I didn't get a new job an hour north of there. The long drive and tolls were gauging me! Dorris the manager is a sweetheart and was always helpful, so were the maintenance team members. Kathy was always very nice to me too... I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a really quiet community. The downfall is that I drive a motorcycle and shared a spot with my car (which is logical so I free up more parking spots) but certain old, cranky, and miserable neighbors with nothing better to do were upset because I always parked in a spot where I could see from my balcony. Without having a garage to park in, I didn't like my brand new Harley Davidson out of my viewpoint. Also do NOT park in the fire lane, NOT EVEN FOR 10 MINS. N.A.P.D., are douchebags with nothing better to do than to ticket your car while you are unloading groceries. I received 2 tickets while living there when my car had the hazards on and the trunk open....smh. Then when my car had gotten plowed into in the parking lot by a fellow tenant who didn't see me that ripped my whole bumper off, N.A's finest refused to come out and fill out a police report because it was "private property!!!!!" Double standards, but nothing against CVW... Just saying, "watch out!"
