Honestly, I wasn't sold on this place when my roommates found it. Heard it was a party place. Wasn't that way at all. We haven't had a problem with noise or parties the entire year and I've felt really safe living here. The way things are going in Dekalb this is a huge thing, especially for my parents. It seems like management is always doing something to improve the property. They added security cameras and locks on the all building doors recently, which is awesome. They seem to really care about the property and the residents here. When our upstairs neighbor flooded their apartment and it leaked down into ours maintenance was right there, even though it was a Sunday, getting fans set up to dry things out and they were back first thing on Monday morning to check in, fix the problem upstairs, and they had the drywall cut out and fixed in the ceiling by the end of the week. One of the better places to live in Dekalb. read more

I lived in this complex for two years and I'm left with nothing but good things to say. If it weren't for relocating closer to work, I wouldn't have left. Brittany and Jessica in the office have been wonderful to work with over the years - quick to respond, always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. From the day I started my application process, before I was even a tenant, I felt welcomed into the community. Maintenance was always on top of fixing issues, although I didn't have many in my time here. The unit was very affordable, large, clean, no issues with bugs. Even though I'm not a student, the free computer lab was so convenient! I wish I didnt have to leave, highly recommend this apartment complex! read more

Avoid moving here at all costs, residents are grimey, and the complex is always dirty with trash scattered in the grass and parking lot. Then just to top it all off, management is horrible and seems to not care about any problems relating to residents. Even if you ignore the problems with residents stealing packages, stealing items out of cars, and being overall uncleanly (throwing trash off of their balconies, making messes/leaving trash bags out in the hallways, throwing trash out in the parking lot, etc.) This complex is still a terrible place to live. Management does not take very good care of the property, there are constant problems with the old and barely functioning appliances in the apartment, and if you have a problem in any form, do not expect management to care or help any time soon. There have been incidents of people letting their pets poop in the hallways, kids smearing hot sauce on the walls in the hallway, people stealing hundreds of dollars in packages from me directly out of the mail room, and much more. All of which management simply did not care about, they do not take care of the property, and ignore any problems that residents face. I can't wait for my lease to end so I can get out of here. If you value you your quality of life at all, I'd steer clear of this place. read more

The deciding factor for my roommates and I when we choose Eco Park was James, the former manager. He was great to work with, even when we were having issues. For example, on move in day we had to sign the lease before seeing the actual unit we were assigned. Big mistake. The place was filthy. Vomit stains on the carpet, dirt build up in the showers, holes in the walls, torn window screens, and a broken hot water heater. Within two weeks James had the carpets replaced (not the padding underneath. Gross), painters out, and a repair guy to fix the heater. He made the place livable. Two months into our lease James left. Now we have to deal with two new people in the management office (Jessica and Joe) both if whom are incredibly rude. Our ancient dishwasher broke and it was three weeks before a new one arrived. Simple questions are met with attitude. I get a lot shoulders shrugged and being told to just wait they'll do their jobs when they are good and ready. As far as the community is concerned, I thought Eco Park would be quieter than other parts of dekalb because of its distance from Greek row. I was wrong. There is consistent party noise, dunken screaming, and horns honking through the night all days of the week. The buildings smell of dirt and pot. I was not a happy resident this past year. The reason for two stars instead of one is that compared to other units in the area, you do get more bang for your buck here. The units are spacious and the rent is actually about right once you consider the utilities included. There aren't any great options for renting in the Dekalb area. This one isn't horrible if you go in with your eyes open and don't expect a lot. read more

So glad my lease FINALLY ended. What a long year that was! Based on the tour my roommates and I received prior to signing with Eco Park we were so pumped to move in, but that excitement did not last very long. The management is TERRIBLE, no one in there seems to know what they are doing or how to be polite. Our washer flooded not once, not twice, but THREE times before they decided to stop blaming us and actually fix the problem. Turns out the whole unit needed to be replaced, which they did, but they refused to do anything about the wet carpet and water damage to the walls. Towards the end of my lease my roommates received an eviction notice stating that they did not pay the full amount of rent. They argued this and were told they needed to pay within 5 days. After paying to avoid being evicted, the management finally realized that they were wrong and had to credit my roommates for the money they were told was missing. These were just a few of my favorite issues we had with them among many others. The one star I gave goes to the maintenance men! They were so kind, timely, and sure to get your problems fixed! read more

First off terrible management, how do you mix me up especially when I moved out years ago to someone else's file. National credit systems sent me a letter talking about you owe Eco $3131 for your old apartment unit two when I lived in unit four. My name is Kenneth and the person who lived in the unit two name is Kentrel and they add my last name to him what the hell. Plus they added my birthdate and Social Security Number to that person's file. It took them a few days to get it straight but one minute to ass up. All I know is that when I call National credit systems this shit better not hit my credit. Eco park was messing up when I live there and assed all the way up years after I moved out. Wow really y'all are a damn shame!!! So glad I moved away from Dekalb and this badly ran apartment complex . Lose my parents address and lose my damn Social Security Number and also train your team better to not mess up documents and put the right name on shit. I made one of the worst decisions of my life renting with Eco Park for a year. The apartments ARE NOT maintained at all, excessively dirty when you move in, and the property manager has "no power to help you" So what's her job then?! Our appartment flooded because of a malfunction old washing machine, and instead of replacing the carpet, they "got it cleaned" by some 20 year old dude who left the carpet still super wet, their solution? Put 2 of the loudest, biggest fans in our apartment so we could neither talk, study or watch TV for 5 days straight. We both suffered from headaches and the appartment never smelled right again after, because the carpet was moldy. They then had the audacity to charge us a carpet cleaning fee when we moved out, after we have been reassured MULTIPLE times by different employees that the carpet was a health hazard and will be replaced. New flash: it wasn't. The last slap was when my roommate and I were charged $55 extra in cleaning fees for the oven and fridge. We had taken pictures of how spotless we cleaned the appartment during move out because we knew Eco Park is shady, and they STILL tried to tell us they "couldn't do anything" about the fee....so done with this shady "business." They will be hearing from the city and the BBB. Please don't make the mistake of renting from this business, save yourself the trouble, pay the extra $$ and rent ANYWHERE ELSE!! read more

My roommates and me live here while attending NIU for university. We are international students and it's good place to live because there are other international students. Sometimes, it is raucous but the office directed us to call the police and the noise stopped. We split the rent and it is cheap and they even gave us a special last summer when we signed the lease. I got faster internet from Comcast to upgrade for working on complex coding, but the cable and wifi are free with rent. We like apartment and plan to stay in senior year. I have no problem. We haven't even been here a month and I am ready to break my lease. My husband and I moved here with our 3 kids in an effort to save money to buy our own house next year. The day we moved in we walked into the apartment with one of the men from the office his name was Sean. The apartment was an absolute disaster! There was something sticky spilled all over the back of our front door, there were a set of broken blinds laying on our kitchen floor, The countertops in the kitchen had food and crumbs and empty pop cans on them, The door in our hallway Had a huge hole punched in it, In one of the bedrooms the light had a blue light bulb in it, In one of our bathrooms there was pee all over the toilet seat and a stool left in the bathroom, There is a huge foot print on our ceiling (How does that even happen???), I am sure I am forgetting something but I think you get the idea. It was an absolute disaster when we moved in. The assistant property manager Jessica in the office is a complete bitch! She made it seem like it was our fault that the apartment was a disaster. Because we had come too early even though we came when the office opened. The gentleman we dealt with that morning, Sean was extremely professional and very apologetic for the condition of the apartment. The property manager, Kevin was not there the day we moved in but immediately contacted my husband that following Monday. He was so helpful. Now fast forward a few weeks and our AC has stopped working (on a Friday night). I called the office 1st thing Saturday morning. I was told to call the emergency maintenance line. When I called the number the message said to leave a message with my apartment number and the problem. However the voicemail Box was full and I could not leave a message. I kept calling until finally somebody called me back. The kid that called me back did not seem bothered by the fact that the voicemail Box was full he said he already knew that. He told me that it was not an emergency and he Would be by maybe Monday or maybe Tuesday. I told him that was ridiculous! An hour later he showed up unannounced to my apartment. He told me my pipes were frozen On the air conditioner outside. When he left my husband went and checked it out. There was absolutely nothing frozen. It is now Monday morning and by 8:30 in the morning it was already over 80ﾟ in my house. That is with all the windows and fans going. I have 3 children here one being a 1 year-old with asthma. The heat can give her an asthma attack. I have already talked to the office and nobody has shown up to look at my air-conditioner. Run, run far away from this place! The model apartment you will be shown looks absolutely nothing like the actual apartments. The hallways to the apartment building are disgusting and reek of marijuana. I mean unless a contact high is your thing... And if you still want to come here try your best to stay away from that evil, condescending bitch Jessica in the office. I cannot wait until my lease is up or we are able to break our lease. read more

I wish I could give NEGATIVE stars Eco Park Apartments. Jessica, the property manager has got to be the RUDEST person I have ever met. My daughter's apt. was disgusting on move in day, and still remains the same. We have put in work orders, tried working with the office staff, even called the regional mangers, to no avail. These were supposed to have 24 hour emergency maintenance, quiet times for studying, and clean living conditions. None of which are true. They will be happy to take your First and Last month's check and then disappear. I had a 3 bedroom apartment last year. If you're looking for a place with storage for basic things like a broom, then you have come to the wrong apartment. In the model apartment you are under the impression a closet in the hallway will be unlocked and available. That is a lie. Also make sure you track everything you pay them because they can't keep their records straight. The hottest week of the summer our AC broke, it took them three different guys and 9 days to get it fixed. Our lease was over on Saturday at noon and we had a few things to clean still so we stopped by our apartment before turning in the keys. There was already painters in the apartment at 8am. What if we weren't done moving out yet? Also the women who works in the office is very rude and condescending. She is better than all of us, dumb reckless college kids. I would like a thank you from her because my rent made her paycheck. The other guys who work in the office are very polite, so try to interact with them instead. Also, even though they advertise that all inclusive prices, that's a lie. You still has gas in your name and we had to give them the bill and then they would pay it a month late. They will tell you that they are working of the problem with Nicor, but that's probably a lie as well. The best part about my apartment in eco park was that my apartment had new carpeting. read more
