Unfortunately, that just wasn't the case here. Customer service makes a big difference, and this experience completely turned me off from coming back.

It is not used for ordering, which was odd these days. Chill and super awesome bartender with the mother of all hickeys. Good pours. No Skrewball :-( I had the special, two hot dogs with tater tots. When it said double, I wasn't sure if that meant double the tater tots, but that meant actually two hot dogs. Really good. I also had the other special, the two pancakes. I meant to get the sausage, but they gave me the bacon instead. It was great. Well worth it. I thought that was the better value of the meals. They got a lot of board and card games. Very laid-back atmosphere, 90s and early 2000s pop on the music, comfortable seating, and good food. The prices were reasonable. This is one area that I think we are just going to have to deal with for quite some time. The give-and-take of prices,. Smothered tater tots, pancakes, two hotdogs with some tater tots, and three drinks came out to ~$55. NOT. BAD. Was it worth it? If this had been just a normal restaurant, I would've said no. It would've been more worth it if it had been about $40. But... nobody made us pay to use the board games, or the card games, and we sat there for three hours and had a really good time. So based on that, the fact they provide a venue for playing these games and hanging out for a few hours makes it all worth it. Really strange thing was that there was this balding guy with a beard that randomly showed up as a waiter. We had been dealing with a bartender, so this guy, kind of rude came on to us and we weren't sure what to do with him. He kind of blocked me from paying the bartender. Rude. Not a hangout spot every day, but certainly once a week, maybe once a month or more, definitely a place to meet up if you got a group. I was really surprised by the diversity of the people that were there. A lot of chess players, a whole table of middle-aged women, lots of different people playing games. I would give them five stars, but not quite perfect. The rude guy at the end was so odd. Otherwise, great location, great parking, the food was good, good value, and fun.

During COVID, my partner and I did about a puzzle every week. We now have cases of puzzles that we did one time, then packed away! I brought a few, so we could swap them out for a few "easier" puzzles that my kids could do. It's such a cool idea and love it and came back with 3 kiddo options. The store is so wonderful, located right across the way from Eastern Market on Capitol Hill. All of the staff is not just incredibly friendly, but quick to offer advice on games and puzzles to take home. There is a room where you can attempt puzzles and games. We spent several hours here just enjoying all of the entertainment. It's a great rainy or snowy day activity. The bookstore just next door is a perfect pairing.

I specifically asked an employee for the price before deciding whether to buy it. I was quoted $80. When we went to the register, the item scanned at $120. Mistakes happen, but what disappointed me was that the store refused to honor the price I was given by their employee. If customers can't rely on the pricing information provided by staff, it creates a lack of trust in the shopping experience. I understand that prices can be entered incorrectly, but a $40 difference is significant. A simple gesture of honoring the quoted price or meeting somewhere in the middle would have gone a long way toward good customer service. Instead, I left feeling misled / baited n switched. I'm in DC for the summer and started getting into Warhammer. Reiter's is basically the only place in DC that carries Games Workshop goods (books, White Dwarf magazine, miniatures, paints, etc.). While the GW section only occupies a small corner of the stores, it is a very solid offering. I purchased a White Dwarf magazine which had a price tag of $9.00. At checkout, the total came out to $8.47 which was a pleasant surprise that I did not question. The receipt listed "Less 10.0% Discount". (EDIT) I recently learned that this is due to a promotion regarding the Warhammer community MeetUp group that meets at Reiter's about twice a month. I have since joined the group and will definitely be back to purchase some GW products as they are normally never discounted.

They also have a passport photo section as they're right next to the passport office, which is convenient I guess. Prices seemed fair though and it was organized well. The shop was well organized and had so much more than just comics -- from building models to artwork by local artists. It also feels like a real community space, hosting events and meetups on different nights, which makes it even more special. My child absolutely fell in love with this place, and honestly, so did I.
