Fabians Snack Shack serves jumbo smoked Turkey legs, jumbo chicken on a stick, popcorn, souvenir cups, fountain drinks, and frozen slushy icees in flavors of coke, blue raspberry, lemonade, and cherry. The Jumbo Slow Smoked Sweet BBQ Turkey Leg at Fabians Snack Shack is just like the ones at Disney World! The Turkey Leg meat had a nice, smokey flavor to it! The leg was also incredibly juicy and tender! After the first couple of bites, I was not surprised that so many people suspect that it's actually not turkey at all, since it doesn't really taste like turkey. It tastes a lot like a cross between cured ham and chicken. I suspect the turkey leg is brined. The strong salty flavor would certainly suggest as much. If you're not super hungry, the turkey leg itself is large enough as a snack or light meal for 2 people, and splitting it among a few people is probably a good idea! I thought turkey was super good for you. But as it turns out, that applies mostly just to the turkey's breast meat. The jumbo turkey leg is probably not the lowest calorie option or the highest calorie option at Adventure Island Water Park with the average leg containing 1,093 calories, 54 grams of fat, 15 grams of saturated fat, and 5,284 milligrams of sodium. I imagine the burgers and ribs are more calories than this. While the Jumbo Turkey Leg tastes pretty good, I can't make a habit out of eating this too often sadly. If you're in Adventure Island, definitely give this a try, but just not every time you visit!

I enjoyed people's bacon outfits. Bacon PJs. Body by bacon t-shirts. Etc. Datz really delivered with a variety of fun things to try and generous portions including of bacon brownies. including a bacon flight, bacon sushi (which they comped), bacon ice cream (although it wasn't that bacony), . The peppered bacon on a stick was also good. I discovered the Zesty Tsunami food truck that served up a DELICIOUS cheesy sandwich. Aloha to Go was also good although I would have liked maybe a pineapple bbq sauce or other opping offerings for their pork slider. I also had the priveledge of enjoying the GREAT local Ska band UNRB. Super fun and great!!! Think Mighty Mighty Bostones.. Why the Fairgrounds doesn't make part of these events indoors so people can cool off I have no idea. Stupid.

This was a poorly planned and executed festival. Why would you have this outside on a 90 degree day…read morewhen you could have had it inside? This alone took away from the crowd and made you not want to stay. The timing was odd as well, 1-7 pm, weird. They should have handed out some type of map when you walked in so you knew what you were dealing with, but they did not. You were left to figure it out. I guess they realized how small the event was and that you would not be needing one. Once you walked in, it was basically half food trucks that were just selling their food, and about 5 sampling stations with 5-10 options of bacon at each. Two of the stations had nobody there and were empty. It looked like a mostly volunteer staff and they did not care much about what they were handing out. Datz was the exception. The samples that were offered were small and of low quality. I had never had bad bacon before this fest. Thanks for setting an all new low. The folks serving the food were nice, but did not care about food quality. We had a sample of caramel bacon popcorn handed to us that had no caramel. The local showing, Datz, had some very good samples and really set the quality standard as to what should be offered. If it wasn't for them, I would have given this fest zero stars. Thankfully I bought the early tickets for $15 so I was not out much money, but if I would have paid $25, I would have been extremely upset. Hopefully if this fest is offered again, it will be better planned and more enjoyable.

Seminole Heights Sunday Farmers Market is cool cool. But then again, all of the Tampa Bay Markets…read moreare pretty cool and unique in their own special way. They all have a different set up, or atmosphere to me. Many of the vendors that I came across here are not at all of the markets, so it is great to come here and see different vendors than at other markets. Some of my favorite vendors are the lady that sells the home made jam. She has a strawberry mango jam, and a ginger pear jam, and a mango habanero jam just to name a few of her selections. You can sample everything, and then pick out your favorite for $8. There is also a vendor that sells bird baths that are shaped like flowers, and made of plates. There are jewelry vendors, plants and flowers like orchids, boiled peanuts that sit in beer, different types of breads, fruit and veggie vendors and food vendors. My favorite vendor is Maine-iacs, the vendor that sells the Lobster Rolls, Lobster Bisque, and Whoopie Pies. I also want to try the Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. I have tried the strawberry and regular lemonade which are really good from Simply Lemonade. Often there is music playing, and there are a lot of people just strolling around on their Sunday. It's a great place to hang out for a bit, and then maybe go to a nearby place for brunch such as Ella's American Art Café, or get some coffee, or a beer at Independent. There are lots of options around you. You do have to drive but everything is all pretty close. This is a nice family and pet friendly hang out spot on a Sunday, so definitely check it out. All of the Tampa Bay markets can be found at tampabaymarkets.com. I can easily say that I have been to all of them, and they are all just a fun, carefree vibe.

I have come home with plants, candles, purses, jewelry, and jam, all made from craftspeople located in the Tampa Bay area. There usually seems to be about 25-30 booths of crafts and food, a produce stand, and about 10 food/drink trucks on any given 2nd Sunday of the month. There are also local interest booths - this past weekend there was a Seminole Height's booth, advertising the Seminole Height's Home Tour and selling t-shirts. If you do want to eat something you've purchased here, find the shady section of grass in front of the stage area, which usually has local musicians performing for your listening pleasure. There is a great children's section, too, with crafts, play area, and specialty booths geared towards kids. Also not to be missed is the opportunity to take a tour of historic Hillsborough High School, which is the oldest high school in Hillsborough County, dating back to 1928. They have student ambassadors giving guided tours, and it was pretty cool to see the inside of this massive structure. There is usually a sign stuck in the ground near the front entrance of the school giving more details about when the tours start. The market only operates from October through May because it is too darn hot the rest of the year. Make sure you wear your sunscreen/hat too, because there is minimal shade to be had.
