First off, there's only street parking so you have to find a park down a side street if you can't get lucky around the establishment. I fortunately, found a park around the corner, while our friends had to park on the street behind Ventura. Ones we arrived, we see nothing but a sea of pool tables and the place is packed. Music playing, TV's on and everyone was having a good time. Everyone seemed really young like it was a college hangout but the kids were pretty cool. Our wait time was 45 mins but it seemed to go by pretty quickly since we ordered a few beers and seltzers and while hanging out. I did see a menu with food but I think they only serve food until 7p. Anyway, this is a cool spot to come hangout and shoot pool. The place seemed pretty safe with no knuckle heads that night. Oh one last thing, there was a line for the girls bathroom because I think there is only one stall in there. The guys bathroom had a stall and a urinal so there wasn't really a line. Solid hangout. Only concern is the neighborhood…read more Parking is tough. Some spots are VERY tight and others are pretty standard. It's next to a gym, so there's a lot of traffic here. Plan to get here maybe 5 min earlier than planned because it'll take some time to find parking. After parking, the experience goes uphill. There are lots of tables available with plenty of space in between. I mean, you'll need common etiquette, but besides that, there are lots of tables for you to choose from. The employees are very nice about setting you up and lighting up the table that you want. They are very accommodating and flexible. There are leagues here as well if you think about making a commitment. Cost seemed appropriate for the quality of the equipment. It was about $20 an hour for a party of 2. So if you split it with a friend, that's about $20 for 2 hours of playtime. The table I used and the spare sticks available seemed to be in good condition. They also serve beer and have sports games along the edges of the shop. There are also stools and small tables available. If you feel like taking a break or not even playing pool at all, it seems like a good place to hang, catch up or watch some sports.

If you have questions about the game, they will help you out. It's like Cheers where everybody knows your name. The only problem is the women's bathroom is shared with men. Some men can't read the sign in the bathroom saying to be courteous and put the seat back down. Other than that, this is a wonderful way to de-stress and enjoy day.

Retro Tiki Bar time…read more Popped in with babe recently to beat the heat and cool off with some delicious libations. No one was at the station in back and after waiting in the heat for five minute, we wander through the patio, still spacious and actually more done up than my last time here a couple years ago when me and a group sat across from a tv celeb and his friends, ironically all coming from the same event. Lots of tables and chairs and cool fireplaces and pits for when the cooler nights and days return. Inside the temp was perfect and not as busy as we'd assume. We got greeted and guided to the open "U" shaped couch area with a small candlelit round table. Good music was vibing away and I ordered us the Mojave Punch. Still a big fan of their Tiki Punch Bowl, Pain Killer, TBD, Dark and Stormy, Blue Hawaiian, Mai Tai, Nutty Chi Chi and several seasonal drinks. Draft beer, cans and bottles also available with a solid assortment imported, including alcohol free, plus tons of craft brew. Getting a drink was easy when we first started, but became a challenge at the end, not to mention closing out. During our afternoon cocktail we has some chips and salsa from the stand in back semi partnered up with Tonga Hut. They have a variety Mexican street food style dishes including tacos, burritos, and more. Outside food is welcome - in fact a medium size party enjoyed a pizza party on the patio. When it's mellow seating is pretty easy. They tend to have one to two bartenders at a time rarely more as it's a tight space behind the bar. I have seen up to three in the past, but even then good drinks take time. Patience is very much still a key. They can do classic well drinks, soft drinks and have a water station as well. Restrooms are single use. Juke Box is solid though it did cut out at the end when me and this poor guy in front of me waited for what felt like an endless amount of time to close out. He had already been up there for 10 minutes during the shift changes, mini breaks (for staff) and one bartender handling everything for a while. After 15 minutes for myself and almost 25 for him we were able to depart. Highly recommend ordering early on and maybe something big or shareable. As the oldest tiki bar in Los Angeles, serving it up since 1958 it's hard to keep up all the goodness without any waves. They do their best and everyone is personable. Walk Ins are very welcome but they also take reservation for parties up to 15, beyond that reach out via email on their website. Also visit their other location in Palm Springs. Parking in the lot or on the street. Open from 4pm to 1am during the week, Monday through Thursday. Fridays and Saturday until 2am. Earlier hours Saturday and Sunday, open by 2pm.
