If I'm going to have one, I want it to survive a fire and the water putting out the fire. I found the size I needed, so the next decision I had to make was, key or keypad. I'm old school and went with a key over the digital keypad. It will be easier to open when I am dead and gone. Pricing was good, the difference between being fire protection and not was only about $30 and key vs keypad was $10. So, whatever way you want to go, I say the pricing is totally affordable. Cashier was friendly and apologized that I had to wait behind a challenging customer. I praised him on how he handled the situation and wished him a good day. I love my new safe box.

Fast forward 4.5 years, the couch looks terrible as it's losing its shape and falling apart. Last week, one of the pillows ripped off the back of the couch and we subsequently submitted a protection plan claim. The claim was quickly rejected and so I called the Kettle River Manager. She said it was declined because it was wear and tear over time.. most likely because a pet was sitting on it and it caused the issue. We do have a dog, but it definitely has never sat on the back of the couch. She then tried selling me on using their furniture repair tech (which I'd have to pay for). I obviously declined. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. What I've gained from this experience is Kettle River doesn't expect your furniture to last more than 5 years and even if you purchase a protection plan, they will most likely reject any claims.

After going back and forth for quite some time, I met with the owner and he and I agreed that they were not going to be able to do an installation that would make me happy. He and I agreed that they would refund a significant portion of the amount paid for the project to my office. I asked to put it in writing and he said we are businesspeople, that a handshake was fine. He would mail us a check. This was in June of 2022. After working extensively with the owner's assistant, we still do not have our refund check. And they are again no longer communicating with us. To say I am disappointed would be a gross understatement. It's not just the money. It's the lack of professionalism, follow-through, and integrity that truly upsets me.
