I do have a safety deposit box at my local bank, but there are some things you need secured and closer to home. Also, many financial advisors are recommending have a safety fire box in your home. When I went shopping for mine, I was surprised some of the safe boxes were not fire or water safe. If I'm going to have one, I want it to survive a fire and the water putting out the fire. I found the size I needed, so the next decision I had to make was, key or keypad. I'm old school and went with a key over the digital keypad. It will be easier to open when I am dead and gone. Pricing was good, the difference between being fire protection and not was only about $30 and key vs keypad was $10. So, whatever way you want to go, I say the pricing is totally affordable. Cashier was friendly and apologized that I had to wait behind a challenging customer. I praised him on how he handled the situation and wished him a good day. I love my new safe box. read more

Desk I ordered and paid for arrived with a big crack in the corner. I called and the associate really didn't want to be bothered with it. He asked me if I had protection and told me that I would have to repack the entire desk in it's original packaging (very hard to do and he knew it!) and bring it back to the store. It weighed somewhere around a hundred pounds. NEVER GET FURNITURE FROM THIS PLACE!! If there's anything wrong with it they will tell you that it's your problem and won't help you!!!! read more

​ I went to the store today about 3:40 in the afternoon in Edwardsville Glen Carbon . I had two very large Maps that I needed five copies of each . I had to wait by 10s but I needed one copy of each . 12 total copies . He told me he could do the 8x10s but then I'd have to come back the next day for the large ones . I've been there many times before and I knew that was not true besides that there was only two other customers in the entire store it looked like it was closed. He fiddled on his computer and then when I finally looked after about 20 minutes I asked him what he was doing and he shut down what he was doing quickly I think he was playing games while I stood there waiting for him to help me . I insisted I would wait because I couldn't come back the next day and this is for legal work I have to submit it at my job . Finally he said that he would do it as a big favor to me , and he actually started working on it . I needed five copies of the same document and I had two documents so that's five copies each but he was running them one at a time to just delay the process. I guess he's a little boy that doesn't have a lot of power and this is how he's using it I went and stood by him finally after 20 minutes and asked him was he feeding it in once five times instead of feeding it in and hitting it copy five times . He didn't answer of course he actually also left to help a different customer when there were two other people a girl and another young boy they all look like they were in high school . I finally after that episode and two other people tried that I interjected that he supposed to be working on a project for me . And I told one of them you know I've been here for an hour now and he said yeah I know it always takes that long . I used to buy everything from OfficeMax but now I think I'm going to start looking at Staples . If I have to order it online I might as well go to the place where they have good customer service even though they're further away from me . Finally when all was said and done I'm standing in front of him expecting to pay and he tells me finally to go to the other Clerk he was just so rude it was unbelievable . At that point I told him I've hired a lot of people in my life and if I was his boss I'd fire him immediately for his rudeness his complacency his lack of Interest in doing anything he just wanted to hang out . We had to print out copies for a tax correct, maybe 6 pages tops. The one machine was not working. The other one kept freezing and we had to keep entering my card information. It was printing short paper and longer paper for some of the pages before it finally froze up for good and we waited until the worker at the desk was available. When we got home, the several transactions totalled $18.66 for a few black and white sheets of paper. If you have to print here, make sure a worker helps instead of using their buggy kiosks. It will probably take just as long but it will save you money. read more

Preparing to co-host an event for 200, I brought in a seating chart as a PDF file, asking for two prints 24" x 36", mounted on foam board, laminated. A good friend (who actually gave them 4 stars here) told me not give someone 1 star unless they intentionally make me P.O.ed. So I'm not sure if they did it intentionally or are just indifferent in their lack of service. Also, notice that all the reviews are at least 4 years old so things have possibly gone downhill...at least with me. In baseball, 3 strikes and you're out. They just struck out with me so I'm done with them and hope that Staples will buy them and improve their service. Here are the strikes: 1. I go through a lot of ink cartridges at work and home so I was excited by their "empty" cartridge for credit plan...until I tried to use it. This plan leaves all the work up to the customer who must go on-line for credit and logging cartridges returned. Why can't they just give me credit when I bring them in? How about a simple punch card? So I quit bothering to return old cartridges to be recycled. 2. Stopped in a month ago and even though there was an employee standing at a register (do they ever use those things?) she told us to go to the service desk. I guess that is more convenient for them, not us. So 2 off us went there and had to deal with a snippy employee who couldn't find my tax ID number in her book (Hello - this is 2015; put it in the computer system!) even though I had a copy with me. 3. This morning, I went in to get some labels printed at the copy center. There were 3 of us waiting and after standing there with no acknowledgement from the 2 employees busy on a computer or the employee a few feet away at the service desk, the first customer turned to me and said she had been helped. I run my own business and visit office stores frequently for supplies. Office Max has been my favorite in the area for a while. The employees are always polite and helpful and last time I visited they went out of their way to fix a pricing issue on an item favorably for me. Other than that it's a typical Office Max. I was pleased when shopping here that the employees were attentive to my needs and helpful and pleasant in the process. This particular store has a really nice selection of office supplies and I think it is a little different than some other office supply stores I have visited. They seemed to have a nice variety of truly useful office items and you are not overwhelmed with merchandising gimmicks and junk unrelated to your intended purchase. So, it gets 4 stars from me for being a store serious about its primary product line and having very nice and helpful staff and decent prices. read more
