I asked Lani, one of OfficeMax employees behind the counter, and she stated that they don't carry those without even asking exactly what I'm looking for. After being blatantly ignored and allowed to be cut in line, the associate was extremely dismissive and told me that they did not have the paper I desired in the print center, and that they can not print anything smaller than 8.5x11. I was directed to the back of the store to find my own paper without any assistance. To my surprise, when arriving to the East Sacramento location, all of those things were untrue. This store even banners! The only thing I didn't like was how some items were cheaper online while others weren't. On this day, able to piece together a password book, price unknown until after check-out bcz shelves don't have prices clearly listed. At counter, little boy didn't bag items, or discuss my current account status as a sole proprietor, when his "bro" came up and put his large items over the top of mine as if I didn't exist - the 2 of them laughing. I came by to print some items for a large project I have been working on. The staff is friendly I actually dropped one day and they secured it for me when I returned the same day to retrieve it. The set up for printing via e-mail to the print/scan is a little funky but easy to manage. I knock off stars because each time I have gone in there the place is kind of a mess on the cleanliness scale. Prices are ok- but still expensive if you ask me. read more

Printing here was a waste of money. The ink quality on the card stock papers were horrible ! Many of the colors didn't show up or came out transparent or black. For 55 papers, it was close to 70 bucks! You get charged for the papers on top of the printing. Crazy. read more

I bought a backpack with a handle for my granddaughter for medical reasons. I went out and bought what I thought was a very strong made one. I spent $169.00 for it. I didn't have the receipt as I've never had one fall apart in just over a month of using one. I told them I bought it last month. They said without a receipt (again it was emailed, so they should have a record of a sale) I can't prove it was within 39 days, They refused a replacement. When the Office Depot was on Stockton Blvd just off Mack Road, they went out of their way to help me on a desk chair that was broken. The manager at the one on Arden was a real nasty person, she was unwilling to help me as the wheels were damaged and a strap broken. Obvious defects on the backpack. I will NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN. More and more these days, I find myself looking for things I used to find here elsewhere, but I still find they have good values on printer ink and small package items like staples or file folders that I can't find in packages of less than 5000 at Costco. Still 1 star. I use a particular brand and size of weekly planner. It's difficult to find in stores and costly online. I called. I asked if they carry blue sky brand and the small 3x6" weekly/monthly planner with spiral bind. The person comes back and says yes. I ask, so you have blue sky brand calendars? Answer = yes. And you have the small 3x6" ones? Answer = yes, my manager just told me. And that's the best answer I can give you. I ask, and you cannot walk down there to verify? You see, I've called your store before to ask if you had something on your shelves, was told yes, then when I arrived there were absolutely none. Answer = ok, I'll go check. The response, "no, we only have the 5x8 size." Thank God I am persistent. Thank God I loathe laziness and will push an employee to do what I was taught when I worked in retail, GO AND CHECK FOR THE CUSTOMER. I also loathe wasting my fuel and my time. With that, my review is done. You get the point. This store may have what you need at a reasonable price. But it may not. I've been here several times and it's hit and miss on the type of customer service you will receive but I'd say most of the time it's sub par. While I waited in line I heard the employee just be completely unhelpful to the gentleman. He ended up leaving without getting what he needed. When it was my turn she told me to go to self service because they had alot of orders. I said I did not expect to receive it now. I ended up leaving. I could tell she did not want to help me. She did not want any more orders clearly and that caused 2 customers back to back to just leave. I absolutely will take my business elsewhere. When I'm not driving, I use the usual office supplies in my office - paper, staples, toner, etc. My big box office supply store of choice is Staples to be honest - mostly because I get a decent corporate discount there... but not too long ago, Staples closed the location closest to me (boo!) so it's not so convenient to go there. Even so, I tend to go to Staples because I'm familiar with the store layout and so on. Well, this night I found myself in the middle of another area where there's no Staples to be found, and I really needed some supplies - so Officemax to the rescue! They had everything I needed. It was nearing closing time, so very few other shoppers in the store... I was able to grab what I needed and bail. Upon walking in there were 2 employees literally sitting at a table and talking as of on their break but they were at the print counter. It was great that the store with self-service copier was open on a Sunday. Most places are closed. There are 3 self-service copier machines, another great feature. The self-service copier machines need to be upgraded, slower than molasses. You press the button to make a copy and a display a spinning wheel that spins, and spins, and spins. Really slow if you are making a lot of copies from a book. I made a joke to my friend that it reminds me of dial-up in the old days or a hamster going round and round on a wheel. read more

Came in to get some old colored photos digitized. Josh was very helpful and told me about their special frames that look really cool on enlarged color photographs. I accidentially left my envelope with the photos and Josh saw them on his counter and brought them over to me on the other side of the store. True customer service is so refreshing. There are only so many aisles of overpriced highlighters and sharpie pens that I can look at while the Mr compares the price of computers that all look the same to me.
