Our daughter and her friend were visiting for a few days so we went out for the sunset sail. It was only 2 days after Hurricane Milton so we weren't sure if Joel would take us out. He did and the 4 of us were his only passengers! It was a beautiful sail along Fort Myers Beach and we were able to see a few dolphins...unfortunately, they never stayed above water long enough for a picture. Joanne supplied us with beer, wine and hard seltzers as well as sodas and waters. It was a pleasure chatting with them and we were amazed to find out that Joel built the catamaran! Can't wait until our next trip with them!!!

Other than some picnic tables and a port-a-potty, there aren't any services here. They do have signs posted that overnight trailer parking is not permitted (but maybe camper parking is?). This park is a small spit of land at the base of the Caloosahatchee Bridge. It lies along the…read moreCaloosahatchee River making it a great spot for fishing but a free salt water fishing license is required. The parking here is also free. Lee County Parks & Recreation took over responsibility of the North Shore Bridge Access from the State of Florida in August of 1987. A pier was added to the park in 2000 which was paid for with proceeds from the three cent bed tax imposed on short-term tourist stays in Lee County. The park is home to the Edison Sailing Center which offers sailing and power boat safety lessons here. Note that although North Shore Park has a beach, swimming is not permitted. Restroom facilities are port a potties. I enjoyed taking a walk on the trail that runs from the parking lot to the base of the bridge. You can get a stunning view of the river, especially at sunset.

Our family was looking to experience something new while vacationing in Ft Myers the end of July. I…read morehappened upon Sundance Sailing through a Groupon deal and called captain Dave to confirm he had available while we were in town, not only did he have availability he also honored the Groupon rate in person. We enjoyed our 4 hours out on the boat with Captain Dave and his "arms" Maria. It felt like an authentic sailing experience with a captain who clearly loves what he does. With that being said, I'm not sure I would recommend this or really any sailboat experience to a family with young children... my boys are 15 & 18 so it was a good fit for us. After reading some other reviews I feel it important to note: This is not a luxury sailing experience, you are truly sailing on the boat where the captain lives and being on a sailboat you are at the mercy of the wind, so it can be a slow go at times. If you stay open minded, go with the flow of the ocean and the wind you are sure to have a great time. Oh and bring lots of sunscreen!
