They provide visuals before committing to the project and they were flexible enough to change the layout to our liking several times - we could be pretty honest about what we wanted or not. The outcome was pretty exact to the final renderings. We were given regular updates on the progress, any unexpected issues, and how they were being addressed. Traylor was always upfront about timelines and costs, which helped avoid any unpleasant surprises later on. They document every detail in an organized way so it is never unclear. It was a big project for us so, yes of course, we had add-ons and spent more than expected but that was not their pushing but more our choices. Of note, the project was definitely completed on time but we also had a VERY flexible timeline. Still I got the impression they always push forward to stay on track. The craftsmanship was exactly what we had hoped for and we have already gotten compliments on the transformation of our home. Post-renovation, the customer service has remained excellent. When I had a minor issue with a cabinet handle and drawer, they sent their main point person and construction team again to fix it at no additional cost. We removed the wall between the kitchen and the tiny dining room, and Traylor rerouted HVAC, relocated plumbing, updated electrical, and installed cabinets, counters, and new flooring. The transformation has made a huge difference in how we use our home. The quality of the work is solid, especially given the price--which is truly hard to beat. The team was professional, punctual, and respectful throughout the process. They cleaned up daily, which we really appreciated. He even had the audacity to say he was too busy. What the heck? He wasn't busy when he took my money. Then the steps to the sales tower had wooden edges. In our experience, Marks-Woods Construction LLC are dangerous and dishonest contractors…read more I won't bury the lede: Marks-Woods lit our house on fire and abandoned it to burn, cut a live 240 volt wire and left it exposed in our yard where children play, mis-wired an outlet so that it threw sparks and molten copper onto our attic insulation, and allowed a gas leak to persist in our occupied house for at least a month. They exceeded their three-month contracted timeline by five months and left the project incomplete. If those facts are not enough to convince you of their unsuitability to earn your business, please continue reading. The red flags came early and often: Marks-Woods demanded a HUGE down payment to begin work, which began later than promised and faced delays from the outset. As other reviewers have noted, workers would show up infrequently (initially less than 60% of the time) and do very little work (for example, we caught them napping in our garage, watching videos, and playing with paper airplanes). Marks-Woods' work failed and continues to fail Fairfax County inspections (our deck for example, was built at great expense and not even remotely to code) and of hit-or-miss quality (we could not confirm some of their subcontractors' licenses either). They wasted time and resources via sloppy workmanship (e.g., leaky roof, broken tiles, unlevel floors), failing to follow building plans correctly, and misordering supplies etc. etc. Marks-Woods' communication was erratic and inaccurate regarding scheduling, work to be done, work completed, and invoicing. You can verify in other reviews (note the lack of historical ones on Google: Marks-Woods' business profile suspiciously disappeared for a while) and public court records that they allegedly pull financial shenanigans such as failing to pay their creditors and subcontractors. For our project, they unilaterally (and likely illegally) demanded changes in our payment terms in violation of the contract and created false invoices requesting payment multiple times for the same line items while sprinkling payments among various unrelated line items to help their "cash flow". I could continue our litany of documented complaints ad nauseum and appreciate your reading this far. My only goal is to spare other homeowners from the financial and emotional trauma our family suffered at the hands of Marks-Woods; avoid them: they do not deserve your or anyone else's business.

We were on a tight deadline and they worked with us. Jeff was straightforward which I really liked and his work was great. For this project, Jeff built supports for a bar countertop we were having installed. I usually need welding and iron work done to support large commercial washers and dryers but that work was already done by our previous contractor (whom I'll never use again). I'm building more stores in the future and considering these guys for ALL our welding needs in the future. They were also fair and reasonably priced. The painting was not to a professional level, the drywall finish is not even. The refinishing of the wood floors was done with a single layer of stain without a proper second coat and sealer. After only a few months it is showing serious wear. I would never recommend them. The owner never even came to see the finished job.
