They were able to lift and level my concrete slab back to exactly where it was originally! This saved me a big chunk of money.

And then they kept happening, getting larger and spreading throughout the entirety of the house, and we could no longer open the doors in the basement and 1st floor on the south side of the house. Alarmed, I called a civil engineer and had an assessment done. They ascertained our house was sinking, particularly in one corner, and recommended ~30 push piers around the perimeter and up the centerline of the house... for over $100k. I literally laughed at him and asked him who he thought I was that he thought I could afford that. I called a few other places and got questionable assessments, and then I spoke with Yos from DMV. What a breath of fresh air. He was personable and honest. He recommended we get a 3rd party civil engineer to produce a report with drawings that I could use for any foundation company - even if I didn't go with DMV. We (finally, after a loooong delay on the civil engineer's part) got the report and drawings, and Yos and his team began work in early January to install ~10 helical piers on the sinking corner of the house. It was a pretty invasive project, but his team was fantastic. Fast forward 5 months and the cracks have stopped appearing, with a number of them even closing. We are very satisfied with the work DMV did for us, and are particularly pleased with their honesty. Where one company tried to sell us an overkill solution for six figures, Yos was upfront and told us what we really need - to address that affected area and revisit others if they end up being an issue - for roughly a quarter of the other company's price. That sort of honesty and pricing earns a permanent spot in my trusted contractor list.

From the initial phone call with Logan, to the consultation with Yos, they listened to our concerns/requests & communicated things clearly. Five stars!

I contacted Randall, the owner of Basement Masters, who came out promptly, looked at old system, discussed concerns with warranty coverage I might encounter, and found no foundation cracks. The initial sales person was a classic over-seller and promised the world while simultaneously doing a very surface-level review of the situation, ultimately concluding that we were in need of an indoor water mitigation system and sump pump. The sales process was tortured, over-the-top, and ended with the classic "same-day-only discount" proposal (red flag number 1). The scheduling process and lead-up to the project was radio-silent with no preparation on what to do or what to expect from the project manager or the sales person until I reached out proactively. I had to call the morning the project was set to begin to even know if they were coming or not (red flag number 2). The project itself eventually began and within less than an hour it became obvious the source of the leak was in fact a burst pipe and not ground water coming in through the basement. I called the office and put a stop order on the work at which point they immediately became very cagey about what options were available to me and from this point on once again went radio silent (red flag number 3). Upon reaching out to the office multiple times (via both email and phone) to address the issue and seek at least a partial refund of our deposit for the issue, they took 3+ days to even respond, and when they did, claimed that despite obvious pictures pointing to the pipe being the issue, it could have been ground water at the same time and they were unable to provide any refund of any kind (red flag number 4). I get that I signed a contract. I get that they planned and scheduled the work. I also now have learned an expensive lesson about trusting my gut and being more proactive about my concerns. But they're supposed to be the experts! And the fact that they took absolutely no responsibility for having done a poor assessment of the situation up-front and then pretended like they were actually still right about it was disappointing and embarrassing. I can't in good faith recommend working with this company to anyone.

I'm leaving this review to share a balanced but honest account of my experience. While the end…read moreresult of the project was acceptable, the process was far more complicated and frustrating than it needed to be. The sales interaction set the tone with high‑pressure tactics, including statements like "this price is only available today." We moved forward anyway because we knew we wanted the work done. When I later asked to adjust the scope, the salesperson resisted for nearly ten minutes before agreeing to send a revised contract. The first crew delivered solid work on the drain line and concrete, but the vapor barrier installation was sloppy--uneven trimming, gaps, and inconsistent application. They also removed a board supporting the incoming water line without explanation, leaving it hanging from a wire and damaging the clamp. Their initial attempt to "fix" it involved taping the board to a pipe, which was not a proper or safe solution. The sump pump outlet was also installed in a way that caused the discharge pipe to partially block it, putting pressure on the plug. Communication was another major issue. I was never given a dedicated point of contact. I had to reach out to the salesperson again just to report problems. He forwarded my concerns to the office, and I was eventually contacted by Christal. She was professional and genuinely helpful, but her phone number repeatedly showed as disconnected, and only some text messages went through. I had to call the main line each time and ask to be routed to her. A week later, two crews returned and corrected the vapor barrier, repaired the board, and moved the outlet so it was no longer obstructed. The final work met expectations, but the overall experience involved unnecessary sales pressure, communication challenges, and multiple days off work for corrections and inspections.

He said he would refer it to a tech to get back to me right away. Five (5) days later the tech calls me to ask what I needed. TOO LATE BUDDY! I had to -- and did -- find a fix myself. Ordinarily one might say, "so what's the big deal", and I would agree. The difference is that I have spent thousands (50, 60, 70, more?) on JES for a variety of issues. However, that did not seem to guarantee me any increased access to a timely return call for my emergency need. Methinks they are getting too big to be responsive company.

We recently installed French drains through Exterior Waterproofing Experts after getting four estimates total and I will say outright this company is the most knowledgeable of any I had interviewed. One of the owners is a hydrologist and he is part of Clifton Contracting. They brought up how you shouldn't do a runoff close to the street because it causes ice on the road which no other company had mentioned. He told me how they install legs in the ground and addition to the main ditches to help distribute water better. And we made a plan to do a u shape around the house with two pits underground that replace above ground stone pits we had before. They installed pop-up drain outs near the front and after two heavy rains I'm already impressed of how well the system dries out compared to before. They also do a lot of outdoor landscaping, patio work, outdoor spaces and more. I was incredibly impressed with them. Feel free to DM me if you want me to discuss who else I interviewed. Also now is the great time to do it because it's "winter" and prices are lower than when they would be during normal times. Highly recommend. Contact Evan at 571-599-0528. He texts too.

We live in DC and have a sump pump that exits our basement into our backyard. Over time, poor drainage, the sump pump outflow exit location, and a few other poorly executed landscaping design issues (put in place by the previous owner) rendered our backyard and side yards useless. Evan was quick to diagnose the root causes of each issue in each location and went above and beyond in his suggestions for remedies. His proposed solutions were functional and creative - he knows his stuff! His pricing was fair for the work scope as well, IMO. Santiago and team were excellent. They arrived timely and worked insanely hard. Further, they were so clean in their work. The hosed down and blew out the workspace after they finished each job in each space - this was very much appreciated. In addition, Santiago and crew went above and beyond my expectations in that they used leftover mulch to touch up a few beds not originally contemplated in the initial scope of work. Finally, upon final inspection, we noticed a few very minor items requiring additional follow up. Evan agreed to address each issue and sent his crew the same day to fix. I couldn't be happier with their work and hopefully, the pictures do their craftsmanship more justice than this review.

We had some drainage/waterproofing issues that needed addressed, and when I found out the scope of their skills, we also hired them for a laundry list of things I had on my wish list since moving in a few years ago. These folks did it all for us! For starters, they repaired a brick wall in our front yard, installed a new sump pump drain pipe and exit, re-worked some existing exterior waterproofing that had been done sloppily in the past, and added a new concrete pad and drain by our back door. They even helped us track down an underground gutter leak and replaced the broken pipe. The showpiece job, however, is the stunning stone retaining wall, that they meticulously built by hand, across the back yard along with the new cement parking pad and stamped concrete border tapering it to our existing drive. The pictures don't do it justice (attached is a "before" photo for reference). Everything was done with great care and precision, using high-quality materials.
