We went up to our room to check it out. It smelled moldy/musty/stale as well. My wife ran a diffuser which helped tremendously. The armoire and the dresser that holds the mini fridge were in pretty rough shape. The tub had chips and stains in it. The headboard of the bed is pleather/vinyl and it was peeling and flaking. There is no microwave in the room. We changed and headed to the pool. This was probably the highlight of the week. The pool area is nice and the staff at the pool bar were friendly and talkative. We quickly learned that beers at the pool bar were colder than any others at Belterra. We stopped by and hung out at the pool and pool bar three times during our stay. We sent to the Stadium sports Bar and Grill Wednesday evening with some friends. The food was OK. After our first night we realized the bed was hard as a rock and the pillows were awful and we would just have to get through our stay. The next morning, I went to Nosh to get some breakfast. I ordered two Bacon, Egg and Cheese English Muffins and took them up to the room. The little oven they use is apparently on a preset timer based on what you order. It overcooked both our sandwiches. The muffins were almost burned and egg was chewy. My wife did say the coffee I ordered her was the best in the hotel. The entire hotel felt like you were in a walk in freezer. It didn't matter if you were in the lobby, casino or the conference rooms. everyone in our group complained how cold the hotel was. The hotel needs a complete renovation. I don't think it has been upgraded since it was built. My wife and I agreed that we won't be back to Belterra.

It's a great view of the bridge and the river. Massive outdoor deck space to accommodate whoever you bring. Be aware, this isn't a Fairfield. The Riverboat is unique, but the rates are good and the rooms are clean and comfy. We will go back.

Such a cool hotel…read more.. I come to Madison for work at least once a year and always stay at this Marriott... Arguably one of the nicest Fairfield's you'll ever find. This place was an old cotton mill that they redesigned into a vintage yet elegant Fairfield (they probably could have/should have made it a JW, it's that nice). The staff is always friendly and accommodating and the location is perfect... Situated right on the river with great scenic views and a short 5 minute walk to all the excellent restaurants and watering holes on Main St that Madison has to offer. If coming through town for work or for leisure, this Fairfield Inn is the place to stay.

I loved the inclusion of locally made goods, like: the hand soap, chocolate truffles, and coffee they had available in the room. It was quiet and peaceful and a quick walk to Main Street. I loved learning about the history of the building and seeing old photos too. They also had a sound machine, which came in handy for us since I forgot the one my toddler sleeps with. You do have to make sure to memorize your key code or bring your phone everywhere (which most people do all the time). The lobby is key code access too and I almost got locked out once - whoops! We would be happy to stay here again and I'm sure we will be back someday!

It's also very close to a nice (not kidding!) Dollar General Market that is very handy for all those things I always forget to take on a trip. The Chandler is yet another reason to visit Madison. We are already looking forward to our next stay. Their practice of not having an employee who customers meet face-to-face and instead using text/email for entrance instructions is probably off-putting for some (it initially was for me), but their system works just fine. I encourage you to not be intimidated by it.

The rooms are relatively clean, and the staff do their best to keep all areas of the hotel as clean as they can. My room for the most part was clean with some minor stains on the carpet. The bathroom was spotless and the room wifi was easy to connect to and had a good signal that allowed me to surf, stream and connect to work through a VPN. The fitness centre is small and cramped and lacks modern equipment. Some of the machines were out of service during my stay. The dial for the heating and AC unit was broken and the TV had limited channels. The breakfast is standard IHG Holiday food which they change up daily offering hot and cold choices ei. bacon one day and sausage and gravy the next. Overall this hotel could use a modern renovation but it's okay for a short stay.

Nothing jumped out as particularly memorable, but it got the job done. The bed was decent and I slept fine, which is really all I needed for this trip. The biggest downside for me was the price. For what the room offers -- just the basics -- it felt a little steep. That said, prices in the area seemed generally high, so I don't blame the hotel too much for that. If I needed a place to crash in Carrollton again, I'd consider coming back, especially for the convenience and friendly service.

Typically we stay for more than one night and the town seemed nice enough for a longer stay. JLD Lanier owner architect of this B&B and also the Lanier Mansion. Unfortunately we did not have time to stop by that historic site. The house has some history as a stop on the Underground RR according to the innkeeper. You can have a nice quiet weekend or crazy weekend. Your choice. The casino is nearby and a few bars. Whatever you do, stay at the Empire House. It takes you back in time with decor in the rooms. And, price is amazingly bc affordable. Some rooms have kitchenette's. Some are like a small apartment to accommodate 5-6 persons. Call ahead and plan ahead, the rooms go fast. You will not be disappointed.
