Went for lunch today with 2 other coworkers. We all did the lunch all you can eat sushi. This also includes their appetizers. We all shared 8 different rolls and two appetizers. We loved everything we ate. Our favorite rolls were the Man on Fire and the Twilight, but honestly everything was amazing. All for only $18.99 for lunch. Amazing deal, amazing food, and everyone in the restaurant was very nice. Service was very fast. Owners were very friendly. We will be back regularly! read more

Went to Oh Sushi for lunch with my lady friends. We arrived when the restaurant opened. We were greeted and seated promptly. We were offered hot tea for free (not sure if this is always complimentary) because it was 2 degrees outside! I ordered off the lunch menu: octopus salad and udon with shrimp. (Next time, I will ask for the shrimp to be on the side.) We were given appetizer for free (we were their first guests that afternoon) and it was delicious. My favorite sushi place is Wasabi in the West DM area and Oh Sushi was comparable. We also ordered calamari (batter was crispy, not flaky), jalapeños with stuffed cream cheese and something else I can't remember (sorry, but it was delicious), and sushi special (I think). Everything was very good. The service was excellent. For me, if the service is not top notch, I don't care if the food is exceptional. I won't be back. I hope word gets out and Oh Sushi brings in more people. I would love to come back in the evening to enjoy sushi with some sake! read more

Went here for a later dinner on Valentine's Day. It was busy but not overly so. Service was prompt and attentive. Drink menu was adequate and fairly priced. Menu was decent size. They speciality, so it seems, is all-you can eat sushi. Neither of us opted for it however. Food was good and portions were typical. Nothing earth-shattering but did most things right. This is my new favorite sushi place in the Des Moines metro! Unlimited sushi for a reasonable price and really great rolls to choose from. I recommend the anger management roll and the GI Joe roll. The 007 roll is very solid as well. The appetizers are pretty good too. Do yourself a favor and try the screaming appetizer. It is asparagus, salmon and cream cheese wrapped and deep fried with some solid sauce pairings. It's my absolute favorite thing on the menu. Very similar to miso salmon at The Cheesecake Factory. I've waited with excitement for Oh Sushi to open and I definitely wasn't disappointed! We had the seaweed salad, Miso soup, French kiss and Anger management rolls served beautifully! Service was second to none anywhere in the Des Moiens area. They run a special any two sushi rolls for $ 18.00 and it was well worth the money! We came in a group of 12. Everyone was excited but most left disappointed. Every role tasted the same. They all had fried shrimp or something in them. Not much avocado or anything else that was listed. They said tuna and all this other stuff but they all looked and tasted the same. The waitress didn't bring out ANYTHING that we asked for. No fork, no water, no light soy sauce, no miso soup, no ginger, no horseradish, no spicy mayo, no octopus salad, hell no rolls. At least 2 out of 5 items would have been good. We had to beg her for our food. Worst service ever. And this was not just us. 3 out of 6 couples at the table were losing our s**t. We couldn't get our beer or saki brought to us for the love of God and that's where they really make their money. And the food didn't even taste that good as far as sushi rolls go. I mean fried calamari was ok, fried shrimp was good, and seaweed salad and miso soup we got after 1.5 hours of waiting were good. But that's about it. Let's just say the specialty rolls were not that special. I hate leaving bad reviews for a business but I was simply amazed at how everything turned out. If we were not with a group of friends I would have simply cancelled our orders, paid, and left to go somewhere else. read more

Located across from a very good Italian restaurant, Christopher's, on Beaver, Oh Sushi, is a pleasant surprise. Service was very fast and efficient. The rolls we got were very good and very close if not on par with Miyabe 9 which I consider the gold standard in the metro. The only downside if slight is the entry point is on Beaver Avenue and doesn't have a vestibule to keep the dining area from getting blasted upon customer entry. Oh Sushi might be easy to miss if you've never been there or hadn't heard about it. The location is great as it is easily accessible. The atmosphere when you walk in is different than I expected, neither in a good or bad way. Service was prompt even on an extremely busy evening. Upon ordering our appetizer was out to us in minutes. The six rolls we ordered took a bit longer but when they did come out they were beautifully presented. Went on a Monday night around 7pm and pretty much had the place to ourselves. The server was very friendly and helpful offering suggestions and answering menu questions readily. She took our drink orders... the drink menu has a good selection and is very reasonably priced! We ordered edamame and had a choice of garlic or plain. We went with the garlic and it was perfectly seasoned - not too overpowering! The portion was great for the four of us. We ordered a good number of sushi rolls and loved that they were labeled on the menu according to the degree of heat. Every roll we ordered had many pieces and the portions were very generous. Everything was so good! We each ordered two rolls and left filled! Prices for rolls are comparable or slightly lower than other sushi places but in my opinion the specialty roll menu was more diverse than other locations I have been to. My daughter and I dined here and were blown away! We ordered the AYCE (all you can eat) sushi for $25/per person. It includes just about everything on the menu from appetizers to full rolls. The cucumber salad was a favorite and so were the rolls we chose (I just wish I could remember the names of the rolls). Service was excellent as well as the food. I'm writing this two-star review as a wake-up call to the owner. We have waited for years to have a good sushi restaurant in Beaverdale and were quite excited when Oh Sushi opened. Our first visits made us think our wishes had finally come true. Although the selection of fish is limited to the usual, I was pleased with my nigiri order. Just the right amount of well-sliced fish to rice. Udon and ramen bowls were also excellent. But now it's an all you can eat place and that seems to be what everyone is there for. Nothing really wrong with that, but now the slices of fish are all precut paper-thin for speed to construct the crazy rolls that everyone likes and thinks is "sushi." (It's not.) Here's my advice: If you're going to offer nigiri and sashimi, then don't use the very thin pre-cut slices you're using for AYCE rolls. If I'm paying five dollars for two pieces of nigiri, I expect to have more than a hint of fish on my plate. I really do hope you succeed, but if your focus is going to be the AYCE crowd, then I doubt we'll be back again. read more

Charges for leftovers and you are not allowed to share. Food was decent overall. Service was decent. I personally have a problem with this. If you've already paid for the food, you should NOT have to pay again. Also, if you have paid for the food, you should be allowed to share. Not sure how they're allowed to get away with this or ripoff customers to such an extent. read more

My family tried Oh Sushi as it is in our neighborhood and we were very happy. We had an excellent dinner meal at reasonable prices. We started with miso soup and I had the Chicken Teriyaki that was full of nice tender pieces of chicken and a yummy teriyaki sauce. We all tried it and loved it. Husband had the Fish and Chips which had nice pieces of fish (maybe cod?) that was tempura battered and fried, very good! My son had one of the specialty rolls. Sorry I forgot which one. We all shared our food and we were very, very pleased. We will definitely be back and it is so nice to have a really good restaurant in that space again. I hope people will give it a try, give it a chance. We need more excellent restaurants in Beaverdale. Oh and the service was great and everyone was very friendly! read more

At first I was not sure if the place was even open, but the sign said OPEN, so my wife and I went in to give it a try. Good service, very friendly, the food was excellent. If you are going to eat much, it can be pricey, but if you opt for the "All You Can Eat" option, it is well worth the price. My wife said she was not that hungry, so she ordered individual items. It ended up costing her much more than my "AYCE" choices. As said, the food is great, the service is good, the servers are friendly, and the owner is a good person to meet. I was extremely pleasantly surprised with the volume and quantity of the food. Even though a bit expensive, it is definitely worth the price. I would highly encourage anyone and everyone to make the trip to Beaverdale for the food. You will enjoy and definitely go back. read more
