    Hand roll/ sushi burrito menu

Food came out in a good amount of time. Ordered the Beauty & Beast special roll & Black Dragon special roll - both were good but I preferred the Beauty & Beast more as the flavor was tastier to me.

The place was packed and we sat at the sushi bar which was perfect to watch the sushi being made and get a great view of the entire restaurant. Staff was great and response. We ordered and did wait longer then expected but it was worth it as the food was delicious and wonderfully plated.

4.4* (out of 5) Food: 5* Atmosphere: 5* Value: 4* Service: 3* Would I go back / Recommend?: 5* (Definitely) Total check/person: $41 03/29/2025 Tonight was my wife's turn to pick our destination after Mass and she chose Hana Ramen Sushi again (we were there last October and she really enjoyed her ramen). Tonight was another good stop that we both enjoyed. The food was once again fantastic (details in the following paragraph) - and that is the main criteria when selecting a restaurant. While communicating with our waiter was easier this time, the food delivery was quite slow to our standards - on the order of 20-30 minutes for each course after it was ordered. Tonight, we started off with a Cucumber Martini (with Jalapeno) and a Salted Caramel Milk Tea (I gave up alcohol for Lent). The Jalapeno in the Cucumber Martini was a pretty strong kick and my wife enjoyed it. And yes, the Salted Caramel Milk Tea was quite delicious and yet was pretty light - didn't come across as thick, syrupy or overly sweet. We started by sharing a Pork Gyozo Soup (see picture) that was very good, then decided to add on a Hana Pizza (see picture). That Hana Pizza was definitely the highlight of my experience - a very light crust, a peanut based sauce with some fresh sushi and veggies to top it off! My wife ordered the Combo Yaki Soba (see picture) for her meal and I opted for the Chicken Pineapple Fried Rice (see picture). We really liked both dishes and would highly recommend them. 10/12/2024 We have wanted to stop here several times and finally took the opportunity to do so tonight after a 4 year gap. The exterior was modern, clean and inviting and the interior continued that vibe. Just like the "this place must be authentic" feeling you get in a good Mexican restaurant (when the wait staff struggles a bit with the English language), you immediately pick up on that here...but with Japanese instead of Spanish as the core language. We started by enjoying a Lucky Buddha beer and Raspberry Mule (see picture), followed by a delicious Ginger Salad (see picture). My wife then opted for Spicy Chicken Ramen (see picture) for her meal and I ordered a Spicy Scallop Roll (see picture) and Tuna Avocado Roll (see picture). We really enjoyed all of the food! The service was average...partially due to the wait time and partially due to the challenge of communicating with our waitress - it needed to repeat things several times in different ways to assure understanding. The value was above average - $31/person with everything mentioned (including tax). 2021 Stopped for dinner tonight and enjoyed the food. Communication was a bit of a challenge, as it wasn't until the 3rd person coming to help before they understood the question "what is the Seasonal Choice tap beer on the menu", but the food quality was excellent! I started with a Hana Fuji Apple Sake (see picture) which had a strong apple flavor without being too sweet. Next, we enjoyed an Angry Z Special Roll followed by a Spicy Crunch Crab Roll (see pictures) based on our waitress' recommendation. Both of them were delicious and highly recommended. Finally, we finished with the Spicy Chicken Ramen with Spicy sauce (see picture) - very good! If you like sushi rolls or ramen, the food is definitely worth the stop. Seafood Ramen

I've been here a couple times and enjoyed their ramen. I've gotten it to go so they pack it in a container that separates the noodles from the soup to keep it from going to soggy which is nice! This time, I tried the seafood ramen. You are able to choose your ramen soup base which is cooked. It came with lots of seafood and they put the spicy sauce to the side so I was able to adjust to my liking! I also got the spicy crab roll. It was a big roll and very delicious. It was a lot of food for a good price and hit the spot for me!

Let's Celebrate Asian American -Native American - Pacific Islander Month by visiting your favorite Asian Restaurant and ordering your favorite entree -- mine is the delicious Japanese Fried Rice. The fresh and aesthetically appealing presentation does not disappoint in taste. The grilled chicken and layered rice and veggies were served with the precise temperature -- making every morsel highly enjoyable. The friendly wait staff was very attentive and detailed in replenishing my soda as well as making sure I was pleased with the service. Every balanced bite made you want to stay and rest awhile as you enjoyed the warm clean decor.

Spicy seafood ramen sub udon noodles

Had an awesome work mentor/mentee lunch at Hana Ramen Sushi. Spicy Seafood ramen (sub udon noodles) was bomb. Sushi Deluxe was fantastic; nice, THICK slices of fish (no see-through slices here!). She also added a sweet potato roll, she said it was as delicious as she remembers. She hasn't been back in years so we were glad we came. Izumi Roll (with the seaweed salad on top, for pic reference) was delish. Love the seaweed on top, it's a nice, crunchy touch! Ikura is my favorite nigiri, and theirs was plentiful and my "dessert". I eat them one-by-one at the end of my meal, weirdo I know Jasmine hot tea was a great addition, can't complain about this delicious lunch. They have great lunch specials, if you're interested, but unfortunately for our wallets we wanted all items from the dinner menu!

The food was so good. I had the spicy chicken ramen with shio base. Also, had some sushi. Tuna jalapeño roll and spicy scallop roll. Drank some of the sparkling sake. The place is decorated very nicely. It could a casual dinner or special occasion dinner spot. 10/10

Still good and we still like kiss kiss the best. Black dragon roll and golden roll were underwhelming.

Excellent dinner visit to Hana! Our kids wanted Asian and we knew they like the teriyaki kids dishes so we convinced them to choose here (so we parents can get what we wanted to eat). Over the past few years, we've ordered takeout from here but haven't eaten in for a while. Our kids were in love with the fish tanks. Our daughter has just started to like sushi and she surprised me by ordering the Kids Sushi Mix. Our son had the Kids Shrimp Ramen. My husband had the Cha Shu Ramen (spicy Tonku) and I had an order of Tuna Nigiri and the King Kong Roll. Everything came out quicker than I anticipated. The rolls were very well-made and didn't fall apart. The kids loved their meals and especially liked having the "cheaters" for their chopsticks. My sushi was wonderful. The King Kong was large and filling. It was so tender to chew too. My husband also enjoyed his ramen. Service came to our table the right amount (not too attentive but not dismissive). We may be eating in more often now!

    Spicy garlic edamame

Much better! Not sure how the management changed again, but we decided to give Hana another try and it was a great decision! We really wanted a hot soup, and Hana used to be one of our fave restaurants. We braved it and dined in once again. Service was sooo much better, food was again amazing, and it was exactly what we needed for dinner that night! Hana definitely has the BEST spicy garlic edamame anywhere in Des Moines. The restaurant still has the cozy, Asian decor, and pleasant for having dinner and drinks with friends and family. We are hopeful Hana is on the upswing again and could not be more excited!!

I ordered the vegetable pineapple fried rice. This dish was not strong on flavor. But the ambience is relaxing and well appointed. If I get a chance to return before I leave town, I think I will go for lunch and try a Bento box. Be aware that they close in the afternoon, before their dinner hour.

    Whatever this is for $14...
    A D.

The prices!! We have been here several times before and enjoyed it mostly. The ambiance is loud and cramped at night but workable. This time we came for lunch and the servers did nothing wrong except for the fact that it's gotten so expensive. Seriously. We decided to just buy one ramen lunch to go, and the rest of us decided to go somewhere else. The one meal cost us $20 for a bowl of soup. Then there's this 12oz drink of some kind for $14 if you're thirsty. Guys. Seriously. Lower your prices.

Still excellent food! Service could be better and more attentive. Ordered amazing spider, spicy crab roll, spicy edamame. Restaurant is still modern and upkept. Outdoor seating could be a little refreshed. Every time we visit it is always busy. A typical wait is 20-40 min on any given day. Highly recommend if in the neighborhood and looking for ramen and sushi.
