That kind of communication matters enormously when your family is stressed and trying to make good decisions fast. Our father suffered from bedsores for over a YEAR and nurses had no clue he had a fungal infection until medicare got involved. We had different nurses all the time, the charge nurse Debbie did not care the least about the patient, refused much needed physical therapy several times until we threatened to go to Medicare, we had to complain to health department for bath aid. There are many home health agency that practice home health and care about patients. St. Joseph is NOT one of them.

Sarah Underwood brought her warm smile, calming disposition, and expertise to me and my family during an uncertain time. My family was not 100% sure of the direction we were going to take with my mom since moving to a different state was also an option. Sarah did not pressure us and gave us the time we needed to make the best decision for my mom.. and dad, who at 90 wanted to still take care of everything on his own. As it happened, my mom ended up being admitted to the hospital and then transferred to a rehab center. When Sarah found out where, she paid a visit to my mom in the facility, held her hand and had a good talk. She completely didn't have to, but did anyway. FYI.. I have a picture of their two beautiful smiles! And if that wasn't enough, I was having a tough time getting in touch with a representative at the facility (since I live out of state) Sarah came to the rescue. After being texted, "I'm creating the care plan now and we will keep you posted," I didn't hear from them for three days. Then, while I'm beginning my day of caregiving for my loved one the doorbell rings and, SURPRISE!, their caregiver arrived without any announcement or warning. I was completely shocked and when the caregiver (who was nice) called the office who talked me into letting her stay. Of course, instead of the respite I wanted, now I had to deal with an upset loved one and an unplanned arrival. This actually made this one of the worst days I've had in a long time because I had no idea anyone would show up. I should have sent her away but I was too flummoxed to think straight. Anyway, Chamberlin did make sure to charge my credit card for this unwanted, unrequested visit. I canceled the contract and highly recommend against dealing with this company. In fact, now I'm kind of afraid to even ask for help again knowing that the first time I turned out to be quite a hindrance rather than assistance. ADDENDUM: After this review was posted I was contacted by the owner of the company who wanted me to remove this review. He offered a refund if I would take it down. I felt that to be an ethics violation and refused. He did seem sincere in wanting to make things right although the damage was done. I've re-read my original review and still vouch to its accuracy and honesty. I just learned a refund was issued without preconditions. My experience was still horrid but it's possible it was a learning experience for the company. (I personally learned nothing that will help my situation.) She is an excellent listener, and has a genuine interest in finding a place that fits with your loved one's preferences, needs, and budget. Through Yolanda we uncovered a hidden gem of a private room in a board and care home, with thoughtful staff, organized and caring admins, and in a nice neighborhood. After being there less than a week, my relative told me "I don't miss my old place, and I have no regrets about moving here." That's music to my ears.

I'm not sure what I would have done without Yolanda…read more I called several placement specialists and Yolanda was the only one that responded quickly and immediately started search for a place for my mom. She went over the process which included what pricing we could afford, the level of care that my mom needed, the difference in price between a shared room and private room and the distance we would be willing to travel to visit my mom. She also informed us of what things are covered such as laundry, food preparation, bathing assistance, TV/Internet, mobility assistance, etc. She was very thorough and explained that it's important to gather as much information as possible so that an accurate monthly price quote can be negotiated from the facility who will be providing the services. She also mentioned what type of things the facility cannot do concerning medical assistance that required a higher level facility. She also was very open about places in the area that don't have a good reputation. She also made sure we weren't blind sided by things that might cost us extra so that we could interview the facilities and find out what their particular policies were. For example, based on my mom's particular situation, we would have to pay in addition such things as incontinence supplies, medications, and possibly specialized foods (gluten free). She sent us a report of what facilities might be a match, the pricing range, and distance to us. She also told us she checked the records to see if there were any violations. She worked with us to setup appointments to check out the facilities and encouraged us to ask as many questions as possible. After I visited the facilities, Yolanda followed up and called me to get feedback on what happened. I'm very happy with the level of service I received from her and would recommend her to anyone that wanted plan for a future placement for a loved one.
