While I enjoy this Lifetime Fitness because of the hours, it is fairly expensive. GUEST PROCESS A HASSLE - I also find their guest policy tedious and a negative experience requiring someone visiting, and not a member to download an app and set up a pain of a process. (Having someone sign a 1 page release of liability would be more appropriate. Something that takes less than a minute and does not open you up to unwanted marketing when a member is brining a guest). I've been coming here for over a year now, and these are some things I'd like to note: - The classes are phenomenal. Every instructor I've had, has held class with an enthusiastic and friendly attitude. They also always make sure you're comfortable and engaged. - Overall cleanliness is average/below average, especially in the locker rooms. It's obvious that the cleaning is surface level, so I would recommend always have your feet covered. - It's great that they provide bathroom essentials in the locker room: makeup wipes, razors, cotton balls/swabs, towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. - The gym overall is a bit outdated. Some of the equipment is flaking/ripping and not being replaced. It's usually a bit unorganized and sometimes hard to find equipment because it was misplaced. But, they have plenty of machines that even if it's busy, there's still lots available. - For your guest passes, they make your guest download the app and check in there but it never works - staff will get annoyed with YOU because of this. Overall, I would recommend trying it for yourself and if you believe the price is worth it, then enjoy! read more

Love root yoga , Ben is awesome Feel great after this class . He has a beginner yoga class which is awesome . He has you hold the poses and you get a really great stretch. I go in so beat up and walk out feeling amazing. He plays great music and projects his voice so you can hear him. I wish I could go daily to his yoga Great instructor. I've been coming here off and on for about 4 years. This is a great facility. They have a lot to offer. Climbing wall, in door and out door pool, hot tubs , sauna, group classes, private training, basketball courts, pickle ball ,hair salon, cafeteria and even a work station. I'm sure I am missing some other stuff but you get the point. 2nd floor is where all the weights and treadmills are. The parking lot could be pack and you go inside doesn't seem so bad. Facility is pretty clean with helpful staff. In the summer for the kids they even have water slides outside. They have a full parking lot not need to worry about parking. It is kinda of pricey. If your just lifting weights and not using any of the accommodations this might not be the place for you but come check it out!! read more

Not going to lie, very nice facility, a lot of options for you to work out and great swimming pools & spas. Feels like a resort. Like many have said, it is expensive and the management tries to take as much money as they can. When I came in for my "free" trial day, they tried to get me to buy $800/month worth of personal training. They made me feel guilty by asking me to go on the scale and saying that my muscle mass % isn't where it should be. I told them, if they can speak to my boss for an $800/month raise, maybe i'll consider the personal training. During my "free" trial day, I signed up for the month to month. After looking closely at the charge, I saw that they charged me for that day!!! That always put a bad taste in my mouth. Why say it is free, when you discreetly charge the member when they sign up that day? Cancelling membership is difficult as you would think because they are trying to keep their revenue. I think I had to pay an additional month before my membership cancellation actually got pushed through. That daily charge on the "free" trial day wasn't much, but it just shows what they value. I'm revising my rating to one star due to ongoing issues with Miguel, a supervisor at Lifetime. He has been consistently rude and accusatory. He wrongly blamed my friend and me for issues with the sauna ( the breaker tripped that's why it stopped working, he blamed us for putting water on it and blamed others earlier said by members, coming in with a very nasty attitude) and falsely accused us of unlocking equipment we were trying to help others with( the cabinet for the leg compressions were unlocked and a group of new members asked for help, I assisted them and when Miguel came, he right away blamed us for "unlocking" the cabinet and how was it open, being extremely nasty with us and condescending, the new members were in shock with how they were treated) . Instead of calmly explaining policies, he was aggressive and disrespectful. Leadership should set a positive example, and unfortunately, Miguel does not. Confirmed by other members, Miguel has always been rude, disrespectful and always has a negative attitude. Leadership leads by example and sadly, he might be one of the reasons I cancel my membership. read more

Visiting this club is like taking a mini vacation. And about as expensive too. If you can afford $200 plus per month, and you use the club regularly, it's worth it. A lot of health insurance plans offer a discounted rate for health clubs, so do a bit of research before coughing up $200/mo. It is a beautiful fitness center with a ton of amenities, but the staff members are rude and condescending. Went for a tour of the fitness center and while I was waiting for a member of staff the the front desk staff was very selective of who belonged and who didn't belong in facility. These are a few of the things I heard while waiting: 1. Sorry, your gym is in the city of Chicago now only, guest asked what was the difference, desk personnel said our gym is bigger with better amenities. 2. We don't offer day passes. 3. We don't offer membership packages with any corporate entities, guest providers offer letter from their HR Department. 4. Your membership does not include this location, your home location is only in Schaumburg. 5. We don't offer same day membership, we'll provide you with a link to join the gym, you can return once its been completed. 6. Guest aren't allowed unless they have a current membership. Once I was given a tour, I asked the staff member what was the issue with the membership locations, because I was coming from Equinox. I currently had access to all gyms, but watching how guest of the facility were treated and potentially new members were handled was disappointing and rather alarming. read more

They say masks are required and have signs plus messages coming over the intercom reminding everyone of the mask policy. However, past the front desk, the policy is not required at all. I've observed people checking in without a mask. Every other gym I know of in the area is requiring them right now. When I asked about the mask policy at the desk, I was told that Lifetime policy is that masks are recommended but not required. Employees don't wear them either. After speaking with the Lake County (IL) Health Department I was informed that they have received several complaints about this location. All have been reported to local and corporate management. Seems like those complaints are being ignored. Makes me wonder if they are willing to put customer safety at risk this way, where else are they cutting corners? read more

I've been coming here about 4 years on and off since it's close to my home. Worst, most overpriced place. Half of basketball courts have been demolished, dust in the air and debris everywhere. 3/4 indoor pool lanes frequently reserved. Children everywhere. Dirty, stinky showers with drain covers missing leaving gaping drain hole in the ground. Rude management. Large, empty multi-purpose rooms like yoga room off limits to members unless class is in session, even if I want to pay extra for it. No medical on staff if anyone gets injured. Random, unexplained extra charges on my credit card that I've had to dispute. And $250/m for a couple and also fees from freezing account when out of town. A greedy, cost cutting business. read more

My hubby has been trying to get me to join Life Time for awhile now. To be supportive in his efforts to get to the gym, I agreed to accompany him...as far as the Life Cafe. I'm not into working out publicly, so this review is for the cafe. It was later in the afternoon, so the cafe was pretty quiet. It was exactly the type of environment I needed to wrap up a work project. It was bright and sunny, calm and clean, and I was surrounded by a fabulous variety of healthy and fresh food choices to select from. Some of the items are a bit on the pricey side, but I scored the "limited time" $5 bargain menu Southwest breakfast burrito. It wasn't huge, but it was a nice portion size for an afternoon treat. Cage-free eggs, brown rice, black beans, roasted veggies, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla. It was fresh, flavorful, and had a nice kick to it. For an extra $1 I added a fresh and hot cup of Peet's coffee. Comfy seating and fast Internet. A really great experience. Now, if only my hubby can find a way to get me into the actual club to work out next time. read more

This gym has gone downhill since Covid began. Prices keep going up but hours available came down. The cleanliness of the gym has also decreased significantly, not to mention the attitude of their staff being below par. Lifetime has also destroyed one of their basketball courts and their turf field to implement pickleball. Now, they are about to raise prices again to pay for the new pickleball courts. NO THANK YOU. You want to appeal to a different strata of members, have them pay for their court as well. read more

I've been a member for about five years. In the past year, they've taken away almost every perk of being a member, limited the hours, yet raised the rate/prices of everything. The staff has turned into policing a-holes and you can't enjoy time in the pool without hearing constant whistles going off from the lifeguards. I have visiting life time from January, it's been 9 months. Everything was good. But for that last two months my daughter was bitten three times. First time and second time I understood it and just talked with the manager about this issues. But this time was very big bite mark. And my daughter felt very stressed after this situation and she slept very bad these days. And two days ago I complained about this problem to the manager Erica. She told me that she will check it. Yesterday she told me that I need to wait one more day and she didn't do anything, okay, I didn't say nothing and was waiting until today, today I came here, she wasn't there and the receptionist told me that he will call me when she will be there! I usually go to LT Old Orchard but visited the Vernon Hills location several times this week. At the same price level (onyx), this LT is hands down the better one. It has all the good stuff that LT Old Orchard has: kids' academy, rock wall, spin studio, yoga studio, indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, Life cafe, Life spa, basketball courts, a wide array of exercise classes, and all of the state-of-the-art cardio and strength machines. However, in addition to being much cleaner and more well organized, LT Vernon Hills also has several facilities that are not offered at LT Old Orchard, such as squash, ping-pong, and an indoor soccer field. LT Vernon Hills also has a much bigger jungle gym for the kiddos and a higher and more challenging rock wall. Keep it up, LT Vernon Hills! read more

I was never in love with this gym, but it had what I needed, it was close, and Zumba with Jessica was always fun (if you could get in). Yes, this gym is costly. However, I have canceled my membership in the wake of the pandemic given that Life Time isn't taking it seriously. Life Time has failed to uphold the state issued requirements to prevent the spread of COVID. Masks are not enforced--in an environment that is otherwise conducive to the spread of coronavirus. I've visited several LT Fitness Clubs over the years and Vernon Hills is by far my favorite. First, I can't say enough about the staff. They are extremely professional, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful from GM , Cafe Staff, Trainers and sales staff. The locker room passed my "clean/sanitary" test with flying colors and the club itself has so many amenities I would be hard pressed to think of one they don't have! I know this place is expensive & most of my friends & family say I am crazy for having a membership here for a family of 4, but it's been the best thing I have invested it. As a stay at home mom to three kids, one being special needs, this place has been a blessing for me. I can let my kids go to the kids center and not have to worry because I know they will be entertained and staff actually cares. The other gyms by our house either didn't have child care or had SUPER LIMITED hours or the employee that was in charge of taking care of the kids was never even there to do so. On top of that L.A. Fitness (aka Esporta Fitness now) hounded me the entire time i was in there about signing a damn contract and were rude AF. I will happily drive 20-30mins to this gym because of how we are treated and that employees are actually friendly and take time to help & not give an attitude about it. Now, i'm not saying we could never be treated bad here because we all have bad days, but just in a bigger picture, I love this place for our family. read more

I typically never write reviews, but I felt the need to specifically for this location after my most recent visits there. My friend brings me to the Vernon Hills location as a guest and the only reason I have not signed up myself is due to the unprofessional staff. Every time I require assistance or have a question I feel like I am a hinderance to the employees here. I'm either met with a half-assed response, or a disturbed look as if to say "can i help you" with the most bothersome glare. Not to mention the fact that any time I do ask help from an associate, I seem to always be interrupting them in the middle of a conversation that nine times out of ten, have not been work-appropriate topics. An individual I have had this issue with I believe goes by the name of "Joc" who, might I add, needs to be reminded of what behavior is deemed professional, and what is not. It's not that I try to eavesdrop on these conversations, because I really could care less about the drama going on between the women at this gym, it's that the times I've been around a group of these employees "working," they tend to discuss inappropriate sexual matters concerning the male employees, NONE of which I would like to hear about!! And it's like they don't even notice that there are members within earshot of them! It's disgusting and highly disrespectful to the people who are paying good money to come to this gym to get a good workout in and clear their minds, something I feel like I can no longer do without feeling like I'm intruding. You would think grown adults would act a little more, well, GROWN, and act their age, especially considering there families and children roaming the building as well. Please keep the dirty conversations on hold until off the clock and off the premises, shall we ladies? read more

Wow, am I impressed with this facility! I've been frequenting LA Fitness for several years and came to Lifetime as a guest. The facility is so incredibly gorgeous and neat. In comparison to LA Fitness, there is SO much more equipment here and everything is so much tidier. There is also a fabulous range of equipment. Most of the equipment requires touch-screen use, which is really cool and current of them to offer. I've been on a hunt for a good rock-climbing wall and was blown away by the one I saw on my visit. Aside from the equipment, there is a salon and cafe. The locker rooms are also amazing. Everything is done up in nice dark wood and you get a locker card upon check-in. The locker rooms have saunas, hot tubs, and a separate sauna that pumps eucalyptus mist through the air. There are lots of toiletries available for use, as well. While this gym is truly a gem, you have to pay up to use it. LA is $24.99/mo for me, while this place is over $100/mo. Not ideal for me in terms of price and location but it is a really nice facility overall. read more

I prefer this location over the Old Orchard facility primarily due to the parking situation. I've NEVER had to circle the parking lot for a spot, there's LOTS of spots available here, even when the club is packed. It's kind of funny that people try to hunt parking spots as close to the entrance as possible. Wouldn't an extra 200 feet of walking only enhance their overall exercise experience? The club itself is immaculate. Plenty of treadmills, eliptical machines, stationary bikes, and weight machines to choose from, never a wait. Great pool. Locker rooms are very clean and there are LOTS of lockers available. There are a number of gyms in the suburbs to choose from. I think Lifetime is the best. A bit expensive, maybe. Just visited this Lifetime as I am from out of town, but I am a member where I live . I wanted to bring my brother who could be a possible future member so he could see how it is. We walk in and I check in to find out that this club is a level above mine which is fine. I've been to other lifetimes such as the Lifetime Sky in NYC where they allowed me a grace visit which is great and they were so nice! I wish I got the name of the lady who I talked to hear at Vernon Hills because she was so rude and on a power trip. I understand I am not at the level to go to the club here in Vernon Hills, but I am still a member of lifetime and a human so I should be treated with some respect. She told me I could do a grace visit, but she was telling me she really shouldn't let me in there and that a note was going to be put on my account. So I understood I could come in on my grace visit but I wanted to use my guest pass so I could show my brother what lifetime was all about because it's a great gym. She looked at my brother and told him rudely that he would have to pay, and was insinuating that we should just leave. She was telling us other gyms we should go to basically trying to get us to leave. It sounds exaggerated, but it's hard to describe how she really was and how her tone and choice of words were. We ended up just leaving because I did not want to deal with her anymore. It's sad because my brother obviously wouldn't want to be apart of the Lifetime family after that experience. It just felt like she was trying to belittle us. There's ways to explain things to people and nice ways of doing it. It's basic customer service which is one of the main traits a lifetime employee should have as I should know because I actually worked for lifetime in the past. I was a member for over a year. Rest of family still is a member. I've yet to walk into a nicer facility. Even the floors and locker room lockers seem upscale. Place is always clean. Just love love love the spinning classes. The spinning room is huge with plenty of space. Even see a Chicago Bear in there once in a while. Front desk is friendly. Did have a massage there once. Really nice area. The pool is a great bonus for what you pay in dues. The outdoor pool does get really crowded during the week with toddlers and their parents. We do love the zero depth indoor pool for our young ones. What a great way to build confidence. The kids club is the best I've ever seen. As an owner of a sports training business, I rent alot of gyms in these facilities. Nothing in the northshore even compares to this kids club. Very secure as each kid gets a sticker on their back with their name and contact info. They have doors where only the parent on record can take them through.
