My wife and I were searching for a stairlift as we both are reaching the age where walking upstairs was challenging and daunting. There seems to be limited dealerships but contacted 2. The first company could not provide the service so we contacted Mike from Ohana Stairlift. An on site evaluation was performed by Patrick and was told they can provide us with a stairlift. What a relief! But we were in the process of renovating our home and needed to find a window. The earliest would be 1 1/2 years out. After all the renovation was completed I contacted Mike and asked for a re quote. Mike did the evaluation and provided a quote 5 days later. We decided to proceed with the install. What was surprising was the time required. From signing the contract to installation took about 2 months. Stairlift is custom built and manufactured in Florida! What service!!! A date and time for installation was agreed. Patrick and Randy were the technicians. After introduction they proceeded the installation. We were surprised how fast the install took . 2 1/2 HOURS!!!. What professionals!! Patrick then provided us with instructions on the operation of the lift. I tried the lift and was impressed with it. My wife later tested it and was impressed. My husband us a VA Vietnam Vet. He was recently approved by VA for a stairlift. Several contractors can bid for the job. Well we had one from the past (dont want to dirty their name) that only have 1 representative on island to fix our older stairlift that we paid out of pocket 7 years ago. That pparticular company charges $800.+ a year for maintenance. Mind you we have to wait a long time to be serviced. We informed VA and they claimed my husband can have one through VA. Well two companies called to get estimates. 1 company I had to take all the photos, count the steps etc. Ohana stairlift came out, did their assessment to even inquire of electricity source and then provide pros and cons and what my husband feel comfortable with. I called to get a chair lift service on a home I purchased. It's an exterior model and I am unsure when the last service date was. They did an install about 10 year ago (2015) and also replaced the battery when it need to be replaced. The lift is still working well today. No problems with it at all. It's been very reliable. We have the Pinnacles brand, it was installed over carpet. We need to replace the carpet with plank flooring. Ohana Stairlifts people will be coming out to remove and re-install the unit. Glad they are still in business because the flooring companies aren't able to move it. My parents live in a townhome and having the stairlift enabled them to remain in their home and in their community. read more

Last month I had a bad accident in our townhome and broke my femur in two places. As we were planning my discharge from the post-surgery rehabilitation facility it became quite apparent that the stairs we had leading to the main floor where our kitchen/living room/bedroom were would be an impediment for me in my ability to recover at home. As full recovery is estimated to be about a year we decided to invest in a stairlift so that I wouldn't become a "shut-in." We called everyone that came up on our initial Google search for a local company. The two leading stairlift companies say in their online ads that they are local to our island of Kauai but they are not. While their products have more options and are less expensive than local choices, their installation times were 6-8 weeks out and we had to pay travel costs for warranty services so those were out. The pricing we received from both local companies (both on Oahu, which is a very short flight from Kauai) was similar but Ohana got our business because after being contacted on Monday and sending us a full quote on Tuesday, they were able to install our stairlift on Friday morning - the day I was being discharged. So that was just amazing for us. So far we are happy with the stairlift. It is very basic but it does what I need it to which is go up and down, and folds up nicely so that it's not very intrusive when not in use. Called Oahana Stairlifts on a Thursday afternoon and left a message. Mike called me back within a couple of minutes. He was very accommodating and easy to talk to. We set up an house visit appointment for the following Monday. Patrick came by on Monday to check out my in-laws' house that had what he called '180 stairs' (2 rises). He was very cool local guy, very pleasant in demeanor, knowledgeable and not pushy. He laid out the differences between a two lift system vs a custom one piece wrap around. There was a significantly higher price and long wait time for the custom system. All things considered, and after reviewing some of the reviews for the custom system, we decided to go with the two lift option. The chair lifts were installed on the same week Friday. I liked that, since we needed it installed asap. it's been about a month, and so far so great! My father in law uses it to get upstairs safely. It was a great experience. unable to recommend. 2 lifts installed. Grade F-. Two custom stairlifts, an interior and exterior, were disasters. The person requiring the stairlift died waiting over a year for the defective parts to be replaced on the exterior stairlift. After two years I am still waiting. The interior stairlift was returned immediately after installation as it was unsafe and not as per design as contracted. The existing interior marble stairs were permanently damaged as the installers never measured anything and continued to drill more holes with an incorrect drill bit to reposition the unit. The cracks in the stairs caused by them using the incorrect drill bit are unrepairable and the repaired filled holes are also glaringly obvious. Every single part on the exterior stairlift was the wrong part as Ohana acknowledged.They would be replaced. After two years Michael still has not completed replacement of defective rusted out support parts that were immediately apparent soon after installation. Also the stairlift was short and parts were needed to extend it. Runaround non-service is the normal mantra attitudes as in "I'll talk to my service guy; "I'll call the manufacturer, " I'll check the warehouse; " I'll ask my boss Mike", I'm Still waiting to hear from manufacturer, I didn't get the message that parts were needed; they are on the way.
