Owner is Galveston native. Great selection. He knows the history of Galveston. Takes care of his locals and customers.

Great spot!!! We needed a pair of sandals and this place has billabong, rip curl, reef, etc. all the brands you hope a surf shop would have. But the best part was the service. The owner helped us and was not only super nice and friendly but full of island knowledge. Honestly go here your first day for some shopping, they have cute Ohana surf shirts, and then ask for tips on things to do and places to eat. I highly recommend! read more

This is my first negative Yelp review but I felt impelled to post what happened so maybe Boog the Owner or Manager will make sure to improve communication with potential customers. After dropping into the store a week ago and identifying a cool short Miller board at a good price I called about this last Friday and inquired if it could be held until the 30th when I got paid again. He indicated "Yes, nobody has been looking at it and that it had passed 60 days (actually it was coming up on 90 days but no mention of a price decrease was on the sticker and the girls did not mention it when I was in the store) it had been there for sale greater 60 days so it could be discounted down to $203 out the door and he offered to call me if someone else expressed interest so I'd have the chance to pay full price or pass. I just called this evening to make sure all was set for the 30th (3 days from now) and he casually said, "No, one of my associates had sold it at full price". He said he'd talked to Miller about my interest and they said that's fine but if you get full price take it. I said, "You agree to call me first". He responded, "Oh, well I was not at the store yesterday" so obviously the communication between staff was not happening relative to my interest. So, uncool on Ohana' and Millers' part. Way too much Tillman Fertita (Landry's owner) behavior running around these days, even at a surf shop on the Galveston Seawall. I need to find a place off the beaten path that is trustworthy with their word. read more

Fantastic experience! I worked with Boog to order a surfboard that I couldn't find in stock anywhere in town. I was kind of intimidated to start the process - as a newer surfer, I don't always know all the right terminology. He was incredibly helpful in educating me about different features & specs and explained everything in a way that was super easy to understand. I've found that some surfers, especially shop managers/owners that I've met can be pretty condescending and dismissive, especially of less experienced surfers like me, but that was absolutely not the case here. Will 100% be bringing my business back here next time!!! read more

My daughter and I chose Ohana for a 2 hour surfing lesson with Anthony yesterday. Wow! What a blast we had and Anthony was a great instructor! I think we found our new sport...something we can both do! There's a mimosa yoga and surfing group session I'm definitely going to try as well. I found surfing to be a great workout and a lot of fun! Rented a surfboard. It was in poor repair. Only had the center of three fins (would have been okay if they had the larger single fin) and this found i slipped sidewise a lot in the waves. The leash was also broken in that the Velcro was shredded and didn't stick. After losing the board a few times I tied it in a knot around my leg. Pretty uncomfortable. read more

My son (13) and nephew (15) had an hour long lesson today with Chloe. The staff were very professional and 20-30 minute video was fun and informative. Lesson may have been too short so two hour might be better. Chloe did great and boys learned a lot. I recommend this place if you're going to try surfing in Galveston I'm sure other areas have better waves but the people here are great. read more

Went there last summer to get my ten-year-old some lessons. They were super-helpful, the kid was up on the board and "shooting the curl" (that's what he says, anyway) in minutes. Then they rented us a board for a very affordable price for a few days after, and he had a great time. I recommend the place for sure! read more

My 12 year old nephew wanted new skateboard wheels while he visited me last week and I know absolutely nothing about skating, so I took him here. The gentleman that was working was absolutely amazing with my nephew. He led him through the whole process of picking out the wheels, he described things to him, answered his questions, and then put the wheels on. The wheels were expensive, I think 50 bucks, but it was absolutely worth it. It was the kind of purchasing experience that Wal-mart could never give you. I don't know how often I'll need skating supplies, but if I ever do, I'll definitely be going back here. Oh, and the atmosphere of the place is very boutique-like while not being the 'pretentious surf shop'. It is incredibly inviting. read more

I called Ohana two days before we were heading to Galveston and they were able to accommodate my 11 year old for a 2 hour personal lesson. Missouri was an amazing instructor and even spent extra time with him after the lesson was over. My son was raving about the lesson and I will definitely use them again in the future. read more
