I asked for a quote and got back really fast with the pricing and different tinting options available for my vehicle. I got 35% and asked for ceramic. They were very helpful with the different options of ceramic tint by giving me a demonstration with a lamp inside the store. You would put you hand near the lamp light and then they would provide the different ceramic think and you really can feel the difference of the heat from each level. I decided to go with the S7 ceramic. I also wanted my front visor strip to be done for an extra $25. They told me the wait would be around an hour and 30 minutes. I dropped off my car and went to target which is not to far from the area. Within an hour I got a call that my car was ready for pick up and i was surprised that it was finished pretty fast. Once I got there they went over what they did to my car as well as give you the warranty papers and directions on what not to do while the tint is fresh (open windows, pop bubbles bc moisture etc.) My car didn't have tint before and I gotta say it makes a huge difference in two different ways. The first way is by the looks, it really makes your car pop and another is how cooler it is in the car while driving or getting in the car after it's been sitting in the hot sun during the day. Ohana Tinting tinted my new car and were very understanding when I had to cancel my initial appointment, the day before, due to issues I encountered upon taking delivery of my vehicle from the dealership. They're easy to contact via the Yelp message app and I was able to reschedule my appointment as soon as I resolved the issues with the dealership. The final product was great! The tint settled nicely. Not only does the tint look nice but it also makes a huge difference in heat. They have an air conditioned waiting area with a TV and restroom. If you have a Tesla, highly recommend Ohana Tinting. They tint the large back window with one large single piece of tint, unlike other tint shops I received quotes from. Unfortunately Ohana tinting doesn't treat you like family, or at least not any I would claim. Tinting cars used to be an art form of sorts because you had to really know how to hand cut tint without hesitation or the wrong pressure because you'd get uneven cuts or small frayed edges. That's all in the past thanks to tech and machines which scan 3d images and create templates for every make and model. So basically all a tint company needs to do is take those prefabbed tint pieces and uses the right amount of soapy water to apply them to your car. Then with a squeegee they have to push the air out from the center to the edges and possibly contour the edges if there is air there as well. We used to use a heat gun sometimes for small bubbles or creases but tint is way better now, and for the most part unnecessary. So now that you know a little about tinting autos you know the hardest part is done by a computer, the actual cutting and shaping of the tint. So...the process is actually very simple and any of you could probably do it with the cut outs after watching a YouTube video or 2. They charge to remove tint, like most places and prices will vary depending on how difficult it is to remove such are if there's already cracking or bubbling and the tint doesn't come off easy or tears. Most times a heat gun is used to the inside and outside of the window to loosen the tint enough to pull it off easier. My one window that had tint the back window cost me $59 and there was no bubbles or tears or cracks. They have packages and for a car ( 4 door not hatchback) prices range from around $240 for basic tint which is okay for looks but doesn't block UV very well. Theres a midgrade package for around $350 which includes ceramic tint which is much better quality and does a much better job of blocking UV rays. They use Llumar IRX, which is a top of the line tint and comes with a lifetime guarantee. It also comes with a $550 price tag but has IR or infrared ray blocking and claims it block 99% of UV rays. If you want a runner strip across the top of your windshield it's an extra $50 or $60 dollars I believe. The guy who greeted me both times was very helpful and even scanned my rear window to test the grade of tint so I could decide if it would match the new tint or to replace it. Sadly, that's where the customer service ends. They have a waiting area with a bathroom containing a toilet that looks like it survived a war and was put in there. They don't let you see your car being tinted, most likely because the process is fairly easy. And they don't update you at all. They take your car and basically 2-2 1/2 hr later give you back your keys. They don't clean the soap off your car windows, both times my car was returned with soap film and streaks all over as was my car door panels. I also had to return the next day due to 4 out of 5 windows needing to be redone due to dust, bubbles and streaks in tint. Exactly what you want when you just dropped $600 on tint right? Sadly there are choke tint shops on the island where customer service and quality is much better. I came to review this place during to the ratings being so high but imagine, like so many places on yelp, their friends were the ones posting reviews. TLDR I would recommend talking with your friends and family on where to go if you need tint, but spare yourself the experience I had. There are also precut tints available from places like Amazon for a lot of cars now so that's always an option as well to DIY. I would never return there if it's not to use life time warranty if needed, Good luck! So I decided to give only 4 stars for my tinting experience at Ohana today. After doing research I chose to go with them because they had the best reviews and the pricing was within my budget. Upon picking up my Van I saw that there were black shoe footprints and smudges all over my rugs in my Van. I was extremely disappointed. I didnt think to ask if they were going to cover the floors because I thought that it was a standard practice to do so. I was pleased with the tint job that was done, but was just bummed when I saw my rugs. Its not a new vehicle but it was new to me as I just purchased the Van 2 weeks ago. I havent had the chance to buy mats yet as I mentioned I just got the car 2 weeks ago. Maybe it was my fault for not asking if they would cover the floors, again I assumed it was standard practice to cover them. Idk. Had a great experience here. I love that they let you book your appointment online. They'll also send reminder texts before your appointment. Ohana Tinting is located down from Hawaii Self Storage. GPS/Google Maps will lead you there, but to make the easiest turn closest to where they are in their complex, look for the small sign that says Ohana Tinting on Lauwiliwili St (it will be on the right hand side). If you're unsure of what tint you're getting, they'll show you the different films they have available, and they have a heat lamp that they can use with the different grades of window tint so you can literally feel how the higher grades of ceramic tint block out more heat from getting into the vehicle. My vehicle took about 2 hours total, a little longer than most appointments probably since I had the moonroof to do as well. The waiting room is really nice, so if you're like me and have to wait there, it's not a big deal. They have a nice seating area with A/C, a flat screen with netflix, water, Keurig, WIFI.... It's a few minutes walk away from the Kapolei Commons as well, but I chose to just wait there since I had work to do on my laptop anyway. I opted for the Ceramic S9 35% (legal) for my windows, and got the cheaper film in 5% for the moonroof. I can definitely feel the difference in how much less hot my car is after being parked in the sun for a few hours. It's been about 2 days since the install, and the tint has cured nicely without bubbles/peeling. I would definitely bring my next vehicle here. read more

Told me, the customer that were way past repairing there less than professional workmanship, absolutely refused to fix the bubbles and the left over old tint which I payed in full to have it remedied. He yelled at me basically calling me a theft for informing them the removed my rear window tint. I've never been so insulted by a so called manager. When I asked him for the owners name, he compared it to me asking a McDonald's manager for the name of the owner of the restaurant. WHAT!!
