This is the second basement I have had Ohio State Waterproofing complete work on. The last house had a crack in the basement wall and they "repaired" the crack so the wall would not continue to shift or leak. This time, before I signed Ohio State Waterproofing's contract I did have another basement waterproofing company come out to inspect and estimate the work that needed to be completed to make my basement dry. That company's recommendation was the same as Ohio State Waterproofing. This house needed extensive work done. Including having the foundation sealed on the outside and a sub floor drainage system installed inside on the basement floor which included two sump pump systems in addition to the one I already have. Anthony, Joe, Jesus, Jose and Alex were here for five days doing a complete inside and outside waterproofing project on my 125 year old home. Anthony took the time to explain everything clearly, which really helped me understand the process. Each member of the crew were very polite, respectful and careful to keep mud and dirt at a minimum in my entryway while they removed dozens of five gallon buckets of concrete and rubble. They were careful when digging outdoor around the house foundation not to disturb any of my garden. They leveled the dirt around the house when finished. They had to remove patio bricks to dig but stacked the bricks neatly to the side. Each day they completed their work for the day they were careful to clean mud and dirt from basement stairs and landing. Joe even came back to the house once and was cleaning the entry way with towels and detergent on his hands and knees. Each day before they left Anthony had me walk through the work they completed that day, explained what was work was done, asked if I had any questions or concerns and told me what work they would be completing the next day. The new concrete that was laid looks clean and level. The crew of gentleman really worked hard each day in spite of the very cold weather and snow and were not "goofing off." They even shoveled my sidewalk from the driveway to the house so as not to keep tracking snow inside. As the work was just completed today I cannot attest to how dry my basement is yet but believe after seeing the work that was completed that I will finally have a dry basement going forward. I am anxious to know after the first heavy rain in spring and will come back to leave another review at that time. I can't say enough good things about OSW. Salesman came out & did a quote. Yes, it was high, but you get what you pay for. He talked to the supervisor & the supervisor came out & talked with me. He took off $6k & stretched my loan from 10 to 15 years so it was affordable. The crew came out Wednesday 11/2/2022. Very polite young men. Cleaned up after themselves, washed the cups they used & the foreman, DJ, mopped my kitchen floor when they left the first day. The 3rd day they used the back yard spigot and it didn't shut all the way off. I called a plumber to come fix it & called OSW. When the plumber was done, I called OSW & they paid them over the phone! It cost me nothing. They didn't have enough PVC pipe to complete the back up line going outside, so the foreman promised he'd come the next day & put it in-- and he did. Thete were a few cracks needing filled & not only did they fill those, they checked all the way around making sure they got them all. The crew ( DJ, Shane, Mason, Gage, Lennon, Jacob & Nick) did a beautiful job returning the dirt & grading it off the foundation. They said that once it settles, if I don't like it or it sinks, etc, just call the office & they'll bring dirt out & regrade it to my satisfaction. Each day they were working at the house, the office called me to check in & ask if I was pleased with the progress, was DJ keeping me informed of progress, etc YES! They cleaned up my yard & driveway and made sure that they put back everything they moved. The sump pump discharge line discharged water onto my inclined driveway. They put the crock where the inspector told them & tied into the downspouting line at the back driveway side corner. When the weather got cold, my driveway was a sheet of ice. I called & a supervisor came out to assess the situation. Next day, 11/30/2022, DJ & Lennon came out. They rerouted the discharge line running BRAND NEW PVC LINE the 80 feet from the back corner of the house, a long the side of the house, tied in the front corner down & down the front yard. They HAND dug the trench. I left for work & didn't get to see the yard until the next day. Gorgeous. They were able to work around my rose bush & put the trellis back. They graded the yard beautifully. Sure, it's dirt, but it doesn't just look like they threw it into the trench& didn't care & left a mess. It cost me nothing because it was under warranty. The process started with us knowing of your company from my brother, Matthew Fawver a former employee, as well as seeing you at trade shows. We decided after the in-home estimate to have the work done by you! Exciting.... right well more like overwhelming, its hard to swallow the cost of $13,000 for work that no one really sees! But we knew it was what was needed and what was going to be best for the home and our family! As we eagerly awaited that call we were actually getting excited.....NO MORE puddles in the basement! We got the call and work began! The job started ok but got a little rough after the first day, and not because of Ohio State Waterproofing necessarily. That night after they left the job and I want to mention THEY WERE AMAZING with being very clean!! I was beyond impressed. The foreman Greg was very detailed and was extremely helpful. So here's where they really stepped up.....after one day of work our electricity was acting up, lights flickering, no power in part of house etc. So you can see I start to think, "wow was a disaster how could they mess up my electric!!" The next morning at 6:25am I start texting Greg about the issues he was very calm and reassured me that this was not caused by him and his team, but he would make sure to get it looked at! I was not happy or patient with him to be completely honest but he kept calm and just continued to communicate with me and even had his boss at the job two days in a row just because of all of the issues that were not even their problem. Ohio State Waterproofing and mostly Greg really made this disaster the best it could be. The problem with the electric was not their fault and was an existing problem but is now taken care of. Since we didn't have power to all of our house they went the extra mile and left us with an alternative source of power since we have a two year old and it is winter! He even followed up with us on a Sunday to make sure everything was ok! I am beyond impress with Greg! I hope he is rewarded in some way as many people would not answer some crazy lady texts at 6:25 am! Especially since it was not his problem! I'll try to keep this short as the experience/process was long and annoying. It starts with a quote and someone coming out to "assess" but really he's obviously there to sell. I get it. After him asking what he can do to "close me tonight" several times and me telling him repeatedly it's not happening, he finally gives up 2hrs later. Sorry (not really), but I'm not making a $18,000 decision right then and there without checking around. Fast forward 1 week and they send out the big guns to close me. He proceeds to walk around my basement pointing big issues out repeatedly trying to use fear as a way to get the deal. "Oh look at these walls, that's a huge problem, look at this issue and that...this is really bad". Not bad enough to do the deal of course. To the point that I almost asked him to leave. I really should have and constantly kick myself for not doing it because after a lot of haggling and some time, I signed. The installers were great - very professional, respectable and kept me in the loop with everything. However, they have had to come out 3 different times to fix something because I had water coming in through the block of the basement walls. I assumed digging trenches, putting in drainage lines, waterproofing walls and paying an insane amount for all of it would have taken care of issues I previously had. My mistake. Also, to have to pay $150 (or $250, can't remember) to keep up the warranty just shows what you need to know about the company. It's not a lot of money, it's what it says about them and that if you don't pay it, they won't come back to fix anything. Maybe if it's disclosed upfront I wouldn't have signed because that also says a lot about them. If you can't fix it right the first time, why should I pay for service calls of your terrible work? There are reasons this place has such terrible, terrible reviews. The follow-up comments from them saying "we receive great reviews online and many negative ones here are deceitful" is just odd. Every aspect of this company is first class. It is easy to understand why tens of thousands of people have entrusted their homes to be waterproofed by OSW. On December 17, 2015, at 7:10 a.m., a large truck backed into our driveway. Looking like bees exiting a hive, the workers piled out of the truck and began unloading buckets, pipes, shovels, and all other types of materials and equipment. I greeted Larry, foreman for the job. After a short exchange of greetings, he handed me a small booklet which included answers to several questions which I had anticipated asking. Nevertheless, Larry was always available to answer questions or clarify procedures/conditions and, on a few occasions, called me out to show me why we had a specific water problem and then explained how the problem would be corrected. All of the workers were pleasant, responsive, and on task. Understandably, I was skeptical when told that our job would be completed in two days, considering the large amount of work to be done. However, once I saw how these experienced workers went about their various duties, it was no surprise that the work was completed thoroughly and quickly. Unfortunately, many of today's products and repairs seem to be designed with built-in obsolescence. However, when one considers the quality of the work, the skill of the workers, the number of satisfied customers, and the remarkable long-term warrantee of OSW, it is easy to understand why it is the premiere waterproofing company in Northeast Ohio and beyond. Re: Great Service - Unnecessary Headache Averted! I have been very happy with the work that Ohio State Waterproofing has done. My basement was waterproofed in 2012 and I have not had leaks, moisture problems, or any other water/flooding issues. Recently I was made aware by the City Building Inspector that the sump pump discharge piping must now run to the curbside. Although the City signed off on the current discharge piping at the time of the installation, and it "should" be "grandfathered" as is, I still felt pressured by the City to comply with the new code. I could perform the work myself, but it would still require my time and money. Soooo....Thankfully, I contacted Ohio State Waterproofing in hopes that the yearly insurance fee we provide would cover the work needed to bring me back up to code. Sure enough, it does. In addition to the great customer service representatives that I spoke to (Stacy, Kim, and others), Ohio State Waterproofing was happy to assist. They were courteous, knowledgeable, professional and empathetic to my situation. No hassles! Plus, they actually "listened" to what I had to say before providing a resolution. I appreciate that - It can be especially frustrating when you contact a company to resolve an issue and they immediately become defensive. One of the Ohio State Waterproofing foremen has already been to my property to examine what work will need to be done (materials needed, tools, manpower, etc.). A work order has been scheduled. Fairly easy and painless process due to the exceptional customer service I received. I expect that I will receive the same quality work and effort as what was put into the original waterproofing of the basement. Ohio State Waterproofing installed their 2-part system on the inside and outside of my house this past summer. I waited to review the business until the system was put to the test with several rainstorms. I'm very happy to say that even with days of rain at a time, there has been zero water leaking into my basement. The crew leader kept me informed at all times of what was happening around the house. I was constantly asked my opinion of what was happening. The crew members were respectful and personable. I did dock a star, however, because it was a very pricey investment and some of the work was rather sloppy. There was tar on the side of my house (which was removed by Ohio State Waterproofing at a later date), rocks throughout my brickwork, dirt that was not cleaned off of my basement floor, and cement drips in the middle of my basement floor. I didn't realize how pervasive dust and dirt would be when the basement floor was dug up- otherwise I would have asked for the plastic sheets over my possessions in the basement to be taped together or to the floor. Since the plastic was just draped over the items, dust thoroughly covered the items. I didn't mind the crew using my bathroom, but they should have put cardboard on the floor so it wasn't covered in mud by the end of every day. Coming home from a vacation, my husband noticed that the drainage pipe from the roof was disconnected from the storm drain, from the pipes separating when the soil settled. Ohio State did send workers out to add extra soil and fix the pipes, although it took a few weeks. Overall I would recommend Ohio State Waterproofing to anyone looking to waterproof his/her home. Yesterday your amazing and pleasant crew finished up the basement waterproofing job in our home. We are speechless -- from the initial consultation to the crew this week, we couldn't have asked for anything better. Everything was explained to us from beginning to end and all questions answered. Additionally, as with any job, there were some unexpected obstacles unique to our house and we were always consulted before any action was taken. These guys work HARD! They protected our home like their own and for such a dirty job, that is amazing! Yes, there will be some mess from this type of job, but their tarping and protection of floors and household items kept the dust to a minimum which we were very surprised by. We were also impressed with how they were able to work around our foundation plantings and the pond. The plantings are not guaranteed by OSW to survive and if not, we are responsible for replacing them. However, they did everything they could do to ensure they were protected as well as possible during this job. If we lose some well, we lose some, but in return are on our way to a dry basement that is finished and we use as nice, extra living space -- now we can use it even more and have peace of mind! Every day the worksite was left tidy and we are in awe this amount of work inside and out was turned around in five days. It remains to be seen that all the work holds as we were reassured, but based on our experience we feel it will and, if not, OSW will stand by their work and the warranty. Overall, we had a good experience with Ohio State Waterproofing. Our salesman, Ben, was friendly and informative. He took us through the basement and around the house to describe the process of what would need to be done. He then sat with us to further explain our options and answer any questions that we had. On the day of construction, Larry, the foreman, and I walked through the basement and he described what his crew would be doing that day. He was very friendly and was considerate of my young daughter who was home throughout the construction, as were each of the workers that I spoke to during the day. At the end of the day Larry took me back through the basement and around the house to show me the work that had been done and what they would be doing the next day. He also left his phone number so that my husband could call him later that night if he had any questions since he was not home during the day, we both appreciated this very much. The workers did remove the door to the basement and the door coming in the house from the garage. This was not a big deal, as I'm sure it makes the job a lot easier and they were put back up at the end of the day; however I didn't know they were off until I came downstairs and we have two cats that could have gotten into everything in the basement or could have gone outside. I was able to get the cats and close them into a room upstairs, but it may be helpful if the crew asked about pets beforehand. The second day went as smoothly as the first. Mike Berry and his crew were great! We had our waterproofing project done in the first week of January under 6 inches of snow, when the temperature never got above 29 degrees and it snowed almost every night after they left. They did not have ideal conditions, but they had great attitudes and did a fantastic job. The exterior of the house was a hard job due to the weather conditions but it was completed minus the sealants that can't be done under a certain temperature (they are coming back in the spring to complete this, which will only be about an hour's worth of work total and cost no additional money). I was shocked by how efficiently they were able to dig holes more than 6 feet deep and 4-8 feet in diameter in the frozen ground and bad weather. They left the exterior in great condition (clean, new window wells, new drainage systems) and stated they will come back in the spring if we are not satisfied with how any of the dirt settles once the ground thaws. The interior looks great. The crew went above and beyond every day as entrance to our basement is through our kitchen. They took out the floor covering/path they placed down to protect our floors EVERY DAY to give us full use of our kitchen after they left even though it meant a slower start to their day the next morning having to re-cover the floors to keep their muddy/snow covered boots from getting our house dirty and wet. This was very kind and thoughtful and we really appreciated the extra effort they put in to try to minimize the disruption to our lives. Overall the project took 4 days. They left our house very clean (much cleaner than I thought they were going to). We are very satisfied. read more

I chose Ohio State Waterproofing based on their longevity in the business. They completed the project in the amount of time promised. I was concerned about some of the laborers as they were not with the company for a long period of time, but they all did their work as directed by their foreman, Adonis. Adonis was very attentive to all of my questions and made sure they were fully answered. The crew paid special attention at the end of the day (as well as during) to leaving my yard as clean as possible (no debris left lying around). At one point, one of the crew noticed a piece of garbage lying on a dirt pile and he asked who it belonged to and the guy it belonged to apologized and removed it. As for the work itself, after a day, I'm already noticing a big improvement. The damp musty smell is all but gone and the mold seems to be retreating. I think a lot of this is due to the EZ-Breathe system they installed. I believe the ventilation was vital. The wall on which the work was performed had the potential for collapsing. OSW's StablWall system is the portion of the project I am most happy to have done. Over the years, the crack width was increasing, so in my opinion it was the most critical part of the work. I recently purchased my first flip. I knew about the mold when I purchased the house but I didn't really understand how serious my mold issue was until Sean came out for my first consultation. He took his time explaining everything to me and answered all of my questions. I told him I was still weary due to the cost and it only being a flip. He left that day and discussed my situation with his boss. Later on, Bob came out to see what else could be done. Between the both of them coming out, I knew I was in good hands and that it needed to be done. I couldn't do a quick fix and hire mold specialists to clean it up knowing that it would be a waste of money and the mold would return. They ended up starting a week and a half before my scheduled waterproofing date and finished in two days. They finished yesterday so it's too soon to notice a difference, especially because the previous owners also smoked in the house so it still wreaks of cigarettes, but moral of the story is, so far I am satisfied with the work Ohio State Waterproofing did and I plan to use them again on future flips knowing that they will take care of me! A few years after I bought my house, I started getting streams of water coming in through the walls of my basement ( usually after a heavy or continuous rain). I got estimates from several companies but put off getting the work done due to the expense. In 2013 I was finally in a position to get the work done and I again got several estimates. I chose Ohio State Waterproofing because of their professionalism and the curtesy they showed me. The sales team was prompt and the inspection was thorough. They fully explained the process and equipment to be installed. When the work crew came to do the work a few weeks later they were also very professional and polite. They also explained what they were doing and why. The initial work took about a week to complete and then they returned when the concrete set and finished any small cracks. In the spring they returned again to finish the landscaping outside just like they promised. I have only had one issue in the last three years and that was when the alarm on the pump went off for no apparent reason. I called the company and they sent out a service person promptly and he replace a part on the pump. NO HASSLE!! Hmmmm...Where shall I begin: I'm writing this in hopes of saving another from the stress and aggravation I went thru. Part #1: (Aug. 2017). My father calls OSW and asks for a free inspection and quote. The salesman arrives and my folks are questioned if they are the homeowners. I call OSW and say I give my parents permission to answer any questions on my behalf, as they live with me and the basement is their turf. They were not impressed with the Salesman and the quote he gave them was $TWENTY-EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS! Really? They say NO WAY. They receive a call the next day asking if we have questions and if we'd like to schedule and sign a contract. My parents tell the person on the phone, No. the price is high and the salesman acted like he was being inconvenienced by having to answer questions. They call again saying we'd like to get a Manager out there and meet with your daughter, the Homeowner. My experience with Ohio State Waterproofing I will, with great pleasure, rate as a 5-star. From the moment that the crew arrived they took great care and concern for the restoration of my basement. Also, the professionalism and knowledge displayed by all of them was outstanding. They began by digging a trench all the way around the circumference of my basement in which they laid corrugated drain pipe that connected to a pressure-relief pump installed in the corner of the basement. After they filled in and repaved the trench it was perfect with the relief pump being the only thing visible perfectly installed in the corner and ready to go. Next, they installed a durashield wall covering half way up the wall all the way around the basement, and mortared all of the cracks and holes in the brick on the inside and outside of the wall. After they were all finished, in any rain that my home has endured since, not a drop of water has gotten into the basement, not a drop! I'm absolutely thrilled. Ronald W. T. Super Storm Sandy paid us a visit that fateful night in November, 2012. After living in our home for 52 years and never having experienced a drop of wetness in our basement, we were suddenly flooded. My husband and I still remain very pleased with the investment we made in our home by selecting Ohio State Waterproofing to waterproof our basement in 1995. It has added an extension to our home which has allowed us to enjoy family and friends for the holidays or just to relax and enjoy music or movies. Our first big event after getting our basement waterproofed was our daughter's Sweet Sixteen Birthday Party which she nor we have ever forgotten. Gone is the dank and mildew smells we had before. In addition, we now have peace of mind during heavy rains and storms as we hear the installed sump pump doing its job! We especially liked the white waterproof "paneling" that was hung up on the walls before the job was finished that truly added to the look of the job for the basement -- no other company offered anything similar to this which really enhanced their work for us.
