Love, love, LOVE this Ohio Thrift location. Taking a look at past reviews, I see the bulk of the complaints being due to the lack of dressing rooms. I am happy to say- they now have dressing rooms! For me, I had always visited Goodwills and done the majority of my thrifting throughout Goodwill locations, but had always heard good things about what Ohio Thrift had to offer so I started checking them out. This location is by far one of my favorites for a number of reasons. The prices cannot be beat! I managed to sort through the LARGE selection of clothing they have (seriously, they have A LOT of options here- the store is HUGE) and walk out with 5 sweatshirts for under $20. The store is well kept, not exceptionally dirty by any means. The staff is AWESOME, very helpful, kind and social. The only complaint I would even consider making would be about the occasional disorganization of the clothes among sizes. For the most part, everything is in its respectful spot, but every once in a while you'll find half a section of large sizes mixed in with the mediums, though I understand this can be difficult to fix. Overall, LOVED my experience here. Not only is there a massive selection of clothes, but also of home goods, crafts and furniture. The furniture is in mint condition, but a bit outside of the thrift store price tag range. read more

This *used to be* one of my favorite thrift stores in Columbus. Over the last few months it has become the junkiest and most over-priced thrift store I've been in. I likely won't be back. Anything that is in even remotely decent condition is marked with a white tag, making it ineligible for weekly discounts, and it's not unusual to see things on the shelves marked well above their *retail* price when they were brand new. Lots of over-priced items, but I'm not even sure how they can put them out with a straight face. See attached photo of the small drawstring "laundry bag", similar in quality to those sold at Dollar Tree for a buck, marked at $2.99; ineligible for weekly discounts. read more

Today was the first time I've been into this store at its new location on West Broad St. (it moved in 2010 or 2011; I can't remember). The old location was really nice, but wow! I walked away empty-handed this time, but I saw a lot of things that made my day. The store relocated to the old Toys R Us building, where Kids R Us, Hobby Lobby and Media Play once were. With all the extra space, Ohio Thrift was able to bring in more merchandise and spread it out pretty well. I really liked their larger furniture section. It wasn't as cramped and cluttered, and I was able to look at the living room sets without bruising my knees (I have this nasty habit of letting my knees find things and forgetting about it til the bruises appear a week later). I do have concerns about buying used furniture (Central Ohio does have a nasty bedbug problem), but I feel good about possibly buying some furniture here before I move. Ohio Thrift organizes clothing better than the other thrift chains in Columbus, and the relocation hasn't hurt them at all. In fact, I think it's actually helped them be more organized, if that's possible. Just looking around today (I wasn't looking for anything in particular), I was pleased to see that things were neatly set up on racks and shelves instead of being tossed about haphazardly. It was really nice. As far as prices go, everything is cheap, but everything you're getting is in good shape and works. Some of the clothes you find have never even been worn. Other things, like furniture, are going to be on the expensive side. Just be aware of prices elsewhere if you're looking for furniture before you buy. Love the store itself- I always find great items but some of the staff are pretty rude. I was unaware that hours had changed due to covid, and had one of the older women who worked there approached me and said "you need to take your cart up front and get out of here, we are closing soon". Had she approached me and just said "We changed our hours due to the pandemic" it would have been fine. Instead she harassed me. I have back problems from an injury so I was limping- after working all day it aches- and she followed me and told me to hurry up. Another woman was staring at me and yelled "we are closing!" From the back office/part of the store. I understand it is frustrating when you are trying to close and people are still shopping- but you can prevent this by hanging up signs with the correct hours of operation. I was walking from the back of the store where the electronics/luggage is- to the front. They don't have any signs that list the new hours so I always see people trying to come in at the new "closing time", because they think they have another hour. Great items but customer service sucks. I would also suggest making customer service easier to reach- I was going to call and try to talk to someone about this issue, but no one would provide me a phone number, an email, or anything. read more

The store itself is great. I docked them two stars because they are not sanitizing anything that I can see. People were permitted to walk around the store without masks and used carts were just returned (not cleaned!) to the rack to be used again. If you shop here, I'd bring your own cleaning supplies! read more

I did not know this store existed, and I so happy I found it! Awesome! Very clean and organized. Friendly staff who checked up on me at just the right times. I found lots of sweaters that I liked. Even though all of the items are individually priced, the prices were reasonable and easily understandable (based obviously on brand and style). Got a few items on sale based on the color of the tag too. Thrilled with this store! read more

The biggest negative about this store was that there are NO FITTING ROOMS!!! The clothing selection left a bit to be desired. Large selection, but a lot of what could be deemed "old lady clothes." However, in addition to the used apparel, there was a good selection of new clothing, mostly including basics items like solid color tanks and t-shirts. This location also had new furniture and household items. However, because there was no fitting room, my friend and I didn't purchase many of the things we had originally picked up. Wear spandex pants and a tank top if you want to try on clothing items in the aisles. There are many mirrors, but no privacy. read more

Huge!! A fantastic assortment of clothing. I was in search of another pair of mesh shorts for around the house. Headed straight for the men's active wear section - right up front, yay! Clothing items were divided and separated - awesome! And, of course, sizing: Being able to rather quickly find my general area to start my roaming makes any clothes shopping experience even better for yours truly. A nice array of dresses and suites. They even had several in the larger sizes. Purses were stocked. Not too bad on the shoes, either. Oh yah, and the selection of furniture: Good quality! Prices have been reduced. I think I may have made a mistake passing up the opportunity to snag that love seat... The check-out process was quick. A young gentleman's lane was open, so we got right in. He was rather dull and to the point. Not rude, per say. Just, maybe, he was ready for his shift to be over. I won't hold it against my review, though. Just wasn't his day... I'll definitely be back! This store is HUGE. It is very well organized and kept up better than some Marshall's or TJMax around town. I went in here because I can't seem to keep track of a pair of gloves and a friend told me they often have new accessories here for less than a few bucks. After I got over the shock of the size of the place I decided on a hat, scarf, and mittens combo for only 5 bucks. The set was brand new and they had a bunch of them..must have been some sort of close out. I fought the urge to dig around a bit more which wasn't hard because it kind of takes the fun out it when the clothes are organized by color. Although if you are in need of a red top or something you get a feel for the inventory mighty fast. read more

I love this Ohio Thrift! I have never left here empty handed. They usually have a good home decor selection and the clothing selection is massive! As far as thrift stores go it's organized and the staff is pretty friendly. The furniture selection is very small but standard for an Ohio Thrift. Bring patience and energy because there is a lot of ground to cover and if you're not pumped and ready you can be a little overwhelmed. read more

Sometimes it's still exciting to shop here, but lately I've found, when times are bad, the pickings are a lot thiner here as well. Mostly I hit up three ares when I visit here: a.) a brief visit to the toys to look for something for our three year old b.) the t-shirt aisle to see if any rock t-shirts have come in (sometimes I've found pretty amazing finds for 99 cents here) and, lastly, the VINYL records section in the back (slong with the CDs,, 8 tracks and 45s). It's always hit or miss, but lately it's been mostly miss. It depends a lot on what gets contributed. I donated six boxes of bad easy listening records a year ago and I'm still seeing some of those in there. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, there will be something odd like the batch of German import pop records that were there last year. When times were better, the finds here certainly were, but that doesn't stop me from checking in every few weeks just to see if some fluke has brought in a new batch of stuff. read more

I will no longer Shop at the Ohio Thrift Stores. Since January 2013 they have tripled their prices. They are no longer a *THRIFT STORE* but instead a retail store. I have made my complaints known, and even the workers say they have had a lot of complaints, but that management made the decision. Have upset me to the point that I think there should be a picket. They receive the items for FREE!!! They no longer have colored tags for discounts on anything but clothing. They are a horrible place to do business. And can anyone tell me what charities they support? I can, their pockets! They are so blatantly frauds that they don't even bother hanging signs with that information on it in any of their stores! Do NOT donate to this chain, and by they way is growing exponentially. Donate to Salvation Army as 85% of every dollar go to fund their programs. Volunteers of America has fair prices also (though they have risen lately as well) and they support helping people with jobs, housing, and education. No I do not work for them, and never have for any Thrift Store. I am a shopper out for the deals to save on items I could purchase new elsewhere. I am not from Columbus. I was driving through and got off 70 to have a break. I wound up at "Central Point". Went to McDonalds, then sat in the lot to eat. Noticed the Ohio Thrift Store. It was rainy and cold. That store looked nice, clean, no loitering, so went in to exercise a little and get warm. Wandered around, looking at things. The staff were super. Close to closing time yet took time to tell me about donations, cleaning of items, where to find things, what colors were on sale. I wound up with several items, spent less than $10.00. Young man at checkout was really special. He smiled and laughed, used extra sacks to wrap someone's glass items; talked to me like I was an old friend....I was impressed. He didn't know I was from out of town. He treated everyone that way. What a nice experience. For those wanting fitting rooms, get a little round retractable 36 in tape measure for your purse. Know your waist, bust, inseam measurements, length from armpit and nape of neck to wherever you want a top to end. Pants and skirts can be hemmed without a lot of work when you get them home. Columbus, you are fortunate to have this business in your midst. read more
