This is where Donna (don't know her last name) in scheduling was so very helpful. When I called back a week after scheduling the appt to see if we could be put on a waitlist for a sooner appt, Donna asked if she could call me back and when she did a few min later she told me she was able to move the appt from 1/9/25 to 10/23/24 -- 2 1/2 mos earlier! I will be forever grateful to Donna for her advice, understanding, kindness and compassion.

I needed to see a new neurologist and "Dr. A." (as he is…read moreknown), Mourad Abdelmessih MD., at 1916 Tamarack Rd. in Newark, OH was suggested to me by another Yelper, my daughter. Admittedly, I was hesitant to make the drive all the way to Newark. Since I was unfamiliar with Newark, however Yelp provided clear directions to get there by traveling out Dublin-Granville Rd. (Rte. 161) from Columbus. It was encouraging to see that the parking lot had ample provisions for handicapped parking adjacent to the front entrance, where I could easily navigate with my walker. Since I'd already filled out most of the necessary paperwork sent to me, my check-in time was greatly reduced. I had been told earlier that I would feel at ease with Dr. A., and welcome his friendly personality and professional thoroughness in dealing with me as a prospective patient. As I looked around the simple waiting room, I saw the typical magazine rack with contemporary albeit up-to-date reading material, a water fountain with hot and cold water, and unusual wallpaper along the entire wall, that pulled me into the picture that depicted a beautiful relaxing garden setting. From the time of my arrival at Mid-Ohio Neurology, when my wife and I met the receptionist, Heather, at the front window, she was able to allay my anxiety about seing a new Neurologist and my concern that this might mean I would be "starting all over again" after several years with my former doctor. As my wife and I sat in the waiting room, only a few minutes later, my name was called to step onto the Truck Scale and get weighed before following her again to a patient room. I'm certain that Kristy sensed my anxiety when she took my blood pressure. Normally my BP is actually low, but my anxiety, and trepidation about seeing a new Neurologist resulted in a higher reading. She attempted to calm me by asking me about the issues I was having that brought me to see Dr. Abdelmessih. She then commented that I would like "Dr. A." just as my daughter, who set up my appointment, told me, "I would really "love" Dr, A. Then, Kristy told me he would be in shortly, left the room and closed the door. After that happened, my anxiety and tremors jumped into high gear. My wife tried to help me calm me. It's pretty obvious to my wife that I get anxious and my tremors increase when meeting a new doctor about my Parkinson's. Well, that's why I'm here! I would have been willing to wait 30 mins. or longer for the doctor to come in, but it was only a minute or so before he walked in. Mispronouncing his name, he laughed, which helped put me more at ease, yet I quickly asked if I could call him Dr. A. He told me, "Of course you can and probably should after butchering his name the way I had." Again, I relaxed a little more. Then he proceeded to talk to me about my issues, about my life, and then conducted more tests within my examination. By this time, I was putty in his very capable hands. We discussed meds I was taking and asked if my wife and I thought they were working. He seemed to have all the time in the world to conduct his examination and talk to us. This was just what I needed. By the end of his examination, nearly an hour long, he provided his diagnosis, his medical plan of action and prognosis. My wife and I were very relieved, yet surprised that he didn't look at things that had already been done, but instead started with a clean slate. Wow! That's just what we hoped would happen. He told us how he was planning to wean me from medications that were not working as they should and introduce me to prescription for a new medicine that I'd never tried before. Then, he said he wanted to see me again in one month, rather than the typical four-month followup I was used to. Before leaving he asked us if we had any other questions and said if I had any problems, be sure to call me. I thanked him and as we were making my next appointment with Heather, Alexis, another M.A. talked to us and gave me a 30 day supply of samples of the new medicine. Alexis told us, that Dr. A. didn't want me to pay for a medicine that I was uncertain whether it would work or not. On the way back to our car, my wife and I looked at each and said, "I like this guy!" If you are looking for a Neurologist who will take the time to investigate your issues, treat you as someone who is working with your doctor in the same team, and demonstrate professional attention to your personal Neurological issues; Diabetic Neuropathy, M.S., memory loss, migraines, Fibromyalgia, Parkinson's Disease, or another Neuroligical disorder, Dr. A. at Mid-Ohio Neurology is the man to see.

Unfortunately I have a serious, rare migraine condition, as well as another neurological condition…read morethat has taken me on a long journey throughout which the Neurologists, Physicians' Assistants, Nurses and other staff at Columbus Neurology and Neurosurgery, aka OhioHealth Neurological Physicians, have accompanied me the whole way. Dr. William Carroll is my neurologist and I would definitely give him five stars. I love this man. He has saved my life and given me back a quality of life I had given up on ever having again. When other doctors had accused me for years of faking, of drug seeking and of just malingering, Dr. Carroll never gave up until we had a diagnosis. After that, he has refused to give up until we had the right regimen of medications and lifestyle changes to give me my life back. He has a very dry sense of humor and is very soft spoken so if you aren't paying attention you may miss what he says or take him the wrong way, but he truly seems to care. I feel like Drs Simensky, Novak, Bruns and Klatte are of the same cloth. I have had to be admitted quite a bit and when these doctors are on call, they all have awesome bedside manner and make sure I get what I need to get back under control and back home as soon as possible, while making sure all my questions are answered well. Dr. Novak has also done all of my EMGs and he is very patient with the fact that I ask a lot of questions. He is also very gentle. The nurses and office staff have always been awesome at helping me with any messages I've needed to leave, getting prescription refills and all the ridiculous paperwork my previous employer required as well as the recent paperwork I needed for my current employer. Abby and Ashley at the front desk are the best and have even helped me out with things I have needed for my own patients at work. Travis, Dr. Carroll's newest nurse, is very prompt and quickly returns my calls and answers emails and messages, making sure to keep me informed of the progress he's making whether it be a refill, paperwork or a referral. The only complaint I have had is that Dr. Nayak is very unpleasant and rude. She's the only reason I couldn't bring myself to give 5 stars. Her answer to everything is that I am fat. That is exactly how she puts it too and she's not exactly svelte herself. She's very impatient. I have always been told to utilize the answering service to contact the on call physician due to the nature of some of the things going on with me and because I am at increased risk for stroke, but if Dr,. Nayak is on call, she very rarely will return my call and if she does it is several hours later. She has made it very clear to me from our very first meeting that she feels like I am a huge waste of her time. I have spoken to other people who have had similar experiences with her and when I have been in the hospital a lot of times the nurses on the floor said they didn't like dealing with her either. If I needed something that required calling the MD while she was on duty, there were a couple on instances where nurses would wait until she was gone and another doctor was on call to take care of it, even if it meant leaving me suffering. I often recommend this office to my patients who are looking for a neurologist or neurosurgeon. They even have physicians who do neuropsychology as well as pain management doctors. Tip: You can access Rhodes from Ross but its quicker to get off at level one and walk outside. I was going to Rhodes. Check in is easy. Turn right at the info booth and you will see the registration room. They will log you in and then walk you to your next floor or department for your procedure. You kind of feel like you have your own tour guide. Waiting rooms were clean. They had reclining seats in some of them. The secretary at endoscopy was not at her station for five minutes and people who came in after me then got checked in before me Found that irritating. Plus they just left my stickers on her desk... for all to see. pretty sure that is a HIPPA violation. I didnt like my stickers abandoned on an empty desk. The person scheduled in front of me was late so I got a room 45 min early! Yay me. Tip: always get to these appt times promptly or early.... That person is going to be sad they were late. Staff was great. I need filtered IVs due to a heart condition and that was available and checked on by both anesthesia and my surgeon/doctor. Felt my heart safety was very well cared for. Procedure was explained thoroughly. Dr Hooper was personable, and answered any questions I had thoroughly without rushing or making me feel silly for having questions. Procedure went smoothly. Seems cancer free, thats a good thing. Now just waiting on stomach biopsies. If you ever need a thorough, competent and kind doctor to determine if you have ulcers/stomach cancer... I highly recommend Alexander Hooper at OSU.

I went back to the front desk to plead for my wife. The male nurse at the desk told me that's the way it is and I could go somewhere else. Didn't like his answer, so I found another triage nurse. She seem a little more understanding and said they would send a nurse into the waiting room to look at my wife's foot. Never came in. The absolute worst ER I have ever been to. I never thought to look at yelp for reviews. I came here , while sitting in the ER. For 8 hours. Also watched a number of tweekers and people with sniffles go back before we did. My wife has been coming to OSU for the last 2 years. She has CHF and kidney disease. We have not yet taken advantage of the yoga classes available at Whole Kids but I hope to this fall - love that they offer these! We drive WAY across town (live on the northeast side - drive to the southwest side) for the sole purpose of having Dr. Sant as our pediatrician. We've never once regretted our decision to seek out Dr. Sant for our daughter's care. I do not know what kind of chip the prior reviewer had on her shoulder, but that experience is NOT at all close to what I've experienced with Dr. Sant and her staff over the past three years. Dr. Sant's staff has been great to work with, helpful with forms we've needed filled out for daycare, and quick to help with appointments and such.

Dr. Sant, the founder and chief physician of the practice, is a very nice woman with a calm demeanor, but that alone cannot justify the administrative incompetence and failures of this practice as a whole. For 6 weeks we had been trying to retrieve a copy of our child's medical records and immunization schedule from the staff there. Numerous phone calls later, they had the audacity to tell us that they didn't "think" they could send the records directly to us. Um. Do you not know what HIPAA is? Doctors at our new pediatrics practice told us today that the records kept by Wholekids were incomplete, unprofessional and inconsistent. They told us to advise our friends to move their children from that practice, given what they saw in our child's medical record. Other details: -As a general rule, staff/receptionists do not return phone calls or messages. -Email and fax access to people on staff is nonexistent. -Getting a live person on the phone is nearly impossible -No weekend hours, no vacation backup -Some of the nursing staff are very unprofessional (screaming fit because there is a spider on the wall) -"Salesy" kind of atmosphere, trying to get you to buy expensive herbal and dietary supplements. Any benefit gained by being a slightly "less traditional" pediatric practice disappeared as every time my child saw Dr. Sant she ended up with an antibiotic prescription anyway.
