Dr mark Gittins (ortho Neuro) did a partial knee surgery a year and a month ago, and I already have to have it redone, because he did not get it correct and he over stuffed the joint, now I have to have a full knee replacement. Even though he said the joint was fine, but I could not walk correctly without pain, Do not go to this doctor. He does not care, he does quantity not quality. read more

As I sit here on another Sunday afternoon trying to keep my blood pressure down and psych myself up for the week ahead, because I know the pain I will be in. This situation which now is affecting my mental health started a month ago. During a January snowstorm I drove myself to the Diley Ridge emergency with leg and knee pain. During the visit I was given an ultrasound to look for a blood clot. I was given a shot of Lovanox and schedule an appointment with Mt. Carmel East for another ultrasound the next day. I drove to the hospital the next day during a level three emergency to be told I do not have a blood clot. I was still in pain but no one bothered to ask or consider another option. I was dismissed and went home. A week later I am at the Diley Ridge emergency hospital again with more intense knee pain, they even recognize that I was just there. This time I get an x-ray which shows I have some arthritis, I'm sent home with a script for ibuprofen, a leg stabilizer, and told to follow up with my PCP. All the while I'm icing and trying to figure out how to manage the pain and continue to work on my feet all day. My PCP sent a script for Meloxicam to help with inflammation and pain. I tried the medicine for a few days but even with food it made me vomit. My PCP sent a referral to OrthoNeuro and I waited for a call, which I never received. I finally called them on a Monday and was able to get an appointment that same Wednesday. I am very familiar with OrthoNeuro as I had three carpal tunnel release surgeries the previous year. For my knee pain I was scheduled with Mark Gittins. In my roughly ten minute consultation he told me to get rid of the stabilizing brace (I should be letting my knee do what it's supposed to do, use over the counter Voltaren for the arthritis and sent a referral for an MRI. Nothing was addressed about my actual knee pain. After about another week I am in so much pain I find myself at Mt. Carmel East emergency room, actually in hysterical tears because the pain continues with no relief. This time I'm given a shot in the rear for inflammation and sent a script for OxyCodone and ibuprofen. While in the ER I requested an MRI since one has not been scheduled for me yet. I was told no. I had to take off work the next day due to continued pain. I did receive a call finally to schedule an MRI. I was told my insurance requires a ten day period to get an MRI approved. At that time I was scheduled for an MRI March 3rd, 2026, which was still three weeks away. I sent a note explaining my situation and miraculously the next day I was called with an approval and scheduled an MRI the next day. Finally I thought I would get some relief. I had my MRI the next day at 7:30am immediately after the MRI I called and left a message with Dr. Gittins voicemail around 8am. In the meantime the results of my MRI are posted to MyChart. I did not receive a call, I left a message the next day, I did not receive a call. Friday came and went, no call. Which brings me to today, my pain continues as my anxiety rises because I have to work and I know what the pain feels like at the end of my shift and it makes me sick to my stomach. As I sit here and try not to be sarcastic about any of this I wonder when someone will decide to call me and help. Unfortunately I have no other option except to be seen at OrthoNeuro due to my insurance. I already have little faith in this institution due to my carpal tunnel release surgeries (I will not get into that situation as this letter has already taken up so much of my time). At this point I have no other option but to write this review because I am in need of some help and relief. read more

I liked my Doctor although you are pushed through the office visit like you are in a factory. The doctor said he was going to prescribe this medication but they never sent it to my pharmacy. I spend the next week trying to contact them (and bugging my pharmacy to look every day) Good luck trying to call the doctors "secretary" because they do not respond to your messages in the portal nor return voice mails. read more

When my husband went to ask to see if maybe we weren't on the list the lady yelled through the window in front of all the other patients that we were not on time for our appointment. We drive 2 hours so yes we were early as not to waste their time. Another lady sat down 5 minutes and got right in. We waited 50 minutes after our appointment time. read more

So far not good. They were to call the day before surgery and tell what time. A packet in the mail said 24 of June. We had confirmed that with the doctor. They did not call and when I called to ask no one could verify and one guy said it was the 26. No one ever contacted us to change that date. My daughter took off work. My experience at OrthoNeuro was so dismal that it prompted me to seek a second opinion at OSU, and I'm so grateful that I did. After waiting almost 45 minutes in the room at OrthoNeuro, the surgeon came in (no introduction) and just gruffly asked "so how did you do it?" while looking at my chart and not at me. He gave me a "40% chance that the ankle break will ever heal correctly" and then gave me the choice of treating my ankle break non operatively or getting corrective surgery immediately. He made the case that if I did not have the surgery, I was looking at a lifetime of ankle pain and potentially arthritis, "but it's your choice, I don't have a preference". Out of fear, I booked the surgery until I was able to obtain a second opinion. His secretary acted as if I were a huge inconvenience to her personally, and I was always anxious to call because she was so unpleasant. I'm so thankful that I listened to my intuition to go to OSU for another opinion. The doctor at OSU did not see any evidence that the ankle was unstable or needed to be realigned. The test they used to determine ankle stability was more accurate at OSU, and therefore changed the entire trajectory of my care. AVOID OrthoNeuro if you can!!! I would recommend Dr. Timmothy Miller at OSU. He was kind, informative, and available to answer all of my questions. The entire staff at OSU was top notch, and I felt like a valued and respected patient and not a customer (like I did at OrthoNeuro). Perhaps the worst encounter with a health facility i have ever had. No one even looked at paperwork i filled out. Doctor did a fly by visit. Prescribed a medication to reduce inflammation in the knee, but never asked or reviewed my other medications for possible adverse interactions. Doctors do not answer messages. Had injections in both knees which made the pain worse, i could not get in touch with doctor to find out why and what i should do about it. No on introduced themselves by name or positions, hi i am ----- and i am a janitor. read more

Dr.G shouldn't be practicing medicine and I unfortunately was a victim of his negligence and malpractice, on my 1st visit he touched the area of my break briefly and said "you'll be fine in 10 days." I had a follow up appointment and he never touched or examined the broken area closer to my toes, instead he said "I'll have someone come in and fit you for a ankle brace." I later learned Dr.G wrote in my file that I broke my calcaneus (the heel bone) which is completely incorrect and roughly 8 inches from the break, his staff in a panic was looking over my X-rays to find the problem and get me the correct treatment. I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN!!!!! I'm still limping and have a break in my foot and my file and interactions with his staff is a very clear malpractice. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Keith Ladu. I have had hip replacement surgery and have some other issues that needed to be taken into consideration when then surgery was completed. The care I have received is nothing short of wonderful. My only negative would be...the office doesn't feel considerate of my time. Most of my appointments start 30-45 min after the scheduled time. This is a big turn off for me as I work and have a family that I have to schedule my time around. Never go here, especially to Dr. Chaney. Worst experience ever. Was told they would contact my insurance to get approval for an mri and didn't hear from them for 3 weeks. Every time I called, I got sent to voicemail and they never called me back. Went straight to insurance and heard that they never submitted a request at all, so I went with a different doctor. Turns out, insurance won't approve the MRI because they ended up submitting a request WEEKS LATE and I can't have two requests at a time. Neither my insurance or myself can get ahold of Dr. Chaney or his secretary to get the request cancelled, we keep getting sent to voicemail. Dr. Chaney was also not helpful during my appointment at all; didn't even get me a prescription for physical therapy for my ankle. I haven't walked for six weeks thanks to him, and I live on a college campus where walking is a necessity. read more

When we arrived there were lots of people in the waiting room so I was worried we would have to wait awhile for our appointment. But my husband was called back right on time. The staff was very friendly and skilled. My husband had to have a gel shot in each knee. The person who did the shot explained everything before hand and answered all our questions. This is for Dr Mark Gitten who did a knee replacement in July 2021. I find that Dr Mark was a very nice and thorough Dr. There are two Dr Gittens there so when I say Dr Mark that is why. Though the knee replacement was very painful, I could call the facility and get answers for any questions I had. Took about a month for the pain to subside. I truly believe I definitely picked the right surgeon for my surgery. He has wonderful dr-patient manners. Always got back to me with any questions that I had. I do believe he was a wonderful doctor and if I have or need anything else down in this field I would definitely see him first. I also have worked with most of the physical therapists in the New Albany location and found all of them knowledgeable and caring. I called to pay a bill for a particular doctor ($103.73) and the person accepting my payment applied it to a different doctor. It is said that calls are recorded, but I am wondering where the transcript is for my call that day? I have called the billing supervisor Theresa several times and she has yet to return my calls. I was also told that I had a credit on my account only to be told that I don't have a credit on my account. My bill was for $123.71 so why would I pay $103.73? That should have been a red flag for the operator then as she clearly was not listening when I gave the account number. I just want clarity on my bill but I am not getting it. ***Update I now have two doctors that are at he group Ortho Neuro. Dr. Napolitano and Dr. Taylor. While they are both good doctors, the billing processes are still not good. I have left the practice. It does not make sense that I pay for a service that ultimately my insurance covered at 100% but I have not seen my refund. Also noting that I never had to pay my entire deductible prior to receiving my Botox for migraines. They said someone should have called me the day before telling me this, however that never happened. While in the doctors office for my appointment, I find out that my deductible is due right then. They send the nurse practitioner Ashley to talk to me about this but it does not matter. I wasted time coming in and later that day I received a "you missed your appointment email". I believe with practices like this the BBB should be involved. It's sad that I have to leave food providers due to a crooked billing system. The end. read more

Do not go here if you are at all taking social distancing seriously! I surprisingly got a same day appointment for severe back pain. Once a I got there I realized why. They were packing patients in. This place was packed. While they had the appropriate social distancing signs posted, they were not following the procedures at all. People were packed in the waiting room walking right next to one another and sitting only about 3 feet apart. There was no other choice, there were so many people there. When taken back to the exam room, the halls were crowded with patients and nurses. When leaving my exam room I had to go down a hallway that was about 6 feet wide which had 5 nurses standing around talking, 3 on one side and 2 on the other. I asked my nurses If we could go a different way because I wasn't comfortable walking through the crowd and she said it would take too long. She then asked the nurses to move because "she doesn't want to walk through you " They then stepped aside (kinda) and proceeded to talk about me when they thought I was out of ear shot. I asked to speak to the office manager about my concerns. She took me into her office, and without replaying the very limited conversation, let's just say she wasn't helpful and didn't really care about my concerns. It felt to me that OrthoNeuro was way more concerned with making money than insuring the safety of their patients. read more

I went in for extreme foot pain and numbness in both feet. Was told it was restless leg syndrome and given meds for it. When this still made no difference I was sent for a nerve test. It was normal. I was again told RLS and neuropathy, didn't matter what the nerve test said, and basically to deal with it, there were no more tests or anything that could be done. Fast forward, I see a back spec who orders an MRI. The disc in my lower back is about gone and pushing on my nerve....causing my feet pain. Surgery to come. If this dr's office had listened to me I could have had answers months ago. But instead I've been living in constant pain because they pushed me off. Beware! They don't listen and just push needless meds!! read more

They recommended an extreme surgery for my foot and ankle. Luckily I sought a second opinion from another doctor recommended by friends in the medical field who suggested a much less evasive surgery. When I told him after his diagnosis what Orthoneuro wanted to do, he was not surprised and said they are known for being "surgery happy" there. Also, shady billing practices and when you ask for an explanation they will jump you through hoops for months through their various departments. They never fixed my problem. Here I sit years later with the same orthopedic problem. And I do not feel they did enough to discover what the problem is, especially since they know I am Ehlers Danlos patient with multiple instances of torn tendons. Their standard answer to everything is shots, arthroscopic surgery and replacement and I did two of those and neither helped. The problem is swelling behind my joint and 3 to 4 inches above it - not in the joint where they kept working without success. read more

I saw Dr. Jeff Gittins for a hip injury here. He was personable and thorough, and offered me multiple treatment options. I chose the steroid injection, and when I informed him that I am not bothered by needles but hate surprises, he was very detailed in explaining everything he was doing before he did it. Very good especially since I couldn't see anything he was doing! He knows his stuff, and has a good bedside manner to boot. Office staff and nurses/assistants are also very nice. I have a feeling I'll be seeing a lot of this place as I'm a runner, so I'm glad to have found them! read more

I called OrthoNuero to schedule an appointment with Dr. Taylor. While on the phone with the scheduler, I asked very specifically if Dr. Taylor performed ablation therapy for my PHN. The scheduler assured me he did, so I scheduled my appointment and waited the two months to see him. Five minutes into my visit with Dr. Taylor, he informs me that he does NOT perform ablations, and that he would have to obtain a referral for me to see one of his associates. I was very disappointed that the scheduler was wrong, but decided to try his recommendations of a different form of Neurontin and steroids. I have suffered with PHN for well over 18 months and I was/am desperate for relief. I figured I would be waiting another one + months for the referral, so the medications might be helpful. They were not helpful, and actually resulted in an increase in pain and the steroids aggravated my reflux disease. As a side note:Dr. Taylor spent more time talking with his resident (who was conducting the exam) than he did with me. I was not impressed with his patient care skills. I decided after suffering through the steroids and getting my regular regimen of Neurontin back on schedule, that I would contact the practice, and ask for a reduction in my bill, since the scheduler was wrong, and what help I did receive was ineffective at best. I made multiple attempts to speak with the billing manager, and ter finally leaving a voicemail with the practice manager, she did call me. I explained my case and the billing manager directed me to write up my request and fax it to their office. She said that Dr. Taylor would review the letter and make a determination. I have now waited 3 months for any kind of response. What I did receive was the bill for the appointment for $176.36. I did make several attempts to again contact the billing manager, but she has yet to return my messages. I am paying the bill, but I will never set foot into that practice again, and I will share my experience every time I have a chance. read more

i am a patient of Dr. Gittens and I am not happy with OrthoNeuro. I was supposed to get a boot today but was told they had to Bill VA. I have ChampVa, not VA, which picks up what my other insurance doesn't pay. They were insistent that I had to get the boot at a VA facility and all I had to do was go pick it up when I left there. I called the VA and they didn't have me in their system because I do not have them and they also said if I had been in their system I couldn't have gotten it then because I would have had to make an appointment. It would have been a wild goose chase if I hadn't called first. Their billing department does not return calls either. The experience I had with them today was a nightmare. They finally decided I can get the boot tomorrow, after my daughter missed work today to take me, at another location but reminded me if the insurance doesn't pay then I will have to. Isn't that the way it is with all insurance? I regret going to this practice and need to get a second opinion. read more

Doctors are pleasant and informative. But DO NOT expect to be seen at the time of your appointment. Even if you turn up early, add another hour or so and maybe they'll call your name. Slow service is accompanied by an aggressive attitude from some of the receptionists. read more

I was referred to the Olentangy Ortho Neuro office in Columbus for some severe, ongoing pain I was experiencing. It took over a week to be scheduled for an appointment - even though I was willing to be seen at any loction. I was called on the day of my appointment and told I would need to come in at 1:15 instead of the 3:30 appointment time due to many cancellations, I was also told it would take no more than 30 minutes. No problem, I would just take a long lunch and return to work rather than leaving early. I arrived at the office at 1:10 with the many pages of paperwork I had completed ahead of time and my x-rays on a cd. I was given more paperwork and an I-pad to complete another questionnaire. I waited...and waited and waited some more. Finally after an hour of waiting, I asked the receptionist how much longer and what do you know, 5 minutes later, the nurse took me back to the room. She took my vitals and history (even though it was on the mountain of paperwork I supplied). She said the doctor would be with me shortly and he never showed. I waited another 15 minutes and then opened the exam room door. A few minutes after I opened the door, the nurse came in and told me the doctor would just be a few minutes longer and then started to close the door. I told her she can leave it open so I do not get forgotten, and she said they had to keep it closed. Magically, the doctor appeared. He didn't even examine me. I pulled out a paper I had written in addition to all the paperwork I submitted. The paper was a timeline of my pain for the last several months. (Pain had started as shingles in hip) The doctor sped me along like he was in a hurry and really didn't listen. He then said I think you have sciatica. Does your leg hurt? I said no, only my hip, he said well your leg should hurt if it is sciatica and I said my leg doesn't hurt. He said I will need an MRI before we do anything. He hadn't looked at my xrays or paperwork prior to coming in the exam room (he told me this). So after another week of waiting (in excruciating pain I might add) Ortho Neuro finally got around to submitting pre approval to my insurance for the MRI (I was told they only had one person to do this) My insurance promptly denied the MRI for lower back pain (Which wasn't what I was complaining of - like I said hip pain - shingles) Ortho Neuro told me the doctor would write a prescription for PT and I should find somewhere for this. I told her I had never had PT and could she recommend a place, she said no, just find somewhere near where you live. (I thought Ortho Neuro had a PT clinic!) I will never go back there. They were so completely uncaring and unprofessional. I would recommend anywhere but there. Incidentally, I am still in pain and all Ortho Neuro did was extend my time without any treatment by 2 more weeks. Thanks for nothing Ortho Neuro! read more

Herding cattle is about all I can say about OrthoNeuro. Be prepared to become your own advocate to force them to get things done. Beginning in Spetember I was seen for neck and shoulder injuries. Originally I was seen by the neurologist and after many sessions of PT my neck injury improved and was sent to see the shoulder specialist. Of course there was the interminable wait for the initial visit but things have only gotten worse. They've never followed up promptly with me on anything. You can never reach your doctor. His support staff never returns calls. After waiting 2 weeks to hear about just scheduling an MRI I eventually had to "remind" them that I was waiting for one. Can't blame the insurance company either as it only took ProScan Imaging 3 days to receive confirmation to proceed which tells me Dr. Nowinski's office never contacted the insurance company regarding my case. I've been going through this experience for 4 months now and here I sit 10 days after my MRI waiting once again for Dr. Nowinski's office to just call and tell me the results of the MRI. It was read the day of the procedure and I still can't get an answer. Now maybe the surgeons there are top notch but given my experience to date I'm seriously considering switching practices. My injuries and situation may not be important to them but it is to me and they just don't seem to care. read more
