We are so very lucky in Columbus to have a progressive, integrative, holistic pediatrician like Dr. Sant who does not simply medicate symptoms - rather, she looks at the whole child and brings the best of Eastern and Western medical and healing knowledge. She is breastfeeding friendly (something you would think ALL pediatricians would be, but not all are!), informed and relaxed about vaccines/delaying them, and has a wonderful way with her patients and their parents. We have not yet taken advantage of the yoga classes available at Whole Kids but I hope to this fall - love that they offer these! We drive WAY across town (live on the northeast side - drive to the southwest side) for the sole purpose of having Dr. Sant as our pediatrician. We've never once regretted our decision to seek out Dr. Sant for our daughter's care. I do not know what kind of chip the prior reviewer had on her shoulder, but that experience is NOT at all close to what I've experienced with Dr. Sant and her staff over the past three years. Dr. Sant's staff has been great to work with, helpful with forms we've needed filled out for daycare, and quick to help with appointments and such. read more

My husband and I took our first child to this practice as an infant, lured by the promise of a blend of eastern and western (allopathic) traditions. Their site and marketing is well-designed and slick along those lines. Then it all just breaks down from there. Dr. Sant, the founder and chief physician of the practice, is a very nice woman with a calm demeanor, but that alone cannot justify the administrative incompetence and failures of this practice as a whole. For 6 weeks we had been trying to retrieve a copy of our child's medical records and immunization schedule from the staff there. Numerous phone calls later, they had the audacity to tell us that they didn't "think" they could send the records directly to us. Um. Do you not know what HIPAA is? Doctors at our new pediatrics practice told us today that the records kept by Wholekids were incomplete, unprofessional and inconsistent. They told us to advise our friends to move their children from that practice, given what they saw in our child's medical record. Other details: -As a general rule, staff/receptionists do not return phone calls or messages. -Email and fax access to people on staff is nonexistent. -Getting a live person on the phone is nearly impossible -No weekend hours, no vacation backup -Some of the nursing staff are very unprofessional (screaming fit because there is a spider on the wall) -"Salesy" kind of atmosphere, trying to get you to buy expensive herbal and dietary supplements. Any benefit gained by being a slightly "less traditional" pediatric practice disappeared as every time my child saw Dr. Sant she ended up with an antibiotic prescription anyway. read more

I just received my records after waiting 3 weeks and paying 40 dollars. They told me it would take 7 to 10 days, and I had to call and remind them to send them. They sent my records in an envelope to small for traditional letter so they folded it up like a square. I now have to give records over that look like a child folded it. But what's worse is that I paid 40 dollars for records to be put on a cd disk. What in the world is that? And what did I pay 40 dollars for? This has to be the most unprofessional business and doctors office. And I completely agree with the other reviewer the office is set up to sell you. My children went to Wholekids for several years. I really liked Dr. Sant and her views on medicine and her care of my children. The office staff throughout the years was most often lacking in quality customer service, though. Once they initiated the paid membership policy we left their practice. We pay enough for insurance, and everything else, and their quality of service was not deserving of additional money from our pockets. Unfortunate. read more

I started going to this practice when they first opened after my first child was born. It started out a bit unorganized but that didn't bother me much because I loved the nurses. By the time my second baby came along, a lot of things changed for the worse. She got a blood test and I called the nurse line for advice on that, no response. My son had a possible allergic reaction right after that and after having an online visit with a doctor through my insurance, I called to see if I should bring him in to get checked in person too. No response. I stupidly paid the new membership fee for last year and this year. They say it is for extra services, including access to a lactation consultant. I tried to get an appointment with her and they said it would be and extra $40 charge, on top of the $120 I had already paid. I don't mind paying for a service but paying for something that I feel I've already paid for is unreasonable, I cancelled. There were other things too, too much to mention honestly. After I paid the second year fee in January I decided to leave the practice after the multiple instances of not being called back. I called the billing department to see if I could get a portion of the insane amount of money I we billed just to be a member of a below average practice back, since I had only been a member for one month. Once again, no response. But what was I expecting? I have no complaints with the nurses as they were all helpful and kind, and Adrienne is a wonderful NP but I am surprised that she is supporting these practices. read more

We have been patients of this doctor for some time, I've always disliked the rude office staff we have interacted with, however we enjoy the practitioners and felt it was worth the hassle, until today, today took the cake!! The office manger was SO unprofessional, rude and absolutely wrong with all aspects of what he was saying. I was completely shocked and appalled by his behavior, in front of my children no less!! As a nurse and mother of 8, I get asked frequently about who I would recommend as pediatrician, I will NEVER recommend this practice again, infact my family will be seeking care elsewhere! Please consider the importance of the office staff when making your pediatrician selections, they play a vital role in making things run soomthly or causing headaches!! Dr. Sant is a wonderful pediatrician. But her front staff and business people are terrible. For us, after two years, rude, incompetent personnel outweighed Dr. Sant's thoughtful, careful approach to treating her patients. I am a CPA and JD with a cadillac insurance plan who paid their annual fee for two years for both kids and still, I was being treated by the billing manager like a criminal. At the last appointment, we arrived 10 minutes early. No one was at the front desk. 20 minutes later, a sour looking lady showed up and informed me that my insurance was inactive. It wasn't, they just called the wrong place. We were then kept waiting for 20 more minutes while the billing manager got involved because -- get this -- we are not allowed to see the doctor until she personally verifies the insurance. Of course, she is wholly unable to do so, since she was calling the wrong number or the wrong company. No other office runs things this way. In no other doctor's office will you be kept waiting by the staff because they are too incompetent to verify insurance. No other office ever had issues with my insurance and even this office submitted invoices and got paid for two years by the same insurance policy. Nothing had changed. Yet we were 50 minutes past our appointment time by the time the billing manager was finally able to figure out who to talk to to confirm that my insurance is indeed active -- in other words, how to do her job. My time is valuable. My children's time is valuable. I pulled both kids out of school early to see their doctor. Instead, they ended up seeing an incomptent clerk who acted like she was doing me a favor by telling me 50 minutes later that my insurance was still valid. I already knew that. This could've been resolved over the phone or while children were being seen. It wasn't. The entire time, I was spoken to and treated like a common criminal trying to get away with theft. Enough is enough. When asked for a pro rated refund of the annual fee, I was told that I would be sent a check "whenever they get around to it." The billing manager likewise refused my repeated requests to talk to Dr. Sant to tell her why exactly we were leaving her practice. If this is the kind of billing practices and customer service you are willing to put up with, by all means, go see Dr. Sant. My children and I deserve better. read more

Nice Doctor, horrible business practices. We were just informed that we have to pay $100 per child, per year just for the privilege of being seen. This is addition to all other charges. It's a membership. Ridiculous. Insurance costs are high enough, co-pays and prescriptions and everything else are straining people... now we have to pay just to be a patient. Ridiculous. Another doctor prescribed my toddler a extended series of laxatives, which surely would have made her dependent, she would have been on them for life. She was miserable. Dr Sant helped us find a more natural approach, now she goes regularly and she doesn't have to take drugs with concerning side effects. read more

Basically: Adrienne and Dr. Sant are excellent and helpful, and it feels like they really know and care about all my kids, and I feel like my kids all receive personalized care. But. Oh the but. We've been patients since the practice was brand-new, and we've tried to ride out the choppy waters of what feels like regular front desk and billing staff changes and more than that--a surliness quality to interactions with the front desk and billing--an attitude. I've had at least four to five billing issues where I needed to figure out a coding or some such thing or other or issues on if I had paid a charge, and after each interaction or phone call, I leave with my heart racing because it's been such a negative conversation. Ugh. I hate that. AND it takes hours to figure out and undo. Again, this is only front office staff: there is a basic lack of politeness, a lack of warmth--and above that--because I'm not just judging on soft factors, a lack of competence. I get that you must have messy books in the back that you're trying to clean up or some previously too-lenient policy, but now you're overcorrecting. When I have a $60 balance from an appointment that occurred just a few weeks prior that you haven't even invoiced me for yet--I don't expect to have to pay that on-site before I've even looked at the charges. I was holding my feverish, sick toddler and the receptionist wouldn't let me see the doctor until I had paid this brand-new, never-been-invoiced charge that I hadn't even seen. At one point, I had to sit my daughter down to use both hands on my phone and stand at the reception desk, and my daughter was moaning my name from the back play area chair. Until I could pay that previous charge. What? It was more than upsetting. And super unnecessary. If you're a Wholekids patient and you haven't experienced it yet, you will. Just hang in there. Have more kids, stick around, and wait for it. Dr. Sant and Adrienne are fantastic, but wait for it--that front office will be unnecessarily rude and/or incompetent to you yet. It does make me feel so much better to read the Google reviews and these Yelp reviews and realize: it's not just me! It's truly a shame because Adrienne and Dr. Sant are really great. 1.) OVER USE OF ANTIBIOTICS. They throw antibiotics at nearly everything, then have the gall to prescribe probiotics. Here's a medical fact: Antibiotics kill everything, including gut bacteria, thus by over prescribing antibiotics, it completely destroys the gut bacteria, thus requiring the use of probiotics ( http://chriskresser.com/the-high-price-of-antibiotic-use-can-our-guts-ever-fully-recover/ ) 2) ORDERING ODD LABS: They asked us to take my kids to get lab work done, that according to the RN's at the facility, " this practice and only one other practice in the Columbus area request these lab tests, and that for all practical purposes are useless". After consulting a pediatrician at Nationwide Children's Hospital, he confirmed what the nurses at the other facility said. 3.) HIDDEN FEES and FEE SWITCHING: This pediatrician charges a yearly membership fee ( around 200$ ) which is one of FEW offices in Columbus that practice yearly fees. As of last, there was no mention of any fees on their website. The real kicker is we were told in late ( around thanksgiving time) 2014 if we paid the fees for 2015, the fees would be discounted for the year of 2015. On Dec. 2014 the fees were paid. However just recently we were told that this was not the case, and were asked again to pay the fees once more. That the fees that were paid in 2014 were for 2014 and not for 2015 as they had informed us. At the same appointment I questioned a bill that I had received in the mail. The receptionist looked at the records and told me there were no outstanding balances on any of the kids accounts. Still to this date: a little over a year, we have never seen the practices head DR. The reviews for Wholekids are all over the place, but I felt compelled to share my experiences to (hopefully) even things out a bit. My son has been a patient at Wholekids for over a year now, and we've had great experiences with the practice. I can understand why some people are frustrated with the office staff - there is certainly a decent amount of turnover - however, there are a few employees that have been there the entire time we've been going to the practice, and they have been wonderful. They are always warm and friendly, very accommodating, and are genuinely excited to see us when we come in. In terms of finances, to date I have had no issues with billing/insurance - it's always been very smooth. Do I love the membership fee? No. I agree with most reviewers that it seems a bit unnecessary. However, it is very important to me that my son gets care from medical professionals who follow holistic/integrative approaches to medicine, so I just chalked it up to the cost of having a doctor/NP that I trust. Speaking of NPs, Adrienne is phenomenal! She never makes me feel rushed, is great with the baby, always asks good questions, and explains things very well. We've only seen Dr. Sant twice, so I don't have as much to say about her, but I certainly don't have any complaints. read more

Do NOT recommend. As many have described, TERRIBLE business practices. My daughter caught pink-eye, they coded it as eye SURGERY, and, as it was not "pre-approved," I received thousands in bills. It took months and months for the office to fix it - dozens and dozens of increasingly exasperating phone calls. Clearly - it wasn't their concern. Also - Dr. Sant didn't keep my daughter up on her vaccines & she wound up contracting Whooping Cough. And, Dr. Sant does NOT practice what she preaches - lets just say that I was very disheartened by her personal choices -- not at all what I expected from a Pediatrician, much less someone that presents themselves as progressive & holistic. read more

I have been taking my daughter here since birth and she is almost 2. We love Nurse Adrienne (NP) who our daughter usually sees but the lady that runs the front does not have good business ethic and the practice is not run properly. Recently they told my wife we owed them $200 for two visits where the claims were rejected by insurance company. The lady running the front said it was because "we had not met our deductible". My wife paid the $200 before I could call my insurance company to verify. The insurance company said that the claims were not filed with 90 days so they would not be processed. The lady told the insurance company that we signed a waiver to cover anything the insurance company would not cover. I did not know this included negligence on the part of the billing side of the office. While the care our daughter received was great, the practice is ran backwards. Also they rarely have programs that make the $100 annual fee they charge for no reason worthwhile. read more

everyone that i've spoken to who works at whole kids pediatrics is completely inept, rude, and unprofessional. I scheduled an appointment for my son and when I arrived on time, I was told by one of the receptionists that there was nothing in their "system" indicating that I had an appointment, and rather than apologize for their mishap, the guys said "I mean just because you say you had an appointment doesn't mean I can let you in, you know... I just can't let anyone come here who walks in from the street". Finally after about 15 minutes of confusion, he realized it was their mistake and gave a quick, curt "sorry". My son was weighed, I took an elementary type quiz that screened him for autism, they told me he was fine( which I knew), signed a piece of paper for him to enter preschool without a vaccine schedule, I paid a bunch of money out of pocket and went on my way. I called again today to pay the remainder of my bill, had a difficult time getting ahold of anyone, but when I did, the receptionist put me on hold for 3 minutes, returns to the phone and asks to call me back, calls me back 15 minutes later, and well.... let's just say she wasn't the most competent, nor friendly person in the world. Unfortunately I have never met with Dr. Sant, so I can't comment there, other than, perhaps if she is as great as some of the other reviewers claim, she might consider hiring a better staff. read more

Just like the previous comment we had made an appointment and once we arrived I was told theres nothing in the system. We spoke with "john" on the phone who scheduled the visit for our newborn. We drove from Newark with a 3 day old and a 2 year old just to be told theres nothing in the "system". You would have thought we would receive some sort of an apology or something in that regard... We joined the practice in 2013 fully aware of the membership fee and as far as concierge doctors go it's an incredibly small fee. I work in medical research and while in not a doctor I do know more than Dr Google and really liked Dr Sant approach. While we were there we liked the nurses and generally saw Adrienne (because Dr Sant only 3 days a week) whose the NP and we liked her too. Then some changes started happening, first after the front desk person left (I'm assuming because she had her baby) they hired someone with no professionalism. I always enjoy waiting while the new front desk person yells at either her son or her sons school for suspending him, again. Then turn around time on things started getting slower and slower. Then, after saying my son has the same auto immune disease that I have for two year (after we did testing) when it came time to send him to school she refused to put it in writing. When I showed her all the copies of previous times she'd put it in writing for day care so they would take extra precautions with him and that it wasn't her decision to make whether or not it was a disability (showing her all kinds of things from the ADA and even referring her to the ADAs phone number to call them and ask herself) she told me that even if my son did have this disease (which she's now retracted) she doesn't considered it physical disability. This is despite showing her the court case we're it clearly establishes that it's a disability and me talking with multiple people at the ADA hotline, the DOE, and the DOJ all confirming that this qualifies but that essentially they can't make her write it. So now I'm stuck with getting in with trying to find new doctor who doesn't mind doing there job and assisting the public schools in following the law. read more

I was looking up the address of this practice and saw the Yelp reviews. We have been long time patients of WholeKids Pediatrics and couldn't be happier there. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Years ago we had difficulty getting an appointment when my son was an infant but that was before Adrienne (the nurse practitioner) was hired. I feel like Dr. Sant, Adrienne and Nurse Amy actually care about children and spend as much time as needed. They have always responded to my requests on the portal within 24 hours as indicated. Yes, there is a "fee" but I feel like it is warranted as well visits have always been thorough (the doctor or NP spends around 30 minutes or more with us). It is well know that insurance companies barely reimburse for visits, encouraging practices that emphasize quantity of visits in a day vs. quality. I appreciate the quality of care that we receive at Whole Kids and am willing to pay extra for it. read more

We began going to Wholekids with my newborn because of the promise of a different type of medical practice focusing on integrative care. As it began apparent that my son has special needs, Wholekids continued to drop the ball. The experience that caused me to switch practices (we're extremely happy with Hilliard Pediatrics) was the way they handled a prescription for orthotics. Both of our PTs felt very strongly that my son would benefit from a certain type of orthotic. I called the orthotist and was able to get an appointment a week later. I went to Wholekids in person and with a written description of the type of prescription my son required. A week later and they day before the orthotist appointment, I called the orthotist to confirm that they received the prescription. They had not. I called Wholekids and requested that the prescription be sent (the orthotist is also steps from the Wholekids office). I spoke with Dee who informed me that she did not believe that the orthotics were medically necessary. I told her that wasn't her decision to make and to please get the prescription to the orthotist. She said she didn't know if they would be able to complete my request due to the short time frame. I told that my son was currently in the midst of an EEG and again that I needed the prescription. I ended up calling my son's neurologist, speaking to a nurse, and getting the prescription completed. The staff of Wholekids is incompetent and negates any benefit that might be gained by going to the practice. read more
