When I asked him which camp he would want to sign up for next year, he listed Camp Imagineerz as his "must" choice without hesitation. Pick up and drop off were all seamlessly done. The third party lunch option offered at the camp was amazing. All the staff I had encounters with had positive and upbeat energy. The curriculum is focused on creativity, problem solving and social emotional skills, and they weave these skills together by planning and prepping for weekly skits they put out at the end of each week. My son absolutely loved this camp, and we will definitely return.

At the end of the camp, parents are invited to see what the kids constructed during the week and they put on a show for you. What I was most impressed with was that they instill in the kids this "I-Can" mindset, which teaches the kids what to do when they face adversity, issues and driving that positive mindset that they can overcome it. The most fun part is at the end of camp where, the kids get to "dunk" the counsellors with water which always ends with squeals of delight ... At the time, it was suggested multiple times that I was "confused," there was no further exploration as to what happened, and my parents were never told. I myself did not tell them as I was so ashamed after speaking up and having it dismissed. years later, I wrote the adult woman I had told about my experience trying to understand why nothing was done- she told me that she had brought up the issue with the director (and I think founder?) as well as other staff and it never went further than that. I wrote the director, and he said he has no knowledge of it? As a woman and mother now, I recognize the counselor who molested me was practiced and I do fear there were other campers who went through what I did :( I really, really just wish they had spoke to my family about what had happened so that there would have been accountability and hopefully it would have never happened to someone else at the least if it had, we (I) wouldn't have felt so alone. it took my years to enjoy backpacking and the outdoors again- it was so very hard to have such an experience in the most beautiful of places

Camp Unalayee is the most amazing summer camp EVER to exist!…read more The summer program at Unalayee is so amazing, not only because of the location (which is absolutely breathtaking) but also because the staff, returning and new campers each year create an amazing community. My parents brought me up to Camp Unalayee when I was six years old and from then on I was hooked. I've made life long friends and skills. I highly recommend this camp to any person young and mature.

I love the flexibility to drop off and pick up when you want; I love the refund policy. I love that they always, always check your ID when you check your kid out. There are rules and there are daily gatherings and traditions, which the kids like, but they have a lot of freedom. They often sprint through the doors so excited to be there. On countless occasions over many summers the counselors and Director have gone out of their way to help us with our specific issues. Highly recommend if you have an active kid or want an unstructured experience.

But I think they should spell out that policy on their website, and then parents can ponder why the policies are different. One possibility is they might not want parents to look into a room and see a bunch of 4 year olds staring at iPad screens? Parents can easily roam the outside areas where campers are playing, just not the inside rooms or hallway. Otherwise the camp has been decent. My son talks about the iPads the most.

After the fact I found some great information about Galileo: -Galileo uses an "innovation approach" for teaching which is very similar to the design process taught at Stanford D-School and used by famous design strategy consultancies like IDEO. -It was voted one of the best places to work at in the Bay Area and you can see it in the optimism and quality of their staff and camp counselors. Our camp was at Walter Hays elementary school, pickup and drop off was very organized and the camp felt safe and secure with a high student/teacher ratio. We were part of the Olympic Games and Toymaker themed weeks and my son loved both weeks there. He talked about what they did everyday glowingly and came back with lots of interesting toys, gold courses, olympic torches, etc.. they had made. Ricky, the director went above and beyond when they forgot to pack my kids epi-pen the first week. Going out of his way to call us and giving us extended time to pick up the pen.

The classroom is small, poorly ventilated, and uncomfortably hot. The children spend most of the time sitting at tables assembling LEGO independently, with very little guidance or group interaction. This does not feel like a camp environment, especially for younger kids. On the first day, my son (who does not speak English) had no real interaction with other children and spent most of the time sitting alone. He did not use the restroom at all during a full day (9:00 AM-2:30 PM), which already raised concerns about supervision. On the second day, I specifically asked staff to remind him to use the restroom and assist him if needed. I was told they would have another child take him instead of an adult, which is not appropriate for a 4-year-old, especially one who does not speak English. He ended up having a bathroom accident. Staff called me but refused to help him change, even though he had spare clothes in his backpack. When I arrived 30-40 minutes later, my son was sitting outside in wet clothes, crying, with no meaningful support provided. Staff made no real effort to comfort him or help resolve the situation. This was extremely distressing for my child and not an acceptable level of care. Overall concerns: - Lack of supervision for young children - No assistance in basic situations (bathroom, changing) - Inappropriate expectations for a 4-year-old - Minimal engagement or structured activities - Uncomfortable indoor conditions This experience did not meet basic expectations for safety, care, or age-appropriate programming.

Next year she will be attending a premier art / design school with a substantial scholarship. We attribute a good portion of our daughter's success to the foundational skills developed and refined over the years under Alla's tutelage with many of the pieces in her admissions portfolio being developed with Alla's guidance. There are many great memories from over the years since we had Alla host birthdays, sent our children to summer camps and participated in group art excursions to Yosemite. The ballet program is very organized and their art program provides such a creative and unique activities (Especially, their summer camp program is worth the money) as well. I've been keeping all of my daughter's art works since each of them is just absolutely precious. I drive from San Jose just so she can get the highest quality training and experience. I drop off my daughter at the art studio and pick her up at the ballet studio in 2 hours. My daughter was always excited to go there and came back with full of joy.
