My daughters have been going to Camp Imagineerz every summer since the summer after kindergarten…read moreand they are now heading into fifth grade. We've done 2-3 weeks every summer at the Los Altos location, and this is literally the only camp they've asked to return to every single year. What makes Imagineerz special is that it genuinely grows with the kids. It's not a camp they age out of. The program is designed for them to take on more responsibility and leadership as they get older. My girls have spent the last couple years as "leads," helping create and perform the weekly show, learning lines, designing sets, working with younger campers, and figuring out how to pull together a great show with the younger kids. Now they're simultaneously sad to leave that stage behind and also so excited to move into the next level where they'll take on more responsibility for helping the younger kids and supporting running the camp. They already talk about becoming counselors in the future! There's a real philosophy behind the camp. Kids have agency and are encouraged to be creative/bold, and trusted with meaningful responsibility for their age. The staff is also exceptional. Many return every year, including former campers who have grown up through the program, so there's a sense of community that I haven't see as much with other camps. They're fun and goofy with the kids, but also super thoughtful and attentive. We've gotten notes about small moments when one of our daughters showed kindness or leadership, which makes our girls SO proud. I especially appreciate that they notice kids as individuals and reinforce the moments when they work through challenges or help someone else. And importantly, my kids just LOVE it. There are theme days, costumes, water Wednesday, weekly performances, and silly camp traditions. After all these years and multiple weeks they still can't wait to go back. We don't have that with any other camp besides sleepaway. It's rare to find a program where you completely trust the people caring for your kids AND your kids love being there. We're five summers in, and I hope my girls are still part of this community when they're in high school. ICan 't recommend it enough (you'll get the joke if you join :) )

We signed up for 2 weeks at the Palo Alto location last year and 2 weeks at the Los Altos location this summer. There are a few things that make this camp special: among them are the really nice staff, LITs, and Junior LITs (Leaders in Training). They're often older kids who love this program so much that they return to help younger kids out with creative building from recycled materials. As an example, my son had an idea of attaching a toilet paper tube to a box, and one of the Jr LITs showed him how to cut the tube in a way to attach more securely to the box. My son really bonded with Salsa last year and looked forward to seeing him again this year. Another highlight is the play that they work on and perform on the last day. Everyone gets a chance to bring the play to life, whether it's a speaking part of working on props. My son's always had a wonderful time making his own costume in the earlier days of the camp.

The third party lunch option offered at the camp was amazing. All the staff I had encounters with had positive and upbeat energy. The curriculum is focused on creativity, problem solving and social emotional skills, and they weave these skills together by planning and prepping for weekly skits they put out at the end of each week. My son absolutely loved this camp, and we will definitely return.

At the end of the camp, parents are invited to see what the kids constructed during the week and they put on a show for you. What I was most impressed with was that they instill in the kids this "I-Can" mindset, which teaches the kids what to do when they face adversity, issues and driving that positive mindset that they can overcome it. The most fun part is at the end of camp where, the kids get to "dunk" the counsellors with water which always ends with squeals of delight ... This is a truly fun and creative camp that I'm sure any child will enjoy!!

The day is not specifically scheduled and kids have a chance to choose their own activities and where they want to go. I love the flexibility to drop off and pick up when you want; I love the refund policy. I love that they always, always check your ID when you check your kid out. There are rules and there are daily gatherings and traditions, which the kids like, but they have a lot of freedom. They often sprint through the doors so excited to be there. On countless occasions over many summers the counselors and Director have gone out of their way to help us with our specific issues. Highly recommend if you have an active kid or want an unstructured experience.

Those facilities are subject to significant CA regulations, including the right of parents to observe care unannounced whenever they want. This camp is not, which I found out when I waited more than 20 minutes for the camp to find my 4 year old and was not allowed to go find him, even with staff escort. If the company wants to run the camps with radically different policies from the licensed centers, they can. But I think they should spell out that policy on their website, and then parents can ponder why the policies are different. One possibility is they might not want parents to look into a room and see a bunch of 4 year olds staring at iPad screens? Parents can easily roam the outside areas where campers are playing, just not the inside rooms or hallway. Otherwise the camp has been decent. My son talks about the iPads the most.

They even wrote holiday letters for each child in December, which my kids greatly appreciated. What surprises me is that my son also enjoys the art class, even though he had always believed he wasn't good at art. He had tried several lessons at other studios but never found one he liked. He only took a trial lesson with Ms. Chelsey at Victoria's Art because my daughter had a lesson scheduled for that day, and I needed to find an activity for him during that time. After the trial, he asked me to sign him up for regular classes, which is a testament to how much he enjoyed it. My son describes his lessons by saying, "Ms. Chelsey is caring and kind. She makes me feel comfortable and inspired. Making art makes me happy."

After the fact I found some great information about Galileo: -Galileo uses an "innovation approach" for teaching which is very similar to the design process taught at Stanford D-School and used by famous design strategy consultancies like IDEO. -It was voted one of the best places to work at in the Bay Area and you can see it in the optimism and quality of their staff and camp counselors. Our camp was at Walter Hays elementary school, pickup and drop off was very organized and the camp felt safe and secure with a high student/teacher ratio. We were part of the Olympic Games and Toymaker themed weeks and my son loved both weeks there. He talked about what they did everyday glowingly and came back with lots of interesting toys, gold courses, olympic torches, etc.. they had made. Ricky, the director went above and beyond when they forgot to pack my kids epi-pen the first week. Going out of his way to call us and giving us extended time to pick up the pen.

Was a great camp for my daughter last summer. As an 8 year old she spent a week learning how to…read moreuse tools like handsaws, drills, sanders, etc. Her planned project was a wooden key caddy to hang on the wall. She got done a little early so they let her start a flying elephant that you hang from the ceiling with a cord that will flap the wings. It's a bit of a daunting project, but she was so set on getting it done they let her stay later with another older class so she could finish it. It's was a great confidence building camp, as the kids do the work. Not like some of the camps where it's kind of glorified babysitting.

He was in the lowest group, which they designate with a colored bracelet. They did a terrific job, little kids were always 1:1 in the water. While the head lifeguard instructed, several counselors and junior counselors were in the water, with kids sitting on the edge waiting for their turn, kicking and splashing. The owner/operators were fabulous, such a pleasure to visit with them. They personally run the show, leading checkin, checkout, etc. Pickup and dropoff was easy and fast, no parking issues, although it was so close we could walk.
