This review is specifically for the layout of the weights on the second floor. More specifically,…read morethe location of the bench press (2) and incline bench (1). The position of the two bench presses and incline bench are pushed up against the wall on the East side of the building. Right where the steel reinforcement beams are located which leaves NO space to safely spot your partner without hitting your head or back on one of those beams. You cannot even get behind them without crawling around the weights or beams themselves. This is incredibly dangerous and a major safety issue. Whomever designed the layout of the weight room does not appear to have experience with weight training. The nautilus machines and free weight areas should probably be switched. There is nowhere to safely stretch (people do it under the stairs) or do ab exercises, box jumps, etc. Someone, with knowledge of weight training, should redesign the space for efficiency and safety.

This facility has a wall of huge windows with a beautiful view of the mountains. It's kept up & clean. There's always plenty of parking...there are even charging stations for electric vehicles. Note, membership is free for Denver residents that are 60+ & those ages 5-18. With membership you have access to all 30 Denver rec centers & pools. I regularly go to two classes - one is a Cardio & Strength class & the other is Tai Chi, both are drop-in. The instructors are fun & very knowledgeable. Christine teaches the cardio class & always demonstrates modifications, so it's perfect for all levels of fitness. Maureen is very well versed in Tai Chi as well. This is a fantastic center with fabulous instructors.

I've considered trying it for awhile but wasn't sure if it was for me but I only wish I'd done it sooner! These classes are hard, don't get me wrong, but hard in a good way. First of all, they don't heat the room which is great because these "hot" classes that are trending right now are just not for me. You won't be drenched in sweat but will still have worked your muscles so hard! What's amazing too- I struggle with low back pain and a standing job. Over just a few months of doing this class 1-2x week, my back pain has improved tremendously! I've tried core work before but it's never helped me like this has. Also- everyone at this studio is amazing. It's such a warm, supportive environment where you feel comfortable to struggle with movements and try new things without judgement. The instructors are all amazing about helping you correct your form and not making you feel bad because your body just isn't able to do certain movements. You can truly show up as a beginner and not be at all self conscious because everyone's muscles shake and everyone encourages you! I can't say enough good things about these classes or this studio. The new owner Monica is also so amazing and welcoming!

Mike's awesome, I am happy that I was able to join. Original Review: I wanted to join this gym. It looks so nice inside and outside! I'm sure it's a great gym. My employer started a new Active&Fit program, and I chose this gym to join. I walked in during the staffed hours, and found the manager's office. He held up a finger, wanting me to wait. I sat out on a ledge by the front door for 20 minutes while he talked on his headset. When he came out, he told me he had an appointment and he wanted me to come back in 30 minutes. I only had an hour lunch, so I had already lost 30 minutes with driving here and waiting for him to come tell me that he couldn't help me. How can I come back any other day to sign up, when I could end up just sitting and waiting for them to tell me they can't help me? I'm sad that I couldn't sign up, and workout. I am going to try again. I'll update my review if/when I get signed up.

They look like they're from the 1970s. I would be embarrassed to be the owner or an employee of this place. My anytime gym membership gives me access to multiple locations. I can confirm the gym I experienced this at is the Mayfair-Park Hill location at 6005 E Colfax Ave. **Update** I received a call from an employee named Hunter who shared this is the expectation for what a gym member will experience at this location. Hunter informed me the AC unit was on and running properly and stated unfortunately the AC does not have the capacity to keep the gym at cooler temperatures. His resolution was to come back during cooler months or "to go to a different gym" all together.

I took the beginners class (included with a membership) that introduced me to the important knots for climbing. You get the needed equipment included with your first class (harness, shoes, belaying carabineers) although you can bring your own if you have it. If you aren't sure about gear, they have daily and monthly rentals while you figure it out. They've said that the routes will be getting changed regularly so it never gets stale, and they have some impressively challenging looking ones (I'll need a few years to work up to some of them). The staff that I've interacted with have all been very friendly. I've talked to them a few times outside of Ubergrippen (usually at Cheluna trivia night) and they've stated that becoming a part of the local community is really important to them. I'm really excited that they came to this community and I'm excited about having them here for a long time to come.

Once I finished these necessities, I was ready to climb. Within these thirty minutes, the gym got overrun by children of all ages and their parents. We had a rough time getting on routes, as the congestion was overwhelming. Parents who were belaying, letting their kids just hang off the wall without progress being made for way too long. We got tired of being tertiary patrons and left after losing patience. I inquired on our way out and was informed that gym is often overrun by children. This day had a "special" event but seemed more like the norm after inquiring. If you want to climb, I'd look elsewhere.
