This location is way more accessible than the populated royal mile location, so we were happy to snag a bowl on day 2 in Edinburgh. The crackling skin was my fav (ordered extras as a side option!), and it was good haggis and apple sauce on the side. Looks like they do catering (whole pig or a leg), which is a fun idea if I lived in the area.

It might have been a fluke so I don't want to give too low of a score but I really was let down by Oink. We stopped in because we say so many reviews about how great Oink is and were in need of a quick bite during some sight seeing. We grabbed a Sage and Onion Oink sandwich with chili jam and it was just dry. I think next time I would ask for extra sauce and maybe even grow a pair and try haggis. The whole ordering process was super easy and there was seating but not tons luckily we took ours to go.

I was there when it open, early still, no line. Pulled pork sandwich was delicious and warm, perfect right after a hike from Arthur's Seat. Will come back again for a quick bite.

LOVE this place! I wish they came to the states! The shop is small and the lines can be long but definitely worth the wait! Don't wait too long because they sell out fast. I would recommend getting there early for lunch. Beer and soda options and their sandwiches are excellent. Mouthwatering crispy pork skin with soft, tender meat. Offers just enough options for toppings. I recommend both the apple chutney and chili sauce. What a dream. I would have had a picture of the sandwich but I honestly couldn't wait to get into it. One of the must go to's in Edinburgh.

Delicious and cheap! I was walking the Royal Mile when I smelled this delicious place before seeing the neon pink writing. Pork. Lovely pork. So for 6 pounds you can get a complete combo meal of a medium pork sandwich, bag of chips and a drink. The sandwich isn't puny either, but a decent sized one filled with tender roast pork, and if you like the cracking (skin) be sure to ask them for some. You choose the size, then the bread (wheat or white) then the topping of onion and sage / or haggis then the sauce (I chose apple)\ It tasted like Thanksgiving - yummy

While many don't eat roast pork... I still do enjoy it. I saw this place several times while riding around on the hop on hop off bus and had to try it.. The roast pork was good but it was nothing to write home about either. The roast was fresh but wasn't very flavorful. This definitely is a quick snack if there is no time for meal, but this shouldn't be your main course for the evening.

Fast-casual concept with delicious pulled pork. I hesitated to try out Oink because American-style barbecue in the touristy parts of Edinburgh seemed sketchy. I'm glad I took the risk. Oink's food is fabulous. There's really only one thing on the menu: pulled pork. They have one whole hog for the day. Once they run out of meat, they close up shop. So the opening hours you see on Yelp may not be exact. My advice is to come around noon for lunch. Once inside, the menu is very straightforward. You choose your portion of meat, your bread, your stuffing, and your sauce. I chose The Grunter (largest portion) with brown bread, haggis as the stuffing, and homemade chili jam as the sauce. It was ridiculously good. The meat was more moist and more flavorful than most American barbecue places. The sauce was phenomenal. My two criticisms are 1) the meat was a bit too salty, and 2) the crispy pork rind added into the sandwich was a bit of a chewing hazard. That rind is so sharp, it is like a shard of glass in the sandwich. Others in my group just picked it out of their sandwich. I think serving it on the side like potato chips would be safer. Still, you may lose a tooth! Please use caution!

Stopped by recently for a Hog in a Box, and enjoyed my meal. The hog in a box is a good fix for those not wanting bread, while getting to try a very delicious meal. We got it with applesauce, and stuffing, but there are many other options for sauces, as well as haggis as a base. This didn't seem to include anything in the way of cracklings, which was disappointing. You can see the pig right on display in the window, and once it's gone, they're done for the day!

Great little fast food place with good pulled pork sandwiches. You get a choice of bread, and sauce. And it's a good deal!

Walking back from a running event in Holyrood Park, I stumbled upon this great new location for Oink. It just opened today and isn't just a popup for the festival -- it's here to stay to bring a delicious quick lunch alternative to Holyrood! Although the location is small, it has slightly more seating than the original location on Victoria Street. It has the hog roast in one window and a great big table by the other window, and fresh new decor. My oink sandwich with crackling, sage and onion stuffing and apple chutney was delicious as always. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, too. As always with Oink, when the hog roast is gone it's gone for the day! I'm thrilled to see they have this new convenient location and the same great food.

    Oink!

It's the kind of place you feel like there is a positive vibe both from a service perspective and from an employment perspective that pervades the essence of the service. But also, these were just lovely people. The food was phenomenal. I had the hot italian panini toasted and my daughter had the millionaires shortbread (which means covered in caramel and chocolate!) Both were terrific. The sandwich was hot, both in temperature and spice levels, with a great texture, an herby pesto, gooey cheese, and delicious hot peppers. I was convinced to give the Irn Brew a shot. "As Scottish as haggis!" he said. I'm not sure I loved the Scottish soda but I was glad for the adventure and the Scottish experience! In an area popular with tourists there are often many places where the service is not amazing because they know you may never come back and their employers are focused on churning as many people through as possible. In those places it often seems more time is spent on the descriptions of the food and advertising than the food and experience itself. Or, there are chains, like the Starbucks literally right there. This was not the case. This place was special. The food and the people compete for excellence (although the people win in my opinion!) If you miss this, you are missing out. We are leaving the early tomorrow and I want to try and get there for breakfast! Just terrific.
