Pretty good food, but pricy for one of poorest towns in New Mexico, Las Vegas. We have eaten there 3 times but ordered out every time so we have no idea how the service is. Take out is fairly fast along with the best takeout containers we have ever seen. They seem to have people there all the time plus I know several people who really like it.

So we have never had a sushi restaurant in town and when I heard this place was opening up I was so excited. Normally the locals have to drive to Santa Fe to get a some sushi which takes time and costs more money. Oishi is a cool little spot in the El Fidel hotel. The space is a little small but so make sure to get there early if you want a good seat. The menu is good and has many items to choose from. There is a nice beer, wine, and saki selection. The only reason I am giving this review a 4 is because of the fact you do not get miso soup while you waiting for your sushi rolls. Every sushi joint I have gone to always give you complimentary miso soup. The sushi doesn't hit the same without it. Back to the positive the rolls are really good. The restaurant flies in fresh fish and you can tell the difference! I always get the Las Vegas roll or the spicy tuna. The squid salad and seaweed salad are great choices as well! Will def go back and will be hoping to get some complimentary miso next time.

I was shocked to see these ramen noodles (top ramen) in a $10 bowl of ramen. Subject to change hopefully.

We ordered a burrito, fries and drinks - a Manhattan for my wife and a chocolate martini with Kettle One and crème de cacao for me. My wife's drink was to her liking, but the chocolate martini tasted like there was coffee liqueur in it. Since I didn't know when our waitress would appear again, I told the first person we saw - a young man - that I couldn't drink anything with coffee because of the caffeine, and that I needed it remade. He took it back to redo. While we were waiting, one of the pool players dropped a very loud f-bomb when he missed a shot. Then a young child began crying very loudly. The young man came back with the remade drink, and the coffee taste was gone. After it had been over 45 minutes I had to ask what looked like the manager what had happened to our burrito and fries. She went back to check, and our food finally appeared. The burritos were long on rice and short on carne asada, something we couldn't know until we started eating. At some point our original waitress came back, and my wife told her we had to send back my first drink because of the coffee ingredient. She denied any coffee-containing spirit was used, and walked away. We never saw her again. I had to ask the manager for an itemized ticket, since the ones we had were sign for a total amount only, with no itemized detail. Since the original waitress had closed out our ticket right after we ordered and had given us our check, we paid and left. No tip was left. If you want a properly-mixed drink, be prepared to explicitly request every ingredient. Better still, don't expect great drinks or food at this place - stay away. There are lots of other choices in Las Vegas NM.

A girl met us at the door with menus and let us know to order at the counter. We ordered and sat down. Food came out quick. We shared the Queso Dip - it was good flavor, little spicy. I didn't love the texture of the cheese, kind of gritty, but the flavor was great and chips great. I got Barbacoa Taco and my dad got a classic taco. They were good. Mine a little dry but put a lil queso on there and that was perfect. Loved the tortilla they use. One thing I didn't like, the kitchen had their music BLASTING, could hear that better than the dinning room music. Very overstimulating with two very different types of music going.

No one else came to take them away till the near end of our meal so I found that a bit odd. Happy Hour runs twice daily with reduced prices on food & beverages from 3-5p and 9-10p. They have an extensive sake menu categorized by flavor profile designed for pairings, along with a lean but modern wine list including detailed tasting notes. Japanese whisky and exotic green tea (try the kuki cha!) round out a full beverage program, and deep booths offer private views of the lush valley below. Chef Kiko Rodriguez offers a four-course tasting menu at an exceptional value for $65 - trying this or any of Paloma's suggestions from their fresh sushi menu (only restaurant in New Mexico with fish flown in from Japan daily) will surely please. Gloriously chilled tuna sashimi was thinly sliced cut with heat from fresh wasabi and a savory ginger shoyu. Hand rolls are served in pairs, and the spicy tuna was simple, elegant, and delightful - a perfect showcase of the freshest fish. Before switching to dessert, shaved ginger is also snappy and cleansing. I was absolutely mind blown by the Sakura Pannacotta - delicate and dreamy custard textured like chawanmushi with soft aromatic cherry blossom and the most delectable shortbread accent. Three light courses that were fully nourishing, absolutely satisfying, and delightfully delicious!

The goodness began with Naomi, who helped me fix an error in my reservation and get a table at a good time tonight. The goodness continued with our server Mitzi, who should be teaching graduate classes in hospitality in every big city. She was friendly without being overbearing, informative without being pedantic, subtle and gracious. Now, the food! My wife chose the vegetarian tasting menu and I had some of each dish: so very flavorful (a green salad with pears, a life-changing mushroom bisque [and I don't like mushrooms!], a chickpea croquette with pickled artichoke hearts and ratatouille, and a substitution of the lemon crepe for three yummy scoops of sorbet and gelato. I chose the scallops, perfectly cooked and moist, over couscous, and a dish of tasty sauteed baby spinach. A wonderful experience, and not overpriced, and everyone treated us sweetly. The musical soundtrack was swinging, and at a compassionate volume. Our first trip to Santa Fe, and we found a gem. Hooray! And thank you, Mitzi!

The interior is classy and very comfortable. We were seated at a nice comfy corner booth. The soft music in the background was soothing and just noticeable enough without being a distraction. We were served complimentary flutes of local sparking wine and a fresh baked bread basket and butter to start. We then ordered cocktails and three starters. First was a split plate of the endive smoked duck salad with a warm bacon vinegarette. Wow...this was nice and refreshing. This was followed by the crab dumplings with fresh corn and peas and lobster sauce. Delicious! The final small plate was seared foie gras on top of banana bread toast. This was very good. I miss foie gras. Unfortunately, it's banned in California. They had a 2023 Sea Smoke "Ten"Pi ot Noir on the wine list. This is one of the best Pinot Noirs produced in California and not easy to find. This was a no doubter and we ordered a bottle to pair with our entrees. My wife ordered their signature elk tenderloin for redemption because the restaurant the night before failed at executing this. I ordered the tomahawk pork chop. This was cooked to perfection with a nice thin crust on the outside and a perfect very light pink juicy center. We ordered a side of brocolini that was pan roasted with shallots and butter. Everything was very good and Michelin grade in our opinion. Lastly we ended the evening and split the tiramasu type of desert. My wife had the expresso martini and I had an 18 year old Glen Morangie scotch neat. The service was excellent and worth the splurge. This is a must when visiting Santa Fe.
