This place is awesome. Nuzzled in a small plaza, this hidden gem is one that will have you coming back from more. It's some of the best sushi i've tasted starting from the ginger, wasabi, and other ingredients. Everything was so tasty. The atmosphere is super cute and gives you Japan vibes with the decor. Wow! This eclectic menu would impress in Las Vegas, NV! But it's found right here, in the cozy Sushi spot in the El Fidel. Customer service is quick and courteous! I tried the Surf and Turf and it was delicate yet hardy! You got to try that Jasmine tea as well :-). read more

I cannot stop eating the sushi tots w/lobster. Crazy good! And , of course the sushi is awesome- the High Country roll and California roll are often my go-to rolls. There are also a lot of great items for picky eaters- my MIL loves the tempura shrimp and gyoza. I never leave OISHI without being satisfied, and all of the food travels well as takeout, too. Very good food and service. The chef prepared some nice dishes to accommodate my vegan/gluten free diet. My husband had a sashimi selection plate and a very good roll. Pretty good food, but pricy for one of poorest towns in New Mexico, Las Vegas. We have eaten there 3 times but ordered out every time so we have no idea how the service is. Take out is fairly fast along with the best takeout containers we have ever seen. They seem to have people there all the time plus I know several people who really like it. read more

So we have never had a sushi restaurant in town and when I heard this place was opening up I was so excited. Normally the locals have to drive to Santa Fe to get a some sushi which takes time and costs more money. Oishi is a cool little spot in the El Fidel hotel. The space is a little small but so make sure to get there early if you want a good seat. The menu is good and has many items to choose from. There is a nice beer, wine, and saki selection. The only reason I am giving this review a 4 is because of the fact you do not get miso soup while you waiting for your sushi rolls. Every sushi joint I have gone to always give you complimentary miso soup. The sushi doesn't hit the same without it. Back to the positive the rolls are really good. The restaurant flies in fresh fish and you can tell the difference! I always get the Las Vegas roll or the spicy tuna. The squid salad and seaweed salad are great choices as well! Will def go back and will be hoping to get some complimentary miso next time. read more

Our experience at this sushi joint was less than appealing. I understand this is subject to change with time and I hope that the owners will continue to improve their business as they seemed like the kind of couple that will take feedback and improve on it. First impression: In the awesome historic building known as El Fidel. But for the god of our google search abilities and internet resources we could not find the hours so it was a gamble driving there in the first place. We tried calling the hotel but even they did not answer. I took a picture of the hours and will post to this review. That said it was a nice cozy place with a bar in the back. For a sushi joint I didn't see one Asian person behind the counter which is alarming but I understand we are in North NM so I wasn't too worried. At the time of this review the staff seemed friendly enough but they were rather slow to build sushi rolls. Either our waitress or chef somewhere along the way forgot about our order. We ordered an appetizer, one roll, and a bowl of ramen. The bowl of ramen was the first thing to come out. Followed by the appetizer (after a friendly reminder to waitress) By the time we were ready to leave the sushi roll still had not came out. (40 mins after initial order) The appetizer which was half squid half sea weed was good. The sushi roll I'm sure would have been tasty if we got to try it. But the biggest qualm was the ramen. Stay away from the ramen until they change it up. It was $10 for a bowl of ramen. The ramen was legit Top Ramen packs from wal-mart/Lowe's that they sell individually for 45 cents. But for some reason they add chicken, some garnish and little of their own broth and think they can up charge it to $10. That's almost criminal. After a few bites it was best decided to not ingest such ramen and our meal was on the house as clearly the staff could tell we were not enjoying ourselves. So for that I do appreciate the kindness of the staff as they were professional the whole way through despite dissatisfied customer. I may go back one day hopefully the owners continue to improve and at least get some real noodles for their ramen. As for the slow service with practice I believe the staff will push sushi rolls out a lot quicker. Overall this place needs work. But the potential is there and they will continue to need the business of the local area for in house improvements. For those of you who rarely get to eat sushi this is your place. Good sushi. They were out of a few things so we had substitutes on a few rolls and a few just not available. A few more rolls without siracha sauce would be a good menu add. Let me preface this by saying we ordered Take out. Be the said, this was our first time trying OISHI's. Unfortunately much of the food was over-cooked, especially the fried food but mushy on the inside, while the rice was pasty. The tempura shrimp & veggie side was adequate but nothing outstanding. In fact all the food lacked flavor, except for tasting fried . By the time I got the food home it was still hot (but nearing warm), so no complaints there. I'd be willing to give OISHI's one more try as it was nearing closing, it was a Saturday so maybe it was an inexperienced cook, and as I said it was take out - but if & when I do it will be dine in only! My co-workers and I ate here. The sushi was delicious and the service was all time! The chef takes pride in creating delicious, fresh sushi rolls. Appetizers: We had shrimp tempura, fried veggie rolls, and pork pot stickers all delicious but if you can't decide, go with The jalapeño bombers which are a MUST! All the appetizers were delicious. For rolls we ordered The 508 roll- delicious, fresh and spicy with a lemon zing to top it off. The Hawaiian roll was very delicious with generous portions of yellow tail. My favorite was the spicy scallop and the caterpillar roll! If you're in Las Vegas, definitely eat here. It's a great little sushi bar with top notch service. They are open Wed-Saturday. read more

In the past, we've had to drive at least an hour for sushi most of the week (there's one other restaurant in town that does a sushi night once a week) and so to have a dedicated sushi restaurant in a small town like Las Vegas is pretty revolutionary. They have a good selection of rolls, as well as other options for the non-fish eater like ramen, miso broth, and salads. Oishi also offers several types of Sake and the servers are knowledgable about the flavour pairings. We also had fried ice cream as a dessert which was described as 'ice cream inside a donut inside funnel cake,' and it was life changing. This place has probably the worst customer service i have ever seen or experienced. The amount of time they take to prepare a single roll of sushi is unacceptable and ridiculous (about 1 and a half hour in my case). So I ordered take out because the restaurant is not open yet. I ordered two bowls of the udon noodle soup with pork belly. When I got home it was just noodles. So had to go back and get the pork belly. Meanwhile my food is getting cold of course. When I get back and opened the container there were two little slices of pork belly for the two orders! I shit you not. Like 3" wide and 1/8" thick. That's what i drove all the way back for. I also ordered the teriyaki pork plate. Worse! I got one thin slice of pork with entire meal. Meanwhile, my bill was $98. This was my third visit to this restaurant. Last time was exactly like the other person who posted below. I went with my two daughters. After about twenty minutes they brought one of my daughter's meal. Twenty more minutes my other daughters. First daughters food went cold waiting for ours. I asked what was taking so long with the sushi and roll. Chef never made it. Another 20 minutes went by. Finally got the sushi and roll; my daughters had finished eating and had to watch me eat. The fish itself wasn't as fresh as I would like, but we are in northern new mex, so. I'm totally bummed cuz I was so excited when we finally got sushi in town read more
