My very dubious "pho"
Kristen B.

Overall 2/5 but if it was just my meal of pho it would be a 1/5. We did takeout so hard to rank service seemed friendly at pickup, place seems quaint but not fancy in the least. I am a pho fanatic (and I realize as takeout it's hard) and while I guess not inedible for pho it was fairly awful. Just completely flavorless broth, no sauces given in takeout, no jalapeños or basil in soup or as a side, I made the soup better in minutes at home adding a little hoisin, Sriracha, and rice vinegar. My companions had cashew chicken, spring roll bun (which seemed good) and we shared pork fried rice. I'm new to New Mexico and used to being surrounded by numerous crappy but cheap Chinese food places. In comparison- this food seemed better quality, smaller portions, and more expensive. An up charge for 3.50 for fried rice with the cashew chicken seems outrageous compared to a normal 1.00 charge. They give a small rice container only or even regular. Our side order of fried rice while better than the super cheap places I've been too charged as much and gave you half the portion while being on better than bad Chinese food. I'm not calling this great forced rice. I know food prices have gone up. This area isn't an Asian hub for cheap ingredients but fish sauce, sriracha and Jalapeños are not in short supply from what I've seen. I wouldn't try their pho again. I'll give them maybe one more try and get something else on the menu. Again the bun noodles seemed good.

Lots of noodles, but the noodles aren't good. The egg noodles did not taste like egg noodles. No texture to them - like a little bounce would've been nice :( The broth was also flavorless (even when I drank some straight up to try it). The spring rolls tasted like a dried taquito even though it was super oily. Apparently the fresh spring rolls was the worst thing my sister had ever had lol. The pork is like thinly cut cha su is interesting. They give you quite a bit. The restaurant is in such a random location, but it's surprisingly big and busy. They seemed to get a lot of orders at 5:30 - both dine in and to go. Service was good and food came out quickly.

This place does NOT look to be very sanitary. I called in an order, however upon arrival, I decided not to pickup.... Very sad because a nice Chinese plate would have been AMAZING! UPDATE: Order was placed at 11:35 PM, just now received a phone call at 2:22 PM saying my order was ready??? Wooooooow! And when the "cleanliness" of the place was mentioned, their only response was, "Well, I'm sorry you feel that way and hope you have a wonderful rest of your day!" . What a joke this place is. Other Chinese joint in town isn't much cleaner, so don't come to stay here and get a Chinese craving because from the looks of these places wouldn't be a good experience. Wish review could have been better. ‍

Authentic Orange Chicken......makes you kinda Hate Panda

Got turned away from the Mexican restaurant who closed early...we wandered up to a little Saigon restaurant and so happy we did. This little family owned restaurant had EXCELLENT food, our waitress Ember was super friendly, and funny, her father Nea (hope I spelled that right) also came out and chatted and had us chuckling a bit. Super nice family, super good food....will repeat. That Mexican restaurant just lost us forever as long as that chinese/Vietnamese place is open across the parking lot. Sooooooo good!

Small town, good visit. My husband ordered the general chicken while I had the orange chicken. His was ok but seemed sweet for general's chicken while mine was different from what I was expecting. The orange sauce was delicious but my chicken was like deep fried chicken thighs or something? It tasted okay but was incredibly difficult to eat and cut. The portion of white rice is spot on. The waitstaff was friendly and the place seemed pretty clean.

Chicken is still pink in won ton soup broth taste like hot water. Crab cheese won tons have no crab in them and the sesame chicken has no not even one sesame in it. And the topper of it all. No Chinese hot mustard and the guy tells me it's because Las Vegas NM people don't like it. Iv got pictures

Passing through Las Vegas, New Mexico? Here is your chance to try a local favorite. I arrived for an early dinner, about 5:30pm, so was one of only a few people there. I was promptly greeted and was told to sit anywhere. I was surprised at the size of the inside as the structure looks small from the front. There menu is quite extensive, offering several standards from a typical Chinese restaurant, as well as Vietnamese. They do not serve alcohol, but after 10 hours on the road, and with the NCAA March Madness finals starting soon, I just wanted a good meal. I asked what the special was and was notified that it was just sold out. Evidently it was very popular at lunch. I saw a very positive review of the Orange Chicken, so asked for that. It was sold out as well. Strike two. I asked for a starter of the vegetable spring rolls. They had Spring Rolls...good. But, no hot mustard. They did, however, have a tasty peanut sauce to accompany the spring rolls with which I was quite pleased. For my main, I decided to go with the Kung Pao Chicken. It was pretty good. I would have preferred more pow in the Pao, but it was still flavorful. While it didn't blow my socks off, the food is good, the atmosphere is interesting and the servers are friendly. I'd definitely give this another try the next time I'm passing through.

The service is always excellent, the food is always spot on. By far one of the best "fast food" Vietnamese restaurants in Las Vegas, NM.

This is a one-of-a-kind place, the Vietnamese fusion flavors are so delicious, the fresh herbs and vegetables pop with brightness alongside the perfectly prepared seafood and meats. We went for my husband's birthday and the Alkeme team made it an unforgettable evening. They gave him a free sparkling wine for his bday :) He ordered the sake pairing for the "sea" tasting menu, and wow, we've never tried sakes this innovative. You can tell the sakes were carefully selected, some more light, others more earthy, all of them excellent. I ordered the Sticky Business cocktail, and damn, it was amazing!! Their take on a tiki drink but less sweet, with a boozey foam and mango pearls. The service was wonderful. We got to talk to Chef Erica, which was very cool, and Vickie gave lovely descriptions of our dishes. They and our waitress made my husband's birthday so special. This restaurant in my opinion is James Beard and/or Michelin level dining. We loved everything about it. I highly recommend Alkeme, we'll never forget this special meal!

The crispy cod was well prepared and layered with flavor. The carrot soup was a little bland. The colossal shrimp and pork belly came on a bright, fresh, and somewhat messy bed of slaw and greens, but the dish needed a little more heat or sauce to bring everything together. The shrimp were also slightly overcooked. Service was slow and a bit fussy at the same time. The dining room is tight, which seems to make it difficult for servers to flow through the space efficiently, so that may explain some of the issues.

I went again today for a late lunch and enjoyed some aspects of the meal. For one, it was just me and two other tables who closed out right when I was walking in. I was quickly sat, and proceeded to have pretty slow service to start. Once a server finally came back around 5 minutes later, he brought some delicious spicy/sweet peanuts to start. Returned less than a minute later to take my order, then proceeded to have great service afterward.. let me start with the spicy baby cucumbers: pretty tasty and a large serving, however I didn't think they were that spicy. The chile oil used is mostly oily with some not so spicy Chiles used (that could just be my heat tolerance) but nonetheless, they were delicious. The hot tea was fresh and he brought it out with water, which I appreciated.. I was however slightly disappointed in the Dan Dan Noodles, I didn't take a picture just because it honestly was served not too appetizing or picture perfect like most of the previous reviews. Everything was mixed together, and the meat was all in the bottom under all of the noodles. The flavor was pretty good, but I didn't get the normal Szechuan flavor or spiciness that I've had in the past at other places. I do love the fresh noodles, but the overall dish was a little underwhelming. I would have liked it to be a little more presentable, along with more of a noteworthy flavor other than meaty broth with some chile oil (again more on the oily side not so much spice). Overall, the experience was decent and good service. I will come back to try something else and maybe it just wasn't a dish for me.

The goodness began with Naomi, who helped me fix an error in my reservation and get a table at a good time tonight. The goodness continued with our server Mitzi, who should be teaching graduate classes in hospitality in every big city. She was friendly without being overbearing, informative without being pedantic, subtle and gracious. Now, the food! My wife chose the vegetarian tasting menu and I had some of each dish: so very flavorful (a green salad with pears, a life-changing mushroom bisque [and I don't like mushrooms!], a chickpea croquette with pickled artichoke hearts and ratatouille, and a substitution of the lemon crepe for three yummy scoops of sorbet and gelato. I chose the scallops, perfectly cooked and moist, over couscous, and a dish of tasty sauteed baby spinach. A wonderful experience, and not overpriced, and everyone treated us sweetly. The musical soundtrack was swinging, and at a compassionate volume. Our first trip to Santa Fe, and we found a gem. Hooray! And thank you, Mitzi!

The interior is classy and very comfortable. We were seated at a nice comfy corner booth. The soft music in the background was soothing and just noticeable enough without being a distraction. We were served complimentary flutes of local sparking wine and a fresh baked bread basket and butter to start. We then ordered cocktails and three starters. First was a split plate of the endive smoked duck salad with a warm bacon vinegarette. Wow...this was nice and refreshing. This was followed by the crab dumplings with fresh corn and peas and lobster sauce. Delicious! The final small plate was seared foie gras on top of banana bread toast. This was very good. I miss foie gras. Unfortunately, it's banned in California. They had a 2023 Sea Smoke "Ten"Pi ot Noir on the wine list. This is one of the best Pinot Noirs produced in California and not easy to find. This was a no doubter and we ordered a bottle to pair with our entrees. My wife ordered their signature elk tenderloin for redemption because the restaurant the night before failed at executing this. I ordered the tomahawk pork chop. This was cooked to perfection with a nice thin crust on the outside and a perfect very light pink juicy center. We ordered a side of brocolini that was pan roasted with shallots and butter. Everything was very good and Michelin grade in our opinion. Lastly we ended the evening and split the tiramasu type of desert. My wife had the expresso martini and I had an 18 year old Glen Morangie scotch neat. The service was excellent and worth the splurge. This is a must when visiting Santa Fe.
