This has been my favorite Mexican restaurant since the early 2000s and continues to be. The food is the best. I have even converted my boyfriend, who now asks if we can go here. From the wait staff, to the great Top Shelf margaritas, to the big selection of Tex-Mex dishes this place does everything well and at reasonable prices. Four business associates and I went here for a second time and were all pleased with our selections. We shared an appetizer of Stuffed Jalapenos, they are large and come out hot! The chips and red salsas are delish but a warning the dark red one is hot. I had a Chile Relleno plate with beef brisket filling, rice and refried beans and a side order of a Puffed Meat Taco. The only Mexican restaurant ahead of its time. We were there over 17 years ago for the first time.The food there is still food and I pay less without my ex wife... The first Mexican restaurant to go totally No Smoking in DeSoto without city requiring...now Jan 1,2016..all places are REQUIRED to be smoke free. The restaurant is clean, service fabulous, QC on every dish is good & Erma is wonderful. Management is friendly and it's always fun place to visit. They take care of everything and the atmosphere is festive with tv's for the sports fans...they're always on! Thanks Irene for being the first in DeSoto to go No Smoking so my big kid can eat with y'all and our wait staff can stay healthy. See you soon...Keep up the good work!! read more

Save your money! I have been passing by this restaurant for decades and I really wish that I'd kept passing by it last night. The service was fine but the food was terribly disappointing. I have never been to a Mexican restaurant that served what tasted like cheap canned cheese. The enchiladas were covered in that mess. It was awful. I paid $6.50 for a margarita that tasted like strawberry syrup and water and was served in a very small wine glass. The food was so overpriced, especially for what they are serving. I'm willing to bet that someone took over the business and is pinching pennies by serving sub par food for ridiculous prices. We should have picked up on the fact that there was hardly anyone in there. Never ever again!!! read more

I have been coming here since I was a kid, ordering chicken nuggets, then flautas as I grew older, and now I always get their excellent Sour Cream Enchiladas dish. My ex-girlfriend says she didn't ever like Mexican food that much until she had that plate herself, and craves it all the time now, apparently! I've also had their Carne Asada with ... whatever the spicy version of it is called, haha, and it is also excellent. So is their Ojeda's Mexican Dinner. The service is always top-notch and food gets out fast. Some say it's on the pricey side, but to me it's a fair asking price for the best Mexican food near me, if not the best Mexican food I've had. read more

they staff is VERY RUDE. Twice they have charged me 40% tip when I authorized 20%. they are money hungry and don't care about their customers. I called to get the double tip issue resolved and the "manager" never apologized instead she hung up on. Their food is not the best and there are tons of other Mexican Restaurants to eat at. I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK. I've advise all my family friends that live around there about their shady tip practices. read more

i would love to give this place five stars but the cashier and hostess were so unfriendly. i called in an order and the lady was ready to hang up on me so she can get back to what she was doing. plenty of parking. the cashier was also so put off by helping me get my order and pay that i'm hesitant to go back. the food was excellent though. read more

Best Telmex anywhere. Usually best service but go there enough to know the servers who don't give good service are gone in a short time. Decades of eating here and never bad food or drinks. Travel a lot and NEVER want to eat at a Mexican restaurant it always pales in comparison. Always bring out of Townes here and when my kids come home for a visit this is a must for lunch or dinner at least once while they are here. Have tried most everything on the menu all great. They will make whatever you want how you want it and always a lent menu. Don't see that anywhere else. read more

My Aunt and Uncle hosted their 25th Wedding Anniversary in the banquet room of Ojeda's this past Saturday. They allowed us to decorate to our pleasing. The staff was extraordinary!!! They assisted wherever help was needed! The manager David has a great team on his side! It started promptly at six! Their projector and sound system gave us no issues at all! The buffet was amazing and fresh! Chicken and beef enchiladas, steak and chicken fajitas, rice and beans, with all the fixins'! The drinks were outstanding and greatly priced for the amount of alcohol consumed! They worked promptly and continued refills of the food! They also made sure that the tables were clear of empty plates. They made the closing of the celebration an easy clean-up, which helped out my Margarita-filled family. Everyone applauded the wait staff, they were truly the core of the celebration. They allowed everything to run as smoothly as it did. Super Awesome!!! read more

Today I had a horrible experience at Ojedas. Normally when we have come here the food is great. Today we got there and we were seated. Once seated it took a god while for someone to come give us chips/salsa. After about 5 minutes a waiter took our drink order (didn't seem to happy) and we got the drinks after a while. We sat there for about 10 minutes before someone came to take our order for food. I noticed that our waiter was also waiting on a large group(private party) and thought maybe that was causing the delay. Once we ordered our food we waited another 20 minutes maybe more and we still had no food. I decided to ask a lady what was going on and if she could check on our food. I must admit at this point my family was a little irritated as was I . She said she would check and see what was going on. Before she left I told her " if the food isn't ready then we don't want it. We have waited well over 30 minutes at this point. " her reply was " ok I'll cancel it". First of all her reply shocked me. No apology for the delay and the way she handled it was ridiculous. Customer service here was terrible. We paid for the drinks and salsa. She didn't once try to fix the problem. I understand our waiter was overwhelmed with the large group I just don't understand why no one else bothered to check on our table. Don't think we will visit this place again after she handled the situation the way she did. read more

Good little place. Was going to give it 3 stars b/c I wasn't thinking that it should come up on yelp over 4 stars. But, what the hell, I think it's a solid 3.5 or so. In town on business and not impressed at all with the west end joints. So, headed south due to yelp and my hotel in desoto. Service very fast and all servers extremely pleasant. They get a solid 4. My chicken verde was good / tasty, but not great (give it a 3.) Margarita worst of the breed (tasted like it came straight outta the can), but I did drink the whole thing (it was 106 outside, though.) Flan awesome! Fairly affordable eats, too. Anyway, my two cents. You can eat here and not be disappointed, I think. read more

I won't say it's the best Mexican restaurant in the area, because I've never found a Mexican restaurant that's great at everything, but I end up eating at Ojeda's in Desoto more than all other Mexican restaurants combined. They have the best refried beans I've ever had anywhere. You can taste the bacon fat in them, which gives them an incredibly better flavor than the versions made with lard that most restaurants serve. The chicken enchiladas de mole are my favorite, but mole in general is something that you either like or you don't, and it might not appeal to everyone. Instead of the rings of jalapeno that most restaurants use, they give big slices with most of the seeds missing. You can eat a bigger piece that way, and get a lot more of the jalapeno flavor for the same amount of heat. The tortilla soup is my wife's favorite, and the chicken breast with a sour cream sauce is also a winner. They have great taco salads, and my son loves their chili cheese and beef burritos. The chile rellenos are decent, but there are other places that have better so I rarely order them. The service is always excellent, and the prices are quite reasonable. I've been eating here for years, and will continue to as long as the quality stays as high as it is. read more
