Fajitas and good times! I saw this place initially advertised on facebook with their $1.99 margarita's. I mean ONLY $1.99?! Decided to go here for lunch since it wasn't that far from me. Definitely a hole in the wall GEM. So many specials and the prices are very reasonable from breakfast-lunch-dinner. They start you off with chips, queso and salsa. One of my first times seeing 'queso' as a dish along with salsa. Usually it's an extra charge. I had the mango margarita which was pretty good! Happy Hour is from 2-10p Monday-Thursday, and lunch specials are served ALL DAY! I had the Tuesday special which was Trio Fajitas (beef, shrimp, chicken) with beans and rice - only $14.75. The meat was very flavorful but wasn't a big fan of the refried beans. Plenty of food, especially for the price. The staff was kind, explained the specials without asking and gave their suggestions. Had a great dinner here on Thurs nt Their special was Beef fajitas. Had all the sides and can choose corn or flour tortillas. Served with chips and salsa, and even queso as well. Was really delicious for the price. I would say it would be a "hole in the wall "place. But those are the best places to eat. They do have booths and tables to handle larger parties. Don't expect to have a fancy decor, but it is clean and staff is very friendly. Our server was very attentive to our needs making sure we had enough of everything including our drinks. Hands down the best menudo I've ever had. (And any time there is menudo on the menu, it's what I order! So, yes, I know my menudo!) I could have eaten the entire bowl without the condiments, but of course I added the onions, cilantro, jalapeño and oregano as traditional to do so. Sluuuuurp! The waitress was first very attentive. The food was bland, flavorless, and probably the worst Tex Mex I've ever had in life. The queso was watered down, thin, and bland. The salsa and chips were ok. I ordered the carne asada fries. They were pictured with at least cheddar cheese, guacamole, and carne asada. Avoid this order. I was told the cook fried the fries, poured on the thin watery queso all over them, put some kind of white cheese over the queso AND MICROWAVED THE FRIES!!!!' MICROWAVED FRIES AT A RESTAURANT?!? It came to our table as a giant watery queso plate of hot but mushy fries with some random cheese on top (not the cheddar it was pictured as). I initially thought the fries were precooked and held in some sort of warmer. My mom had the Chilli Relleno which was also flavorless and drowned in that awful watery queso. Refried beans were too salty. The rice tasted like no spices were invited to their party either. If I could give this restaurant zero stars for food, I would. Our meals were incredibly shoddy, uninspired, and too many shortcuts and or mistakes happened with its ingredients and preparation. I am not trying to be mean in any way, they could use a different cook. The portion sizes are very large which is a nice thought. The prices are reasonable. Our waitresses were great. The food was downright abysmal. I did let the waitress know that my food was not good when she came back to check on us after it was dropped off. When we were checking out and the woman at the register asked us how it was, I explained in detail the disappointment with the quality and preparation with the food. Her response was, basically, that's how we make it and she tried to tell me that I said the food was fine when the waitress asked how the meal was. I told her I spoke to our waitress about the concerns with the food. The waitress just awkwardly said ok. The woman at the register tried to tell me I said the food was fine. I reiterated that no I definitely spoke to the waitress about the poor quality of the food. I was paying for a meal, leaving a tip, but I wanted to leave honest feedback as well. I wasn't rude. The woman at the register wasn't rude. However, she did seem a bit defensive about the lack of quality of food and just brushed off what I said our experience was which also was disappointing. We won't ever be back. I cannot stress enough how this is the worst Tex-Mex I've ever had. Incidentally, this is also the worst restaurant I've ever dined at in the city. I hope their food improves. I tipped our waitress 20 % because times are hard for everyone. I can't get over the fact that they tried to serve me microwaved food, switched out pictured ingredients for their meals, watered down the queso and drowned my meal in it, over cooked the carne asada making it difficult to chew, the guacamole was fresh but also flavorless, my companions meal was also a disappointment. This is our new go to local modestly priced restaurant. There are a few negatives. They can be outrageously packed on Sundays. They're also a family run restaurant and when they are busy, dirty dishes can pile up on tables, they can run out of things and it may take longer for some of the more labor intensive items to make it to your table. I've tried to order Pork Guiso Stew in a Tomatillo Sauce three times now and they are always out! I finally asked and found out that people order it for breakfast! The positives, however, are many. They are always generous, friendly and flexible. From luncheon on, if you want them, they offer a very good complimentary small queso and a totally delicious warm salsa. They also have a good salsa fresca and green salsa. Their prices are not high for anything and their portions are more than adequate. They have daily, tri-daily and weekly specials and they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner Ameri-Mex! The food has always been good, so far. We've had breakfast once and several other meals now. My enchiladas were all good - beef, cheese and chicken. So were the rice and beans and each time it was just a $5.99 special. My husband's fajitas and chunked beef fajita tacos were tender and so was my very thin carne asada. His fried catfish special for $7.99 - 5 pieces - was juicy, hot and crisp. He asked for flour tortillas and made tacos! He enjoyed his grilled fish fillets just as much. Plenty of terrific salsa every time! The restaurant is split in half with two large dining rooms. One side is all tables, the other tables and booths. The bathrooms are clean. I've never seen them not clean, thankfully. There's a fairly large private parking lot. La Toska also has a punch card. It lasts for 10 punched meals × 3 times = 3 free meals. You get your free meal after each 10th meal! I haven't photographed all of our meals. It looks like I never captured any of the enchiladas; but they were well filled. It looks and smells so good, we start eating and then, uh-oh! Oh, well. read more

Pretty disappointed, we buy $29 of food and end up with $46? I just don't know how that works. I thought the food was okay and would have probably went 3 but I feel like I got extremely overcharged. I have over 550 reviews and it's very rare I complain about the price but this one was so bad. With the tip it was almost double the amount I expected. This place has everything on the menu, but we are sticking with the Mexican food. We got chips and hot sauce and queso. It is good. It is a little difficult to find but you won't get lost.
