First off, on arrival, my group (of 8), the staff was made aware of a severe allergy to sesame, the first item brought out, was covered in sesame seeds. Secondly, I did not receive most of my ordered items, had to re-order and still waited an extremely long time for my food. Waitress did not offer to refill drinks or come by to check on us unless we requested them. Upon paying, I was made aware that I had to tip a minimum of 15% because we were a group of 8 people. Normally this would be no issue, except, I did NOT receive adequate service deserving of a 15% tip. Not even close. But was not given a choice nor did they offer to waive the mandatory 15% tip for my inconvenience and the lack of service. I should not be required to tip for a service I did NOT receive! read more

Went twice in one day for the lunch and supper. Food was great, loved the calamari rolls! Adult all-you-can-eat supper is 35$, while lunch is 25$ but there are a few things missing from the menu, such as extra desserts, mozza sticks and specialty rolls. All is done through an iPad, and once you click order, the food comes out in a few minutes, piping hot. The people giving you your food are also super polite! It's really quiet, with booths suited for seating up to 2-8 people. The style is black and modern and looks really clean! My brother is treating us to an AYCE sushi restaurant in Sudbury called Okinawa Sushi. It was best to arrive once the doors open at 11:30am Saturday since I'm driving back to Toronto afterwards. We ordered from a tablet device by selecting treats and quantity requested before submitting the order(s). Our delicious food was served piping hot and staff came back to our booth just enough times to check if we wanted refills of our green tea plus take away our empty dishes. In recent years, sushi places have popped up all over Sudbury. Okinawa Sushi is certainly a stand-out restaurant that is worth a visit when sushi is on your mind! I've frequented this joint several times, both when the restaurant was quiet and busy. The service is quite speedy regardless, which is a plus. Servers are attentive, visiting quite regularly to take orders and offer refills. Sometimes, during quieter times, some of the servers stand around just watching you, which can make you a bit uncomfortable if that kind of behaviour bothers you. Okinawa Sushi is predominantly an All You Can Eat restaurant. You're given a menu that features a variety of items that are sure to please (including some Thai and Chinese options). Each item has a corresponding number. To order, you fill out a little sheet - simply write the menu item number and the quantity you want of it. It's easy to get carried away and order a bunch of food right off the bat, but be warned: you're charged for leftovers. You can continue ordering as you progress through your meal, so keep that in mind. I will add pictures of the menu (including prices) in this review so that you can see what's offered. The food is incredibly tasty! My friends who are sushi aficionados cannot get enough of it, and Okinawa Sushi has become our go-to place for sushi whenever we get a hankering for it. Sudbury is starting to get a lot of different restaurants, as a city that loves to eat out it was only a natural evolution. Okinawa Sushi is an all you can eat Sushi bar, the place looks great on the inside, it was the old Peeking Gazebo, which is no more. Out of the two choices now for All you can eat sushi in town this one most certainly is the best. They have great service, servers that can actually understand what you are saying, I found at the other all you can eat Sushi the servers had limited English skills. The food was great, lots of vegetarian options and Dinner on a weekend day was $21.99, weekends are the most expensive, Lunch and during the week Dinner are a little cheaper. If you are visiting Sudbury and you are in the mood for Sushi and you are close to the South End, then I would highly recommend that you go here. The only thing that this "sushi" restaurant could have done to make this a worse experience would be if they kicked me in the crotch while I choked down their terrible food. If Okinawa Sushi was located anywhere outside of Sudbury then it would have been shut down years ago. The food is near flavourless, the wasabi was rancid Miracle Whip with Green Dye #6, I think the sake was just rubbing alcohol, and they had the worst service EVER. The service was crappy. They didn't come to our table once until about 15 minutes after we got there (even though the place was practically empty). The food was good - not great - and and the all you can eat style threw me off guard. It was $24 per adult. It seems like a large amount of money for small portions, average food, and bad service. The Good: The lunch price is great and all-you-can-eat! The decor is decent and the restaurant is clean. They do not charge for soy sauce. The Bad: The servers are usually prompt but extremely rude. Don't expect basic pleasantries or even an audible greeting. However, this is pretty standard at cheap all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants. The menu items are also very uneven and it can be a risk to stray away from the maki. The Ugly: The quality of the food is deplorable. While the maki can be choked down and will seem 'good' to uninitiated sushi eaters, it is actually quite bad. The rice is often old and chewy, and you are lucky if the fish is actually fresh. The toppings are typically mayonnaise based and the wasabi old. I have never been brave enough to try their ginger, so I cannot comment on that. Furthermore, the maki rolls tend to be poorly rolled at best and often over-stuffed with rice (likely to fill you up faster). If tempura flakes are used on top of the maki, it is often burned. The tempura is also over-battered and extremely greasy. Of the dozen or so times I have eaten here (usually due to the choice of friends), I have had food poisoning twice. I hope I never got worms. Avoid eating here at any cost! Sapporo is the only choice for decent sushi in Sudbury. read more

Hats off to these guys for being willing and able to accommodate a group of about 30 people with maybe an hour's notice! For having that many people come in at once, the service was amazingly quick, and the sushi was surprisingly good! Honestly I wasn't expecting much in Sudbury, but I was pleasantly surprised. Their tempura is very good as well. The only possible complaint I can think of is that since the menu items have no descriptions, some vegetarians in the group ordered things that sounded meat-free from their names, but turned out not to be--for example, the "cheese" roll was what I'd usually call a Philadelphia roll with salmon and cream cheese. However, with so many of us it was easy to pass these things around the table to ensure they were eaten. If I ever find myself back in Sudbury I'll definitely stop by here again! read more

Wow, I had to stop eating my Pad Thai to write this review. The only thing that makes this close to Pad Thai is that it has rice noodles and sprouts. There's no peanuts, no lime.lemon, no fish sauce (that i can tell), no red pepper and no egg. And for some reason there's yellow onions in here. I paid $11 for some noodles and sprouts, probably worth $1. I love Pad Thai and I"m really disappoined. I suppose that's what you get when you combine all Asian cuisines into the same restaurant, assuming the Canadian can't tell the difference between Chinese, Japanese, and Thai. A really good AYCE place. Fish quality is good, rolls are full, lots of "other" items to choose from (Chinese, Thai, etc.). Lunch is relatively cheap at around $12. Another sushi restaurant for sudbury! Owned by a young asian couple from toronto, they are doing a good job but they really should learn from competition. Sapporo Ichiban has by far the best Chirashi dish in town with "substance" not flimsy and few pieces of fish that look pathetic at Okinawa. Their teriyaki dishes have a lot more meat--but where is the vegetables besides bean sprouts? The maki, negri and temakis are all lacking.... Overall good efforts but presentation and the wow factor are definitely lacking. read more

On Saturday, 19th September 2015, my wife and I accompanied by our daughter and son-in-law went to your Regent Street location. We were told there were not four seats available at the time, that we would have to wait about ten minutes. While we were sitting, waiting for over 10 minutes during which time no one left the restaurant, someone came in asking for a table for five, they were immediately brought in. As far as the math I learned, four is less than five; therefore there had been room for us to be seated. When I inquired, I was told that the new customers were seated at a table for six. That table would have easily accommodated the four of us. The restaurant gained one customer, but you lost four in the process, feeling very insulted, we left. We will not be going there any more. By the way this used to be our favourite sushi place in town. You lost our business that day and for a long long time to come. My daughter went there last week. They arrived one hour before closing, figuring they could have lots of time for the all-you-can-eat sushi. To say the wait stuff was un-enthused would be an understatement. When my daughter sat down, she noticed a dead ant in one of the dishes on the table. This was removed by the server with no comment. The staff was rude and impatient with them the entire time and didn't serve half of what they had ordered. To top it off, they saw a mouse running across the floor. When notified of that, the staff feigned concern but did nothing. They received no discount or apology. For what is middling food at best, what else do you need to know about this dump? read more
