I truly don't know what people are complaining so much about this place. It is a great little restaurant. Cleanliness: The place is super clean. Even the bathrooms smell good and are spotless. To me this is a big plus. Food: The fish was fresh / delicious and the portions were substantial. The spicy rolls are extra spicy - however - we like it like that. If you aren't a fan of a lot of spice you might want to ask them to tone it down. The dishes were delivered promptly and with a continues flow. The rice was perfect sushi rice! A++++ for that! Staff: The young woman who took care of us was very cordial and pleasant. She was attentive to our needs and didn't leave us hanging when we needed to order more. This is an all you can eat sushi place, the food is great, after you place your first order it can be a challenge to get the attention of one of the servers, but when you do they are more than happy to help. It can get busy here on weekends at dinner time. Lunch is cheaper than dinner and the lunch menu lacks a few things that the dinner menu has, but if you are vegetarian you have nothing to worry about as all items that are on the dinner menu are available on the lunch menu. read more

The sushi is mediocre, but edible. I did not particularly enjoy anything I ate. The Ugly: The service is the worst I have ever seen at any restaurant. Completely unacceptable. The dozen or so servers seemed generally confused and had no table assignment. Most were outright rude and completely inattentive. The experience reached a crescendo when we attempted to pay for our bills. One of my fellow diners did not order or eat anything, yet they tried to charge him anyway. Our attempt to correct this problem resulted in a shouting match with our waiter, and eventually the manager. After about five minutes of this they finally relented and we were able to leave. My wife and I have been supporters of Osaka Sushi for many years now. Despite continuing to decline service and quality over time, our last experience there will be just that. A birthday gathering brought us and many new potential patrons to Osaka Sushi and the party was met with incomplete, incorrect and embarrassing in quality orders. One party goer had a shard of plastic in her food. When the issues were brought up, staff stated that they wouldn't discount anything. I stated that I was willing to pay for one AYCE meal and the order of rolls that my part of the party ate. I was not paying for two AYCE meals when only one actually ate more than a single dish. Still refusing, the staff called the owner back to the restaurant. The owner walked in asking who "had the f-ing" problem followed by threats of calling the police for "stealing" food, laughing in the face of other complainants in our party, resorting to name calling, publicly belitting his employees with vulgar slurs, and accusing innocent bystanders of being involved. One of my favourite places to go with friends, family or on dates with my boyfriend! Service can be iffy depending on who's working or how busy they are, but you can tell they're trying their best. Food is always great, just be sure to check your menu for any marks on other options just in case they take it as you would like that order (you will pay extra for wasted or left over food). Some people before you may have marked a page and put it back if they changed their minds. I personally find the prices very reasonable for an All-You-Can-Eat Sushi place, especially per person. I've been to other locations for sushi in Sudbury (that are "all you can eat" if you pay extra) and their prices are too high for amateur tasting and looking food, or they are made incorrectly. For a place named Wasabi you would think that the actual wasabi would be good but sadly not the case. It was chalky and not even spicy. The tempera shrimp was mostly batter while the actual shrimp was the width of a pencil. The server didn't even give us tempera sauce. The cheese wontons we're not your typical cheese wonton.. inside was straight mozzarella cheese. None of the spring rolls or gyoza had dipping sauce. This was perhaps the worst sushi restaurant that we've ever been to and we've been to a lot. The service was 100% indifferent. We ordered from the takeout menu, otherwise it's AYCE. The food was terrible with the exception of the dynamite rolls and chicken katsu udon which were passable. My husband got the salmon teriyaki bento. It's served in bits and pieces with the salmon (the size of two fingers and about 1cm thin) and rice coming first. I ordered the sushi bento A. Neither bentos were served the cucumber or salmon rolls and we were told that there was no more to come. Honestly, after experiencing the quality of food thus far, we were relieved. Sometimes I come and have an amazing meal, other times it's comically bad and I can tell it's a different chef. The latest time I went, the Philadelphia Rolls had so much cream cheese I should've asked for bagel, and the shrimp wasn't de-vined. But the salmon sashimi was fresh and 10/10 tasty. read more

Osaka, while currently the best option for cheap sushi in sudbury, is still an absolutely garbage restaurant. If this were in any other location it would be unacceptable. service: This is an all you can eat restaurant. That means they're trying to fill you up on the cheapest food possible. Let's go over some of the ways they do that. - One guy runs around with a pitcher of presumably tap water instantly topping off anyone who's even sipped their drink. - Fatty or otherwise filling foods are applied liberally to whatever they can on the menu. (mayo, "crispy", cream cheese for Philly roll) This is especially true of the crispy bits of presumably tempura batter. I've been eating sushi for a while, and had made it my goal to try everything on the menu. A LOT of stuff has this garbage on it. It doesn't taste good, the texture is trash, and it fills you with inexpensive garbage-food. - Assuming you're able to avoid the crispy, perhaps you've ordered something worthwhile like for instance salmon nigiri. Either that sushi won't arrive at your table or it'll take longer than it should to get there. I'm guessing the chefs are told to "forget" some of the more expensive things that people order. From the perspective of someone eating dinner this isn't a problem since it's all you can eat, so you dont end up thinking about it and end up eating 40 pieces of cucumber roll (or value equivalent). I've tested this in a few ways, it's a real thing. - You get a bunch of shit you didn't order but that's semi typical of this sort of restaurant and they're not mean about you sending it back. Let's talk about the food. sashimi : probably low quality but I haven't had high quality so I can hardly vouche for the quality of the fish itself. nigiri : Sushi rice lacks flavor, fish is cut far too thick (funny considering how stingy they are about it), Wasabi isn't applied to the underside of the fish as is customary in half decent sushi. maki : Generally poorly constructed and crispy en masse in 60% of the rolls. Again I'll mention that the rice lacks flavor. It's an important component to think about considering sushi is, at the end of the day, mostly comprised of rice. Honestly I'd love to suggest no one give these people business, but I recognize there's few alternatives without spending an unreasonable amount of money. I have been coming here for years , the sushi is amazing, the owners are very nice , and generally it is a very good atmosphere to bring both clientele and friends, however the staff themselves that are not the owners are much to be desired as they miss when drinks are needed and are rude when push comes to shove and there is a disagreement. Osaka Sushi is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is make fresh as you order and not dried out like most all you can eat buffets. The price per person is very reasonable considering the types of dishes you have to choose from. The crab sushi is to die for. I agree with Vikas I in regards to service. One must also remember that this is a very popular restaurant and there may be a delay for service. I did notice a separate room and I believe you can book in advance. I would highly recommend that if you have a large party, you may want to call in advance and see if that room is available. My overall feelings towards this restaurant is favorable. read more

The staff sit around and chit chat if it is slow or ignore you if it is busy. I went once with my sister and one of the male servers for some reason decided he didn't like my sister. He wouldn't take an order from her would only talk to me, treated her like crap and me like an angel for no reason what so ever! It has gotten worse now that they've switched to a paper ordering system where you write down what you want. We never seem to get the right things anymore and somehow it has made the staff even less attentive and lazy. This place can get extremely busy in a matter of minutes during lunch and dinner hours. This is because the food is great and the price cannot be beat. The service could be improved upon, but understand that they are not always super busy. Additional staff may be a waste and raise prices. If you are new to sushi, try this place at lunch, keep a menu close by and order small amounts. You'll find something you love. I will however rate this a 3 out of 5 only because of the "chicken balls" I ordered on take-out one time. They were pieces of chicken torn from the bird and deep fried in batter till they were solid stringy bits of rock. But maybe the Japanese are not well known for chicken balls for a reason. I visit this restaurant with my boyfriend frequently. Atleast once every month and sometimes it's ok and sometimes it's not. Their is no consistency here when it comes to the food or the service. It's either a hit or a miss. When the owner is around everything is fine. I went to this restaurant on April 5th (yesterday) and I still can't believe how terrible the service was and the food. The rolls were poorly put together and falling apart and the meat was as if it was put in a microwave to heat up. The staff were giggling and fooling around the entire time we were there. We were told that "last call" was at 845pm and the restaurant closed at 10 pm that day. You can tell the staff were just wanting to get out. My boyfriend ordered a roll with mango in it and I ordered a mango salad for "last call". The server came back up to us and told us they were out of mango so they couldn't make the roll with mango on it but then 5 minutes later came back with a mango salad. Just didn't make sense. Absolutely terrible food and service and makes me never want to go back after yesterday. read more
