And at the same time I was feeling frustrated and upset with my current health situation. I was seeing practitioners and even specialist and getting no answers. So, I decided to go and make an appointment with Dr. M and have been seeing her for over a year and a half now. She is amazing! Her and her assistant Sunny are warm and welcoming and make you truly feel like you are important to them. You feel like you are being heard and every ailment matters. Not only do you feel like you are finally being understood by a knowledgable professional, Dr. Maraio spends a good amount of time with you finding the root causes. She educates you and helps you have a better grasp on what your body is going through and how to alleviate the pain and stressors. For the first time I finally understood what my body and mind needed and how to take important steps towards optimal health. I completely contribute it to Dr. M and her guidance and vast knowledge. Dr. Maraio has not only been a doctor diagnosing me, but a mentor and a support system that has completely changed my life. If you are looking for answers or just better health, I highly recommend Dr. Maraio (trust me- I recommend her to everyone I come in contact with that just doesn't feel 'right' anymore). For example, she told me at my last appointment that I could run my labs whenever I wanted and then only make a follow-up appointment if something turned up. Well, something did turn up. When I contacted her office, I got a passive-aggressive reply saying that I didn't make an appointment to review the labs before running them. I did just what she told me to do! When I mentioned this, I was all but told that I was lying and she would never have said that. It's not the first time this has happened, but I've let it go previously. Everybody forgets things sometimes. It's a real problem though when you start accusing other people of making things up because you don't remember what you said.

Mine was also a routine annual visit for the first time with them and they used CPT 99203 code, From my understanding, is typically used for a problem-focused new patient visit involving low-complexity medical decision-making. However, my appointment was scheduled and conducted as a preventive annual check-up, and I did not seek care for any specific medical concerns. I am following up with them lets see how it goes. Update- I called the billing department, waited 30 min to get connected, finally chose the option to call back. Its been 3 days to hear back from them. Update - still awaiting for their review. I am not going to continue with Scripts. Terrible experience. I never had to deal with these type of issues with my previous providers. They said they would send in the prescription for her inhaler and other medication. When we got to the Rite Aid to pick up her medication on a Friday evening, we found the Rite Aid was permanently closed. Oh no.... this was bad. But I messaged this clinic here on Yelp, this very page, and the next morning, Saturday morning, my wife got a phone call directly from someone who was able to resend her meds to a CVS less than 5 minutes from our house!!! Wow! Amazing. We were so worried we wouldn't be able to get her medicine until the next day they were open....5 days later....but because they reached out to us on a Saturday, we were able to get the meds only a day or two later!! The clinic itself is run on donations. They can do physicals, give vaccines, prescribe medications, have blood labs drawn, do screenings of all sorts of other services (Pap, suture/staple removal, EKG, mental health, TB testing, diabetes education and supplies, urinalysis, drug testing for specific organizations, strep a testing, etc.), and provide plenty of usually specialized and costly healthcare. They have five clinics across Escondido, Ocean Beach, North Park, and Carlsbad. They also partner to provide care for other refugee and human trafficking organizations. At the start of each academic semester, there is a new crop of students running the joint and it can get a bit lengthy of a wait, but the care is real, high quality, and free. This Escondido clinic is open most Tuesdays at 1pm, taking their last patient at 6pm, and Thursdays at 8am, taking their last patient at 12pm. Appointments are available but walk ins are also taken on a first come, first served basis.

First was my big Maine coon cat who was having severe kidney issues. Dr. Bowdre and staff were so thoughtful and kind and with all of their recommendations he is still thriving today. About 10 days ago my 16-year-old rescue Yorkie was failing quickly. I'll spare you the details. I was treated kindly and respectfully at a time where I was truly heartbroken. The next day I brought her in and held her to the very end. I miss her a lot, and the other dogs mourned her. But what happened before all of that was what I want you to know. The vet-tech came in with a little silver platter. On it with a tongue, depressor coated in cheese-wiz and three Hershey's kisses. She had not eaten in three days, however, she lifted her little head and enjoyed her final treats. Chocolate, you say? Something I would've never given her, however, I figured this was her Thelma and Louise moment. That act of kindness and a little bit of a chuckle still warms my heart.
