What a beautiful name and vineyard. We were visiting Seattle and went to this vineyard and it didn't disappoint. We were lucky to go there on a Sunday where they had lots of vendors and it was such a fun but also peaceful few hours. We got a cheesebox and it was a full packaged cheese with crackers and knife. We were lucky enough to visit this little winery during the local lavender festival, which meant we not only got access to the beautiful setting but also some lovely local vendors. We had a wonderful time. Our only criticism (if you can even call it that) is that the driveway leading into the winery is incredibly narrow, not enough room for two cars to pass. Love supporting local wineries and the charm of this place has got me feeling great about Washington Wines. Came in on a dreary January day and still felt the warmth of the atmosphere and of course, really great wine tasting. The space is definitely very homey feeling and I would love to see what it is like during the summer months. Wine tasting service was pretty standard with pours for both my partner and I coming in premeasured carafes. Easy to pour and anytime we needed something, the server was available at the front to answer any questions or give us some information about the wines. I will be back again to check out the live music events that are supposed to roll through on Friday Evenings. My family loves this local and charming winery. Hidden in such a beautiful location on the Kitsap peninsula, the vineyard offers a good collection of wines by glass, bottle or tasting purchases. They invite live bands to play in the vineyard in the summer and everyone brings their lawn chairs and enjoys live music and local wines. I'll be honest with you, I didn't even know there was a town called Olalla. I foolishly learned this when we visited the Olalla Vineyard & Winery and asked what the name meant. Ohhh, it's the name of the town we're in. Goootttccchhaaa. My boyfriend and I were taking the long route back home from the Olympic peninsula, so journeyed over down south to Kitsap County and saw that Olalla Winery was at the next exit. He called to ask if they were open, and surely they were for 30 more minutes. We drove over and ended up being the last ones to leave the vineyard and winery. Once you turn into where Olalla Winery is, you can see the vineyard off a back road. The A-frame signs really helped us find this hidden gem. Parking was spacious enough right out front of the tasting room. Dogs are welcomed here! We did a flight and after the owner asked us what kind of wines we preferred, she recommended the barbera, which is a bold red wine. We bought a bottle of that, where the owner showed us around the vineyard and area, inviting us to hang out, even though they were closing shop. The barbera wine was solid. A bold red wine at that, it's definitely one I'd recommend checking out if you're a red wine drinker. Yet, they have a good selection of different wines; something for everyone. They also offer charcuterie plates. The vineyard and space was beautiful. You can tell they do events here, including weddings. The owners were the friendliest people. We ended up chatting with them for awhile, and they didn't seem to be bothered by us staying way over closing time. This place is proof that hidden gems exist right in your own "backyard." Tucked away in a serene area, this winery is the perfect little getaway for a day date (with your significant other or some friends). There are multiple places to sit, and the tasting are wonderful. My husband and I each ordered a flight and chose to sit indoors because of the heat (last week was intense here in WA). We enjoyed the rosé so much we got a bottle to go. I mentioned wanting to take home bottle of the blackberry but wasn't quite sure. The wonderful woman working in the tasting room (apologies for not remembering your name because you were awesome!) gave me a sample. Fun to have a winery in Olalla. We went on a weekend. Not too busy when we arrived but got packed in the afternoon. The grounds are pretty. The wine was just ok. They allow children which took away from it being relaxing because they were kicking balls around and loud. We felt like it was a public park. They also allow dogs inside and out. With them going to the bathroom on the lawn ~ we didn't want to walk the vineyard. Overall it was ok but disappointing. read more

What a great place for date night! My love and I throughly enjoyed the live music (sounds like deloris, always great!) the wine was supper yummy and their picnic baskets are so fun. We shared three bottles of their reds. Each different bit each delicious all on their own. We also had the picnic basket with smoked salmon, smoked cheeses and crackers. It was the perfect mix with the wine. And truly, you can't beat the setting. It's cozy but open. The lawn is gorgeous and you can't get a bad view from any place. Lovely. Everyone we encountered were welcoming, helpful and super sweet. We stopped by on a whim and were unaware that there was an event going on. Nevertheless the staff stopped what they were doing to take care of us. They showed us to a beautiful shady spot where we took our time, sipping wine and taking in the lovely surroundings. We purchased one of the snack packages and, though predictably pricey, the cheese, crackers and sausage was a perfect accompaniment to some surprisingly good wine. Surprising, because we had heard from friends that the wine selection was 'meh' and the real draw was the bucolic setting. Not our experience! The wine was solid - both reds and whites - so much so that we bought two bottles each of the Pinot grid and Malbec. We were out on a long drive and noticed this winery and thought it was a good idea to try it out. It was our first time visit and we advised at the time of the tasting, the odd thing was that we were asked to get out our camera and take a picture of the wine list so that we could follow along. I'd never not had a tasting without the explanation of the varietals I was tasting; especially on a first time visit. Not the wine I was expecting to find in Olalla, WA. Amazing whites and big reds. I have been hearing people saying a bunch of good things about the new owners of Olalla winery. People love their wines, the live music they have on select days and just overall quaintness of the place. It is not your typically Woodinville wine stop, it is out in the middle of nowhere, but you would not think that when you walk into the tasting room, small, but well decorated with extremely friendly owners and staff. We truly love this place. We've been members since shortly after we moved to the area and found them. Not only are Mary Ellen, Cinny, and the rest of the staff truly a pleasure to talk with, but their wines are absolutely top notch! This is a great place set on nice acreage filled with grass, trees, and old growth vines. The winery is set in a charming building, where you will eventually end up sitting outside among the vineyard, or upstairs where there is plenty of space to talk, taste the wine, and nibble on the several offerings of cheese, crackers, salami, olives, and more. If you go outside on the deck, you can get a view of the water overlooking the vineyards. Fantastic place for a summer afternoon. Their wines are great and affordable. My wife was not a white wine person, however I truly believe that Mary Ellen's Viognier and Pinot Gris helped with her conversion. On the red side, the Merlot and Grenache are always superb, although you can't really go wrong with any of their selections. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

Writing this review is a challenge because there is so much goodness at OVW that you could literally write a book about the place. I know I could. This is truly one of the most beautiful wineries and vineyards in the Pacific Northwest. Lush, gorgeous gardens (it's like they dipped everything in the most amazing shades of green!). The wines are equal to the venue. I'm especially fond of the rose, but their strawberry wine is close to my heart. It tastes like a summer day. Not too sweet. Just right. We are new to Washington State and Kitsap area and looking at all other reviews for wineries closest to us, Olalla had the most positive. It turned out to be even better than expected! Although a small venue, it is intimate, cozy and very well hidden. The deck gives off tree house vibes and there's a small view of the water where we could see sail boats go by. They played jazzy music and even offered small picnic foods to have with your wine. We had crackers and cheese. The owners live on sight and were so nice! I'm giving 4 stars because I feel it might be too crowded on a busier day (limited outside seating) (We went on a Sunday). One of those crowning jewels in the delight has been the Olalla Vineyard & Winery with their selections of red's to white wines with aromas coming from the uncorked bottle of wines, so deliciously delightful! They offer a wonderful selection of wines and whenever I have visiting guests in town who enjoy their wines, I definitely bring them here and they go home very impressed and happy! Stuart and Mary Ellen, the owners and hosts are so amazing with their warm, heartfelt welcome and knowledge of wines as well as engaging conversations that make the tastings so fun to be there! They love what they do and it shows in all that they do there from greeting you to serving you. Not to forget their also amazing crew serving alongside: Tom and Meghan with their warm aloha to everyone! In the summer, they have music on Friday evenings out in their beautiful vineyard garden and during the colder months in their well decored upstairs music room. Last night we attended a winery dinner at Olalla Winery. We have attended many such events in the past especially at St Michelle which we have found to be invariably good. All things considered, I don't think any could quite match last evening's event. A perfect evening and they knocked it out of the park! The setting: A long table set on the edge of the vineyard with lights twinkling and torches burning. Magical! The food: From start in finish... delicious! The gazpacho appetizer was sensational and the other appetizers were memorably good. We all had more than one handmade bread pastry item as they complemented the salad beautifully. The salmon and paella were excellent. As was the dessert. The wine: Really good from start to finish. We bought several bottles. The hostess: Mary Ellen did an excellent job with a vineyard tour and discussion and as the host of our evening. Nice people! They even had a singing waiter who did a very professional take on "Some Enchanted Evening". It was!! read more
