My family and I had never been to Olamedies before, and since Mexican food is personally my favorite, it was the place I chose for us. The moment I walked into the restaurant, I was welcomed with smiles, amazing smells, and great service. After looking over the menu, we decided on a few different things. When I go out to eat, I like to let the cooks do what they do best and experience their dishes through their own style, creativity, and personal touch. That is part of what makes dining out special. For my meal, I ordered the "Fish de Veracruz," and it was truly delicious. First off, there was a generous amount of food, which for me is never a problem! (Ha ha.) The olive tomato sauce with capers paired with the red snapper was excellent. The fish was cooked perfectly tender, moist, and flaked apart with ease. The flavor was all there, and I didn't even need to ask for limes, salt, or hot sauce because honestly, it didn't need anything added. My wife ordered the breakfast burrito with green sauce on top, served with rice and beans. She chose the pinto beans, and she also really enjoyed her meal. She especially loved the sauce on top, saying it was very flavorful without being spicy. She felt it really completed the burrito by adding another layer of texture and flavor. My daughter, being a toddler, can be a little picky, so she kept it simple with rice, beans, guacamole, and chips. However, she absolutely enjoyed her meal, along with the fresh lemonade they made for us, which she couldn't get enough of. I will also add that eating my dish brought me back to memories of being at my grandmother's house in Puerto Vallarta as a child, enjoying a home cooked meal while she made me laugh and served me food with love. That feeling of comfort is something special that good food can bring back. I did take some time to read through other reviews online to see if they matched my experience, and I noticed they were very mixed. Some customers mentioned concerns about prices, wait times, incorrect orders, or feeling that they did not receive enough value for what they paid. At the same time, others shared experiences like mine and described it as some of the best Mexican food they have had. I can only speak from my own experience, and based on how my family and I were treated, the quality of the food, and the overall atmosphere, our visit was a very positive one. Every restaurant can have an off day, and everyone's expectations are different, but I can only share what happened during our visit. For us, it was a good experience filled with great food, kindness, and hospitality. Olamedies may not be the biggest restaurant, but it is full of warmth, heart, and incredible flavors. I came here because it had 4 star reviews so I wanted to give it a try but I won't be back. $18 for a burrito and $13 for a small kids quesadilla is insane. I don't even know how this place stays in business. For the quality and portions the kids meal should have been $10 max and that burrito is maybe worth $14 at most. I got the chicken mole enchiladas with black beans and rice. My husband got the carnitas and a carne asada quesadilla. we have ordered this many time. Tonight there were no tortillas for the carnita, requested flour. There was NO meat on the quesadilla, only cheese. Carnitas were completely dry. New to the neighborhood and decided to try this place out while in the shopping center. First impression was very positive. Not only is the restaurant very clean and well maintained, but the service is outstanding. Everyone is so friendly! The owner even came over to greet me, tell me a little about the history of the restaurant and how their food is prepared. We ordered a variety of a la carte tacos and a carne asada Healthy Bowl. Wow, the tacos were outstanding. Not only did they include a good size portion of protein, but you can tell they use quality ingredients. Very tasty! The bowl was delicious as well. My only complaint was that I requested no rice, so there wasn't anything to soak up the juices from the meat and veggies, so my plate got a little runny. I have had many mole plates in my day. It's my favorite Mexican dish. So when I came in for lunch with the fam to Olamendis and saw the "Mole Poblano Enchiladas" meal that was marked "Mom's favorite" my tummy and I were excited. The people here were so friendly. And not that "I have to be nice to customers" friendly, but genuine down home friendliness. I quickly discovered this is a family owned and operated business (the "mom's favorite" line was the first clue). It really shows in the ambience and the food. When the Mole came out, the owner himself brought it and explained that it is homemade ("casero" en español) sauce and he was happy that I was trying it. He said this in Spanish, which I can speak pretty well so I am pretty sure I understood it. The mole was the best I've had. Hands down. I wasn't that hungry so I had planned to only eat half and take the rest home. Yeah, that plan went out the window after the first bite. The sauce was the perfect blend of spicy with that hint of savory sweetness from the cocoa that only mole has. If I could give this 10 stars I would. It's Taco Tuesday so it's time to check out a new Taco Tuesday place! I've passed by Olamendis a million times as it's right next to Sprouts, which I go to quite often. It's amazing that I've never been here before since they're just 1 mile away from where I live. Apparently they've been in business since 1973, which is no small feat! On Taco Tuesday they offer soft or crispy tacos for $2.95 each. Typically the tacos cost between $5.25 - $5.95 depending on the filling you get. The options are carnitas, chicken, shredded beef, potato, al pastor and fish. I called in my order for 2 tacos (carnitas and chicken) and a 4 oz side of guacamole for $6.95. I thought the guac was a bit expensive for the size, but the taste was amazing and very authentic. The tacos were good but not out of this world. They were a bit on the small side, and I wish there were more protein inside each taco, but the shells were crunchy and the tacos in general were good. The carnitas were a tad bit greasy, but that's to be expected. Service was friendly on the phone and in person. The interior is rather small with a few tables inside and more outside. Plenty of shared parking is available. I would definitely return again to try some of their other items, especially the chilaquiles! read more

Food was okay closer to Mexican American than traditional and a bit on the expensive side for what you get. The person running the place is charismatic and welcoming for sure but messed up my order and basically charged me $12.99 for 4 oz guacamole even when I called him out on it. There is a sign up with $6.99 for 4 oz guacamole and chips and so I ordered that but upgraded it to an 8 oz for $12.99. When I see him bag it, it's in a 4 oz container and he says to me I put chips in your bag complimentary. I was a little confused because I ordered chips but thought he meant on top of what I ordered. I also saw him put a 4 oz container of guacamole in the bag and I literally asked him "oh did you include the 8 oz guacamole in there?" He double checked and said yes I didn't forget and he tied up my bag. So I gave him the benefit of the doubt and maybe 2 4 oz containers were in there. Opened the bag at home, only the complimentary chips (two tiny bags - I ordered a combination plate and more tacos) and 4 oz guacamole. So just some advice, watch them bag your order and push on them if they have it wrong (and push them harder when they tell you it's right but it's actually wrong). read more

This time we ordered the Nachos Olamendis (added chicken) - comes with lots of guac & sour cream & a generous portion of shredded chicken. Plenty to share between two. The carne asada wet burrito with red sauce was huge & very filling. We had to try the famous Olamendis Carnitas. Pork shoulder slow cooked in orange juice, comes with rice, guacamole & tortillas. Start with the cashier, I really can't say I ever had anyone serve me with a better attitude than the guy who helped me and I say right by the register and he kept that amazing attitude with all customers. Delicious enchiladas. My recommendation would be to ask for extra salsa because they only give a little container per meal. I'm not a huge fan of beans so I asked if I can just get rice and salad instead and they gave me a whole extra side salad which was great! The company I was with got the burrito and potato tacos which they swear by. This is my first experience at this restaurant so I went with my favorite which is enchiladas. Can't complain one bit! I got 1 cheese and 1 beef.
