Ordered a carne asada burrito to go and was surprised to find it was a wet burrito when I opened it. I wasn't expecting that and didn't realize their burritos come that way, so just something to be aware of when ordering. I also ordered a side of chips, which ended up being only about six chips total. Overall, a bit disappointing.

The albóndigas soup on a rainy day was much needed. Definitely recommend. This is in the middle of a quick service in a sitdown restaurant. The food is always good and you can take it to go or eat in as they have a couple of tables and chairs inside.

We have eaten and ordered from here multiple times over the last 25 years. Tonight we used Uber eats to have delivered a common order, for us. I got the chicken mole enchiladas with black beans and rice. My husband got the carnitas and a carne asada quesadilla. we have ordered this many time. Tonight there were no tortillas for the carnita, requested flour. There was NO meat on the quesadilla, only cheese. Carnitas were completely dry. No flavor, salsa or seasoning. unlike the many times over 25 years we have ordered them. So...no meat on the quesadilla, no mole sauce, no tortilla. I called the restaurant asking about the missing items before I posted this. completely disappointed.

New to the neighborhood and decided to try this place out while in the shopping center. First impression was very positive. Not only is the restaurant very clean and well maintained, but the service is outstanding. Everyone is so friendly! The owner even came over to greet me, tell me a little about the history of the restaurant and how their food is prepared. We ordered a variety of a la carte tacos and a carne asada Healthy Bowl. Wow, the tacos were outstanding. Not only did they include a good size portion of protein, but you can tell they use quality ingredients. Very tasty! The bowl was delicious as well. My only complaint was that I requested no rice, so there wasn't anything to soak up the juices from the meat and veggies, so my plate got a little runny. Overall everything was great and we will definitely be eating here regularly.

Excellent experience here at this Mexican restaurant right next to sprouts! Inside and outside seating available. We came on a Friday around 12:30 pm. Not busy. Plenty of seats available. Loved the decorations and attention to detail. Very clean restaurant inside. Good atmosphere. Estela was such an excellent staff member. Very friendly, very helpful, very polite, and very helpful as I was trying to figure out what to eat. For our 1st time there, it was a great choice. The food was amazing, fresh, delicious, great flavor. Plenty of parking.

I have had many mole plates in my day. It's my favorite Mexican dish. So when I came in for lunch with the fam to Olamendis and saw the "Mole Poblano Enchiladas" meal that was marked "Mom's favorite" my tummy and I were excited. The people here were so friendly. And not that "I have to be nice to customers" friendly, but genuine down home friendliness. I quickly discovered this is a family owned and operated business (the "mom's favorite" line was the first clue). It really shows in the ambience and the food. When the Mole came out, the owner himself brought it and explained that it is homemade ("casero" en español) sauce and he was happy that I was trying it. He said this in Spanish, which I can speak pretty well so I am pretty sure I understood it. The mole was the best I've had. Hands down. I wasn't that hungry so I had planned to only eat half and take the rest home. Yeah, that plan went out the window after the first bite. The sauce was the perfect blend of spicy with that hint of savory sweetness from the cocoa that only mole has. If I could give this 10 stars I would. Olamendis is a small place in a strip mall wedged between restaurant chains, but don't let its humble size fool you. The flavors are muy grande (and delicioso!)

Ceviche salad with water from the rinsed lettuce!

Worst mexican food ever! Absolutely no flavor, not even salt. The pinto beans went straight into the trash. My salad had sooo much water from rinsing the lettuce. OMG! Do yourself a favor and go to Cucas, excellent food for half the price!!!

It's Taco Tuesday so it's time to check out a new Taco Tuesday place! I've passed by Olamendis a million times as it's right next to Sprouts, which I go to quite often. It's amazing that I've never been here before since they're just 1 mile away from where I live. Apparently they've been in business since 1973, which is no small feat! On Taco Tuesday they offer soft or crispy tacos for $2.95 each. Typically the tacos cost between $5.25 - $5.95 depending on the filling you get. The options are carnitas, chicken, shredded beef, potato, al pastor and fish. I called in my order for 2 tacos (carnitas and chicken) and a 4 oz side of guacamole for $6.95. I thought the guac was a bit expensive for the size, but the taste was amazing and very authentic. The tacos were good but not out of this world. They were a bit on the small side, and I wish there were more protein inside each taco, but the shells were crunchy and the tacos in general were good. The carnitas were a tad bit greasy, but that's to be expected. Service was friendly on the phone and in person. The interior is rather small with a few tables inside and more outside. Plenty of shared parking is available. I would definitely return again to try some of their other items, especially the chilaquiles!

My daughter and I came here for lunch today. What a great choice! The young man who took our order was so thorough and very sweet, making sure we understood some of the items we were asking for. Although you can sit inside, we sat outside under an umbrella enjoying the music they play. Our food came out in a timely manner, nice and hot. Very tasteful! I highly recommend this eatery!

Mission Viejo, Ca. I came here for lunch and saw that there was a lunch special for ten bucks. What came next was a difference of expectations based on experience and the Olamendes lunch special formula. I ordered the quesadilla with chicken that came with beans and a salad with a few chips and small cups of salsa. What I expected: A normal quesadilla on a large flour tortilla folded in half chock full of cheese, chicken, and other good stuff. What I got: A very small sandwich style quesadilla that immediately made me disappointed. Black beans, What I expected: whole black beans, perhaps in a slight amount of water or no sauce at all. Black beans, what I got: refried style beans mixed with lard or some pasty substance. The iceberg lettuce salad was ok but who cares, it's iceberg. The few chips, also ok. I might be back to try something on the main menu, but then I might not, certainly nothing special here, although the service was very nice. read more

Honestly the BEST chilaquiles HANDS DOWN. The red sauce with an over easy egg... perfection! It also comes with beans and rice, I prefer black beans and I always am scraping the bowl at the end tbh. The atmosphere is super cute and warm! Staff is always friendly and welcoming. They have fresh juice water, agua frescas! I LOVE their agua de Jamaica with a splash of their lemon water for a refreshing pair to my meal. High recommendation! They even made sure our chips were fresh!! Love love loveeee! read more

The food is okay! Not bad, but not amazing! However, I did enjoy the flavor in the chicken enchiladas compared to the carnitas. The taste of orange juice in the carnitas was strong and a bit much. Very good Mexican food. Ordered a bean and cheese burrito (to go). Not the type of burrito you can hold. It's served in a container with enchilada sauce on top and more cheese. The beans are fantastic. I like the sauce on top. But not the type of burrito you can eat in the car or on the go. You'll have to sit down and enjoy this one. Best Chile Relleno ever!I cant wait to come back and order more food to try out. I sitting here At Olamendis. My carnitas burrito was as good as it always is. BUT!! The pricing is a little off!!! I'm not the type to complain while the cook/food preparer is only foot away. A carnitas burritos is is $13.95 on the menu but my bill was $20.00 with a $1.79 tip. Yes that is a poor tip but the pricing is not correct. They just lost a long time customer!!! read more

OH BABY! Ordered through Grub Hub and boy was this place good! We enjoyed the carnitas burrito plate and the carnitas plate. Both came with yummy guacamole, delicious rice, and a pinto bean cup. I loved that the guacamole was chunky and not watered down. I loved that the rice had great flavor and wasn't sticky. And I loved the carnitas - they were so flavorful and fell apart so easily. I'd absolutely recommend this place and bet it'd be even better in person. read more

We tried Olamendis for the first time today using DoorDash and we were pretty happy! My dad was born and raised in Mexico, so he's super picky about Mexican food but he absolutely loved this place!! He wouldn't stop talking about how good the tacos were! My mom also ordered the fish tacos and she loved them as well. I'm a picky eater so I ordered the quesadilla but it was actually pretty good. First time eating here & I have to say it's definitely authentic & very tasteful! The plating was done very well as you can see in the picture its very aesthetically pleasing, the flavor is good as well! I wish the salsa for the enchilada was a bit more spicy (I love spicy food). The agua fresca is melon flavor & its sooo perfect! The person inside let me taste it before purchasing and that's the type of service that should be done everywhere, he did not hesitate to let me try it & in fact let me sample the lemonade & hibiscus one as well! All are good but my favs was the melon & lemonade! Definitely will be coming back to try other plates as this one passed the test! ‍ 9/10 read more

Delicious but freakin expensive!! $5.25 for a taco a la carte and $15 for a tostada which is huge to be fair. Both my taco and tostada were stuffed with meat so it ended up being two small meals for me. Also comes with chips and salsa so it is a good enough value, I just wouldn't buy it every week. read more

I had lunch there yesterday. The lunch special was so good. 1 large fish taco with a lot of grilled fish, salad, beans, rice and any kind of drink for $10.99 every day. I highly recommend this place by Trabuco Hills high school. All good is homemade. Even the fruit drinks. read more

I only come here for the flan. It is delicious!! Just like how my mom makes it at home. I live nearby, so I come as often as I can, and I always double check to make sure they have it. The man at the counter is SO sweet. Whether he remembers me or not, he makes me feel like family, which I don't feel a lot in this area. I would NEVER expect anyone to do this, but he even gave me a flan for free one time. He absolutely didn't have to do that, but it meant so much to me. I always come when I need a little flan to make me feel like I'm at home read more

I'm only a fan of fish taco but the fish taco here today was so tasty I'll have to sample other kinds in the near future . Flavorful w fresh fixins ....it's a wow. Place is immaculate , the flavors waft thru the air like a sudden cool breeze on a hot day . Remember that old tv commercial , "try it you'll like it "? Carlos Olamendi is the best! His restaurant is a gem in the community. His food never disappoints. His restaurant is special. They offer inside or outside seating. Peaceful music plays outside too. :) My family and I have been coming here for years. We love coming here so much we decided to have them cater my daughter's wedding. This is a great find! Drove over from Portola Hills and it's well worth the drive. The Tacos are stuffed with tender carne asada and the chicken tacos were stuffed with flavorful meat. They have Fish Veracruz which UCLA had to find. It was made the traditional way just like being in a small fishing village in Baja. The flan was to die for! It tastes just like being in my grandmothers kitchen. Service was outstanding. All the staff was very pleasant! read more

High expectations and it ended up being a total disaster. Earlier in the week I walk in @ opening the nice man behind the counter introduced himself as the owner. He is very proud of his place and his food. I had to run without ordering and returned solo late on this Saturday afternoon. About 15 people were around in the open seating both in and outdoors. I ordered the priciest menu item - the carne asada platter. As things are cooked to order I asked for rare meat.I sat outside as they said they would bring it to me. After 20 minutes I asked..."working on it" Then 30 minutes and the young mixed race girl said..."well it is a 30 minute wait time" What? I am supposed to know that? At the 42 minute mark it arrived and was underwhelming. The meat was cool to the touch, well done and the onions/peppers on top were soggy and overcooked. The meat was just unremarkable in every way. A side cheese enchilada that was with it was average. The highlight were the nice warm buttered tortillas. $12,50 is a lot for tortillas. I also wenr inside to get salt and pepper shakers. Gross, those things had not been wiped down in weeks....maybe months. Cloudy and sticky shakers. Staff, looked like two young female clerks made no effort to say sorry or anything, Really really bad, The owner had really got me excited about his place. My wife usually prefers Asian food, but she loves the fish tacos and salad. She works nearby so she goes as often as possible.
