I honestly don't understand the 2-star rating for St. Luke's South Hospital. I've been here for the…read morepast two days with my brother, and every single person we've encountered has been incredibly kind, compassionate, and helpful. We brought my brother into the ER due to kidney failure. Yes, there was a bit of a wait initially, which is understandable in a busy emergency room. But once he was taken back, the medical team moved quickly. They evaluated him, explained everything clearly, and had him started on dialysis the very next day. From the ER staff to the nurses and doctors, everyone has treated our family with respect, patience, and genuine care. During a very stressful and frightening time, their professionalism and kindness have meant so much to us. Our family is truly grateful for the care my brother has received here. Thank you to the amazing team at St. Luke's South for everything you do.

Unfortunately, tests that were definitive detectors of my diagnosis were severely delayed in turnaround time because of the 3rd party radiology providers who were responsible for reading and interpreting my CT Angio scan and x-rays. For someone who was in pain and anxious regarding what would be found and what to expect as the next line of treatment, I frequently asked about the results of those diagnostics. I was repeatedly informed by various staff members that the 3rd party radiology providers who are responsible for reading those diagnostics are "horrible about doing it on the night shift." We anxiously waited for multiple hours to get the results of the cardiac diagnostic scan, which was scary given my level of pain coupled with the fear of what would be discovered. This delay in getting those scans read and interpreted translates to longer wait times, more anxiety, and lengthy delays in life-saving measures for your patients. The result is decreased patient satisfaction and lower patient satisfaction scores for your organization. II. Incorrectly Ordered Prescription - My husband went to my pharmacy to pick up the prescriptions that were ordered by the ED physician. The pharmacist told my husband that the doctor ordered a different amount from what was on the prescription while on a phone call with the pharmacist. I'm not sure if the physician noticed the error and called to correct it, yet this was something that required me to make additional calls to the ED to seek clarification while my husband waited at the pharmacy. This was another delay in the process of recovery and pain relief. III. Incorrect Referral Process - I was referred to a cardiologist by the ED team. I called earlier this morning to set an appointment. Unfortunately, I was told that the ED should have put in a referral in the system and that was not done. I was told that the cardiologist's office did not have access to my e-chart because the process was not followed correctly. The person who scheduled my appointment stated that she is used to getting referrals from the providers on your night shift and those she works with on that shift "don't skip a beat." She stated the name listed as the referring provider was not familiar to her. Thankfully, she was able to troubleshoot and I was able to get my appointment scheduled after doing extra work to get it done.

Zero communication, HORRIBLE automated system for inbound calls, very little staffing on the patient floors, attending physician missing in action - I could go on but just know this is NOT a good hospital! She was released the following Thursday with very little accomplished during her stay. Repeated a test for no apparent reason, not bathed all week, gave the wrong medication and did not inform us she was ready for discharge. Going back a week to her initial ER visit, I now understand why they didn't have a room for 36 hours to admit her - the disorganization is so bad they just can't move people through the process! It genuinely felt like they were bleeding the insurance company for every nickel they could - lots of wasted time. NEVER LET ANYONE TAKE YOU TO ADVENT! Horrible experience

The doctors are extremely talented and the care is top-notch. They have an ICU and multiple other facilities in this the nurses over here in the parts center are very talented. We worked with somebody called Emily and she was outstanding. The front office is very efficient and they follow HIPAA guidelines and make sure that the security is good. This place does have a great cafeteria for a very nominal prizes everything over here that you find is very cheap. I definitely recommend this place for new parents.

My sister received care when it was time for medications, but otherwise staff were invisible. Never was she given mouth care or help getting a bath. She ate almost nothing for breakfast on Saturday so I didn't order another meal for her the entire weekend. The Saturday's breakfast tray was left on her counter until Monday morning's nurse came in her room. Nobody kept track of what she drank and nobody seemed to notice that she hadn't eaten all weekend. I would help her turn on the nurses light when she was hurting and needed to be turned. It was common for her to wait 45 minutes to have anyone begrudgingly answer her light. At one point they used a plastic turning sheet under her to move her into position. They let that slick, hot, plastic sheet under her for a full day, ignoring her complaints of how hot and sweaty she felt lying on plastic hour after hour. It was nearly impossible to get any nursing care. No one in leadership made rounds. Of course, no nurse did any type of hourly rounding. PT worked with her once and determined she was too weak to work with them, so nobody even worked to get her to sit up in bed. They knew so little about her that when it was time for her to be transferred to a rehab facility, they ordered a wheelchair van to transport her! The transporter came & suddenly six nursing staff were in her room to transfer her from her dirty bed to the wheelchair. My sister became dizzy and nauseous sitting up for the first time in a week. My guess is that the staff had no idea that her slowness was due to physiological reasons but thought maybe she was being lazy. One young woman screamed in her face to comply. My sister died at the rehab facility a week or so later. I pushed to get her back there because I knew she would get the care she needed and be treated like a human being. It's been two and a half years since she passed. I wish the nightmare she experienced at Menorah would pass from my mind. My only regret is that I felt so out of control with nobody in leadership to help us get her the care she needed. My hope is that nobody else will suffer at the hands of the Menorah nursing staff like she did.
