Got beans, creamed corn & potato salad sides and they were fabulous. Quick service- even during Lavender Fest wknd, and friendly staff! We were kind of hot after walking around, so chose to eat inside, instead of the front patio area. We came here after Texas Cannon made us leave because apparently I can't even carry my pug in to order a beer. So we walked over and the lady at 300 says right away that they love dogs and what rooms we could go in. The food here is so good. Cold beer and barbecue, great people working here. They say everything is bigger in Texas and oh my, they are so right! We ordered 2 brisket sandwiches and as it's Thursday, it's brisket tacos so 2 of those as well and hands down, one of best brisket I've had. Mind you, I could not even finish half of the sandwich. They were huge, flavorful, moist and thick cuts. You will not be disappointed. I'm such a tourist as I love the Texan decor, inside and out. After you order and pay, you can go to the room next door and get the condiments - bbq sauce, pickles, mayo, mustard and marinated onions. Add them to your sandwich, it's a full meal! We also ordered 2 banana bread. Not too sweet and 3 of us split one and it was perfect after a heavy meal. Great service. The cashier was great. Our order was finished shortly after we got the condiments. She didn't just called us from the counter but came out to an area in front of the cashier with a few chairs and handed it to us. It is as expensive as San Antonio bbq places... and it is nowhere near as good as the average spots. And for it being the only place in town to get BBQ you'd think it would be better. Stopped by when we were passing through town. What a great BBQ spot. Cold beer, nice ambiance, and yummy BBQ. I got the stuffed baked potato and it was HUGE! Hubby got a local beer on tap and said it was quite tasty. The walk up service was a bit slower than expected since they were not busy but we were not in a rush so we were not bothered by it much. GO EARLY! I've been a few times now and always miss the bbq baked potato and a few other things. So obviously this place is poppin'. The brisket is so moist, just the right amount of fat on the edges that melt in your mouth. Mac n' cheese is creamy, not jam packed with flavor but still a good choice. The green beans are cooked with bacon, yum! All the fixin's are laid out for you to grab yourself, bbq sauce, pickles, onions, slices white bread, etc. The sauce was a little sweet for my liking and served cold which to me makes your meal cold but I personally like to let the brisket shine without sauce most of the time anyway so no biggie but something to keep in mind if you've never been here. Wow, I went to this Blanco barbecue place and I asked for a kids brisket sandwich and astonishing. I had to pay $10 for this small little tiny brisket sandwich that was just a mouthful. When you go to a small town and you want to explore it and try out new types of places in the food and the surrounding area you don't expect to pay $10 for a tiny little bitty sandwich. That's not even enough for a kid to consume. This place sucks even if a sandwich was bigger the brisket still sucks. The staff is amazing! The Pit Master is a total professional. The Bar-B-Que is the second best in town but my dad only makes Bar-B-Que on special occasions and you can't buy it. My favorite lunch is a spud with chop, and blackberry cobbler. The portions are so large that I can eat half the day I buy it and half the next day. read more

It was good being back in Texas and having texas BBQ! Old 300 is the real deal BBQ. The way it is meant to be. Pure Texas smoked meat with fantastic sauce. Our good friends had their rehearsal dinner here. It is a bit off the beaten path but if you're in the area it is a must stop. The venue itself is down home log and country. Parking is an issue so get here in plenty of time to hunt for a space. At the dinner they set it up buffet style with all of the choices... chicken, sausage, brisket, and pulled pork. Then there were sides of backed beans, potato salad and Mac n cheese. All of the meat was good... even for a mass buffet style... which usually mean lesser quality. This was not the case. The meat was juicy, tender and cooked well! The sausage was especially good! I was shocked at the quality when this much was cooked and served at once in a long wait line. I don't eat potato salad... but the beans were ok and the Mac n cheese was awesome! Super good... creamy, not overly fussy or made with 20 fancy cheeses, but elevated enough to stand out and be a star. There was a good selection of sauces too. I had the spicy bbq which I though was the bomb! The experience was top notch! Great food, good people and wonderful atmosphere. I would be happy to be able to come back and enjoy their BBQ again!! We were served cold ribs today. When I told the staff, they were unconcerned. For the price of this food, it could be hot or even warm.

First time trying it today and was originally excited for good BBq and looking forward to enjoying some good mac & cheese from a barbecue restaurant. However the Mac n cheese was terrible. It was served cold and with absolutely no flavor.. I threw the rest of it away. It is not difficult to make good macaroni and cheese.. even after adding salt and pepper to it it was just not edible. Shocking. The brisket we ordered was very fatty. It was barely edible. While I was in the restroom, they came by and threw away the rest of our brisket off the table that we were not done eating. It also didn't have much flavor. We had to add salt, pepper and bbq sauce to it. In my opinion, a really good brisket doesn't need barbecue sauce to be delicious.. it just adds to it if you want more flavor. All in all WOULD NOT go here again and pay their prices for mediocre food/service. Unfortunately Smokey Mo's food is better than this. read more

In town for the weekend and this place came up as a recommendation for BBQ. There were 4 of us and everyone had a different item and all were good with fast service. I'm not a big fan of wagyu beef, but they make some good brisket out it here. The place has plenty of seating for large groups. The service is walk up and they bring it to your table. This is the best Barbque in central Texas hands down. My wife and I ran across this gem a couple of years ago, and we keep coming back again and again. We would come up from San Antonio, now from New Braunfels. The brisket is juice and tender with great smoke flavor, turkey is the best we have ever had. Ribs are the most moist and flavorful you will ever find. Sides are sides hard to mess them up. Staff is very friendly and helpful. If you come during lunch in the week they are always busy, and the weekends are crazy. Prices are in line with Que now days it just is not cheap. Watch for the Bucket deal the 3 rd Sunday of the month, for a couple it is enough food for several meals. Great selection of cold beer. Is not fancy it is plain Darn Good. read more

What a perfect place for some of the best bbq in Texas! I got the El Jefe.. which is Brisket and Jalapeño in a bun! No sauce... which trust me you don't need! Not sure what is going on, but the last couple of times we have eaten at Old 300 BBQ, the ribs have been horrible and the brisket was not good. The ribs were tough and way over-seasoned and the brisket was the same. Brisket sandwich was served on a horrible hogie type bun. What is going on? Sad, because we drive an hour to dine-in. We ordered the angus brisket, half chicken, potato salad, Mac n cheese, creamed corn and banana pudding. They also had a Wagyu brisket but we decided on angus. The brisket was moist and thick sliced! We loved it. The chicken fell short, was too dry. Loved all the sides! Potato salad was nicely made! We sat in the patio since the weather was nice. We couldn't come to Texas without having barbecue. There was a decent amount of parking available. Highly recommend stopping in if you find yourself in the area. The restaurant was very busy on a Tuesday which I took as a good sign. We waited in line for about 10 minutes which was fine as it gave us time to look over the menu and pick some drinks. We ordered 1.5 lbs of brisket, macaroni and cheese, pinto beans, and potato salad. After placing our order we found a seat and headed to the self service station to get our barbecue sauce (they offer a sweet and a spicy), pickled onions, sliced bread, and pickles. Before we knew it our food was being brought out to us. The brisket was tender, moist, and flavorful. My husband said it was the best brisket he has ever tried. The macaroni and cheese was creamy with a unique tang to it. The potato salad was absolutely my favorite!!! Just the perfect blend of flavors and probably the best potato salad I've ever had. The pinto beans were the only thing that was lacking flavor which was a bit disappointing, but the quality of the rest of our food made up for it. I had the sweet tea, which was also very good. They are a bbq joint. But they don't have a 1 meat plate or 2 meat plate or 3 meat plate with sides on the menu like all other bbq places do. They sell meat sandwiches. No plates. I wanted a low carb meal... ie meat, I requested couple slices brisket and 2 Ribs with beans and slaw. They forced me to buy a certain amount of brisket and ribs. Don't remember details I was pissed off. Over $33 dollars for 1 person, I haven't been back. Prepare to be ripped off if you want a meat plate. read more

Two of us had the impossible-to-finish, make-a-rabbit-hug-a-hound "Sam Houston" signature sandwich, a combination of mouthwatering Akaushi beef brisket, turkey, and jalapeño sausage.
