Old Blue BBQ catered a birthday party that my roommate and I hosted this past summer. Everything about the experience was amazing. Stephan, one of the two owners, showed up early and set everything up. The food was incredible. The brisket might be the best I've ever had, and I lived for years in Texas. And the Mac n Cheese... I'm salivating just thinking about it. It's also a locally owned business! Kelly, the other owner, was amazingly organized and made making arrangements super easy. Both Kelly and Stephan were wonderful to deal with and really went the extra mile to make the party a success - and all at a reasonable price. My son & daughter-in-law were married on Saturday May 6, 2018 and we used Old Blue BBQ in Alexandria as our caterer for the semi-casual reception dinner. We were invited to go with the bride and groom for the tasting several months prior to the wedding. The selection of foods that we sampled including appetizers were absolutely delicious well presented, and hard to choose from. The day of the wedding Old Blue arrived on time and set up the reception in the barn that went along with the wedding theme of Vintage Chic. They arranged the tables, linens, table settings, and table decorations along with guidance from the wedding planner. The appetizers were delicious and seemed to satisfy the crowd waiting during pictures. The bar was set up and managed well. The buffet style dinner was absolutely awesome. The food was plenty, organized, and delicious. The caterers stayed until the end of the reception packing up the extra food, breaking down tables, putting up chairs, cleaning up, and taking the trash for the evening with them. I would recommend Old Blue BBQ to anyone having a semi- causal reception. They are professional, on time, and more than prepared, and most importantly the food was enjoyed and delicious. read more

A few weeks ago we had the absolute pleasure of working with Shannon and Old Blue BBQ for our wedding reception. They were amazing from start to finish. They were very thorough and so helpful and worked with the budget we had to give us the best possible results. The set-up looked great and they even helped display our dessert which we got from another vendor. The staff was super friendly and very nice. The food was delicious. We had the tri-tip and the pulled pork. For the sides we had the brussel sprouts and gratin. All were incredible. Also, the pig candy was a major hit. We had people coming up to us telling us that this was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding and some people even asking for recipes. Shannon is awesome and Old Blue BBQ is incredible. I couldn't recommend them highly enough. And if they ever just opened a restaurant, we'd be there in a heartbeat. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Old Blue BBQ. Hands down, the best food I've ever had at a wedding. Our guests are still raving about how amazing the food was, and that alone would warrant a 5 star review. However, it was so many other things that made us fall in love. We had two guests with very specific food requests (due to health reasons) and Old Blue's owner/chef researched both conditions and created customized meals for them. He even called to discuss all of the details of those food requests, to make sure he completely understood and to put our minds at ease. On the day of the wedding, my husband and I were never without food or drink! They brought us huge plates full of food, without having us stand in line for the buffet, and would breeze by with drink refills before we even noticed that we were out of wine. And don't get me started on how awesome everyone that works there is (shoutout to Shannon and Kari!) Seriously, go with Old Blue immediately. I contacted Old Blue BBQ and worked with Kelly for my husband's 40th birthday party. They were an amazing company to work with - professional, on top of everything, and amazing food of course. I contacted them based on their great reviews on Yelp and they delivered. Kelly was always in touch with me and worked with me on finalizing the menu. When we didn't go with their drinks option, she assisted me with choosing appropriate wines and beers - everyone loved them. They took the stress out of every part of this event so I could enjoy the party as much as my husband did. I know they do HUGE events but I felt I received the same service they give to their bigger parties. Kelly's staff was polite, professional and always working, but were never obtrusive. Recently used Old Blue BBQ for a wedding rehearsal dinner at Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg and it was fabulous! We dealt with Shannon through out the planning and on that night - she could not have been better - professional and personable. I highly recommend Old Blue BBQ! you can't go wrong!! When we were researching caterers for our wedding reception, we came across Old Blue BBQ and we are so happy that we did. Kelly was very accommodating and had a lot of ideas to help make our wedding reception outstanding. Kelly offered us a comprehensive tasting of the food available, although I neglected to send her a list of items we wanted to try, she provided some of the top items which were awesome! We also went to some of their events to try additional food items. When we started looking at the menu more in-depth, we wanted to try some other food -- Kelly coordinated with Shannon and they delivered the items to our house! They definitely went above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied. Shannon, who delivered the items to our house was pleasant and very friendly! Kelly also worked with us to provide chalk signs and some center pieces for our tables. The presentation of buffet table and dessert tables were set up exquisitely. I can't forget to mention the food ... the food is delicious and I reserved multiple comments about how our wedding guests loved the food (they said, it was your typical wedding food). We had pulled chicken, salmon, mac n cheese, asparagus, and the picnic slaw salad (you can't go wrong with any of these). They also do a stuffed pepper for the vegetarians. The BBQ sauces at the tables were also a nice touch :) If you are looking for a great caterer with reasonable prices, shop no further! read more

Old Blue BBQ is awesome. We had a hard time trying to hire a caterer for our wedding because we live out of state. Kelly really blew me away when she brought a tasting all the way out to Winchester because we were only in town for a limited time. Kelly's experience, coupled with her constantly going above and beyond for customers, helped everything go smoothly at our reception. Their crew set up in a less than ideal situation (basically a dirt trail in the woods) and provided excellent service. We opted to serve the food family style and they excecuted it flawlessly. The way they displayed the food was beautiful. And their food is so freaking good. All our guests raved about it. From their sauces to their fresh pickles to the meat and sides, everyone loved all the food Old Blue BBQ had to offer. Everyone talked about how great the bartender Aaron was too! Okay, I am from Texas, so I am automatically skeptical about BBQ here in the area. I was really crossing my fingers that the food would be amazing. The ordering process was smooth and easy. People were very responsive. The pricing is, I think, pretty good, as well. Fast forward to the date of the event. They showed up 5 minutes early, walked in with all the supplies, set up where I needed them to, processed my payment and then kindly departed. So, game time. We started eating the food, and it did not disappoint. I opted for the brisket. Oh my god, it was awesome. The pulled chickena and pork were darn tasty too. The sides were exactly what we needed, not to mention the free pickled, buns, and cornbread. At the end, all I had to do was throw everything away. This operation knows what they are doing and have it down to a science. I have been eating leftovers for breakfast. Yes, breakfast. I will default to them whenever I need more catering. I only wish they would cater to my wife and I only every now and then. Open up a food truck, already!!! They are legit.
