There was a decent chunk of the fridge for already prepared food for grab and go. Might need a little more direction for the front of house workers. Actively sitting down during their shift, delaying and using people's time to just sit on their phones at the front door. Might not be the greatest look as a business owner. Ordered chicken salad sandwich (4.5/5) but said no tomatoes, registered on receipt no tomato, had to pull tomatoes off the sandwich. Chicken had an Indian marsala taste to it, very flavorful and delicious. I had the chicken cordon blue Sammie and was overall a 5/5! Great sauce with a lil mustard zing. This place is located inside of the Bread and Water Company in a little strip mall. There is tons of parking available. They have a few seats for those waiting for their food, but there is no place to dine inside. There are a few tables and chairs outside though. This is a bakery that serves burgers, hot dogs and fries essentially. This place has full pies and cakes, you can also get them by the slice. They have cookies, bars, bread, soups, cupcakes, scones, coffees and teas. As I mentioned earlier, they also have hotdogs, sandwiches and burgers. I ordered the roadhouse burgers with a side of fries. It took them a while to prepare my food. It was about 30 minutes. There were a lot of fries and they were pretty good. The burger was ok. It was luke warm at best and the bacon was a bit over-chewy. It did have a lot of flavor though and was not the worse burger I have had. I just could have been better. Meh...? We looked at the photos on here and immediately called an uber. We didn't read reviews unfortunately or we'd know that there aren't any tables to eat at. That was on us though! The customer service is really non existent. The burgers are incredibly basic; very little sauce and onions. Not at all like the photos. The poutine fries were undercooked and flavorless. They were not waffle fries! I'm glad we split both the burger and the fries. The burger was a normal size but the fries were huge. I also ordered a piece of bread pudding and it has a very strong taste of egg. That's about the only flavor that I tasted despite the fact that the pudding is made of leftover almond croissants. I ordered my food via door dash. So my review is going to be based off of flavor and taste. My food was ready fairly quickly and delivered in a timely manner. I ordered the bun papa classic burger, Chicago dog and the fries. The burger was huge. The toppings on it made the bun soggy im some spots so it made it a little bit difficult to enjoy the brioche bun. The Chicago dog was a little messy but i appreciated the grilled bun. I love fries, but the menu says shoestring and the fries were not shoestring fries at all. I had to use my airfryer to crisp them back up because they were a little soft from delivery travel. At first, i didn't notice the sign so had a hard time finding it until i saw the logo on a window. It's inside the Bread & Water Company storefront. We ordered our food online and when we arrived to pick it up, it was not ready as their system was down and they did not have internet in the store. Luckily, the lady at the register was very nice and started working on it and it took 10 ish mins. I got a Bun Papa Classic with no cheese and shoestring fries. There are a few tables outside but we took this order home. The fries seemed more like regular fries and not shoestring. I liked them and they had a creamy texture on the inside. The burger had 2 beef patties with lettuce, red onions and tomato on a brioche bun with mayo, house dill pickle and ketchup. I really liked the bun. It was soft, fluffy, pillowy and held up well with the contents of the burger. To quote a previous review, "...meh." Not the best. Not the worst. I ordered a BYO Burger. I asked for American cheese, red onion and garlic aioli. The cheese wasn't listed for a prices, but the onion and aioli was listed under, "complimentary." While it was being put into the register, each additional, "complimentary" addition had $.50 tacked onto it. So I said, "the onion and aioli are listed under complimentary." Got the chance to try Bun Papa out at a recent Wizards game (they're located by section 216 for the 2023-24 season) and was blown away by how great the food was, particularly given how hard it is to serve up hot, fresh food at a stadium that holds thousands. (Well, it's the Wizards, so more like dozens.) The Papa Poutine, a mass of waffle fries covered with gravy, ground beef, cheese curds, green onions and onion straws, was absolutely fantastic, an epic combination of rich flavors that looked amazing and tasted even better. It's a standout, as it's the only thing I've ever ordered at a stadium and had multiple people ask me where they could get it. I was so impressed that I came back another time to try the Big Papa Deluxe burger, which was also very good. The two patties were cooked well, still very juicy and well-seasoned, with super fresh, flavorful pickles, a solid secret sauce, all served up on a notably tasty grilled brioche bun. Stopped in for a bite to eat after visiting a friend at the hospital. My husband and I split a Roadhouse Burger and the Angry Chicken Sandwich. Both were delicious, but the Angry Chicken was our favorite! We also got the French fries, which were hot and seasoned well. Only downside is we almost didn't find the place. Always a pleasure coming to this establishment. It's never too overwhelmingly busy probably because I come for later morning/lunch hours. The service is efficient during those times. Bun Papa has excellent healthy sized burgers such as the classic cheese burger (cheddar cheese and all the LTOP fixings Mayo and ketchup on Brioche). There's also "secret sauce" kinda like thousand island dressing. Also an AMAZING chicken sandwich. Freshly crispy and savory and juicy. Good waffle fries also, the poutine is okay , I don't think I care for the cheese curds personally. The cheese fries are advertised on the app as shoestring fries, but a lot of reviewers mentioned getting waffle fries, so I expected waffle fries. I need these people to get it together bc I didn't receive shoestring fries, nor waffle fries, but breakfast potatoes! Diced breakfast potatoes with chili and cheese only on the top. Everyone knows you have to layer the fries, cheese, chili, and repeat. Instead, they just made all the potatoes on top soggy, and everything underneath was dry. The chicago dog is a very specific hot dog on a very specific bun. This place missed the mark. And why was my hot dog mushy?! I took one bite out of the burger and threw it away. I can't even comment on the flavor bc by the time I got to it, I was just too disappointed to continue the meal. Bun Papa is small carry out in NOVA. The staff was really friendly and up beat. It's located in a shopping plaza, the large plaza sign says bread company but the window sign say Bun Papa. They operate in the same place. So I had the chili cheese fries. They are waffle fries smothered in chili and cheese. They were pretty good, well seasoned and filling. If I have any suggestions I'd say ask for extra cheese (ima cheese girl though so take that with a grain of salt lol). Been to this place a few times and every time seems to be an experience. Quality is the standard it seems. On every occasion my intentions were to only purchase hot food however it is difficult to leave without purchasing some kind of dessert. They do desserts here, too, and they are eye catching in size and style. Their bakery is on site - Bread and Water Company. This place does American grill food and desserts very well. When I say grill food I mean your usual burgers, hot dogs, cheese fries, etc.. They do these very well. The also serve fried chicken sandwiches which in my opinion is one of the best in the DMV. It seems many restaurants now, including chain fast food restaurants, have a hallmark chicken sandwich which claims to be the best among the rest, however I think Bun Papa is right in that conversation as one of the top fried chicken sandwiches in the DMV. Their baked goods are perhaps unsung. At least as I perceive it. Their cakes are exceptional and reasonably priced by the slice and whole. Everything here is in moderate to large portion. Service is fast and friendly. I've been a few times now, and it's normally pretty good. I do recommend it, but I'm also not sure what happened with my burger the last time. The chicken sandwich is good, and the burgers are pretty good. However, I ordered the Roadhouse burger and after eating it, I'm not sure what they made it with. It's supposed to have fried onions on it...yeah, that wasn't on it at all. I'm not exactly sure what I ate, but they weren't onions. It's like they had some old fries sitting around, they chopped them up, fried them again, and put them on top. I have no idea...could have been double fried air for all I know. I visited this past weekend with my husband for his birthday. It is located inside of The Bread and Water Company (which I haven't ordered their baked goods yet). Even though the establish is open early, they don't "open" Bun Papa until 3:00pm, so be sure to be cognizant about the time. Those behind the counters (unsure if they are workers only or the owner) we really nice and patient with our ordering. The fries were solid! I wish they were hotter but I was still happy with them. They had a spice on them, and many dipping sauces to choose from to go with it, however, they were solid enough that you did not need a dipping sauce! The chicken sandwich was cooked really nicely! The skin was crispy enough and you could taste the seasoning as well as see it! It was not spicy to me at all, so even if you can't take heat, this is very bearable. I actually wish it spicier. The star to me was the burger! I love that each sandwich comes with two patties. The bread also tastes like it's made in house! Very juicy patties. Now to the Chicago Dog. I actually wouldn't order this again. I was told by the nice gentleman behind the counter that it was up for an award, but I unfortunately didn't care for it. I will, however, be open to trying a different dog next time. With all the downs, there was significantly more ups and the food was really good. This is a 4.5 for me, so I went with 5 instead of 4! I'll have to be honest though, it's really hard to be a stand out burger place, just because there are so many options in this world. I ended up getting the Classic burger which was solid. I would think the star of the burger was the bun. It was like a nice brioche type bun and did not necessarily get soggy even during the car ride home. My s/o got a chicken sandwich that looked pretty good as well. He ate it so quickly that I was not able to get a taste! We also got a side of chili cheese fries. I wish the waffle fries were a little crispier as it seemed like they were a little under. My biggest complaint was the wait time. From ordering to coming out of the place, it took a really long time. My s/o was the one who went inside while my dog and I were hanging out in the car. I went to Bun Papa based on the reviews and I will have to try it again before forming my full opinion. First I was about 5 minutes late picking it up, they kept everything under heat lamps so it was still warm but not hot. When I got to the restaurant they greeted me and were very friendly throughout my time picking up my food, A+ for service. I tried the fries when I got the the car, definitely want to try them again fresh but they were your average fry, perfectly fine but nothing spectacular. I did like the spicy ketchup although I wished it would have come with two instead of one since I ran out halfway through the fries. I got the BYO with lettuce, tomato, pickled onions, and special sauce. The burger itself was good, I'm still tasting the brioche bread and I'm glad they toast it because the top bun especially was a little bready. The bottom bun did fall apart about halfway through and could have been a tad thicker to hold up to the burger. If they cut the top a little thinner and the bottom a little thicker I think it would have been the perfect ratio.
