The bikes were so close together and during Covid it was a challenge to workout on the bikes. I was promised that there would be new bikes -- instead they just kept putting more equipment around the bikes, making it harder to get around. The steam room never worked and was promised a sauna -- ever happened. Then the duct tape started appearing on the equipment. It is standard in all gyms that people wipe down the machine after use -- and here there is no sign, and way too many people do not wipe the equipment after use.

Now I bring my own towels to Planet Fitness, and for under $20 I'm getting the same workout and a (much) cleaner shower. I too have pics of mold in SSAC showers, which I took to the front desk when they questioned it. In the end, SSAC was able to charge my card for months though I stopped going. It was my fault, because I'm bad about canceling memberships or returning things at stores. But then finally my card expired and when SSAC couldn't get more from it, I received an obnoxious, over-the-top letter from a lawyer. No doubt, they're technically in the right ("per the agreement"), but after years of patronage, legal threats strike me as bad form. It would have been better to ask if there was a reason I left, and whether they might do anything to bring me back.

The pool section is my personal favourite aspect of this YMCA. Jeremy the Aquatics Director and the Head Life Gaurd Kevin are true professionals and a general pleasure to work with. It is way more affordable than other gyms on…read morethe South Shore and is independently owned, which is what initially attracted me to the facility. But more importantly, the owner and her staff are fantastic. They are so nice to my 3 year old son. They are patient and kind and I trust them 100% to take care of my son. They have a ton of classes on their schedule to accommodate families with even the busiest schedules. For little ones like my toddler, the lessons are more about gross motor, balance and coordination skills rather than actual gymnastics moves though they do actually sprinkle in some actual gymnastics stances even for the little guys. They also have two free play times each week that any member can attend so that the kids can get exercise more than just on their class day. During the winter months I worry about my son getting enough exercise, so this is a real plus in my eyes. Tumble Fun also hosts birthday parties and sometimes have "kids nights out" where they take care of the kids in the evening, let them play in the gym and give them treats to eat. Oh, and they have a bouncy house INSIDE the gym! I think that's totally cool. :) So to summarize, this gym rocks! Sign your kids up for the next session. You won't regret it.
