5 stars for the staff! Had an incredible experience due to a staff member's level of service. He was exceptionally kind, very helpful, and so accommodating. We moved tables before ordering from inside to outside, and he made it happen with a smile on his face. Despite a big group, he was attentive and kept a friendly demeanor the entire time. I don't think I have had this friendly of a server in a very long time. Kudos to this staff member who is the reason why I'm writing this review! Plenty of seating, indoor and out. This is an amazing place! The food was SO well done , I ordered a hamburger medium and got that exact thing. That was different from other restaurants. The service was spot on . We had two little kids with us and they were so patient with us. This bar/ restaurant was so perfectly decorated. It was chill , relaxing but also able to be a party place! It was underwhelming. This place used to be great but the portions have shrunk to the point of being laughable. My burger was OK but much smaller than it used to be with about 8 fries with it. My son had the chili burger that had a very little cheese or chili with it - called a "Burger Island"(called this because there was "so much" chili and cheese on it - that it needed to be eaten with a fork as indicated on the menu - no utensils were needed lol). Waitress was nice but it took a very long time to get served because it was only her and a cook there. We could hear the yelling and swearing the kitchen for nearly the entire time we were there. Burgers were served raw so that the cook could come back out of kitchen to flirt with patron. Yelled at us when we sent the burgers back and then threw the plates onto the table when the food we returned. When we objected to his attitude, he threw us out. Meh, nothing to write home about, Old lettuce, mushy old tomatoes, over cooked small portion of chicken with no flavor. Also asked if the jalapeños were fresh and not pickled, she said fresh...they were pickled and gross on a salad. When I opened the box to check I said the jalapeños are pickled and she just pretty much said oh yeah well and walked away. Our waitress served all tables around us as we waited for entrees and never came to update us or check in. Each of these tables finished their meals and cashed out before our entrees even arrived. In the end, we basically sat around for an hour until we gave up and took our food to go (though we only asked for boxes with our food, not for a to-go order). Finally, there are bugs in my salad :)! Not implying causation whatsoever, but I'll mention that we did happen to be the only people of color in the building- take that as you will haha. We came here after cocktails at Weiss, deciding a burger was just what we needed. We'd talked to a Clawson couple at Weiss who basically shrugged when we mentioned it, saying, it's ok. Burgers were decent, not 'the best I've ever had', maybe it was a seasoning issue? Tator tots were awesome, very crispy & hot. Decent beer selection. Our server was wonderful, on top of it, friendly. I came for takeout because dine in is shut down for the next three weeks. One thing that stood out to me was the person who cashed me out seemed like she was really grateful for me to be there. Like me choosing this takeout spot was helping them and it reminded me how important it is to support small businesses. That really made me feel good that I choose this spot. Now to the food, it was fast! I placed my order and they told me 5-10 minutes! I was starving so this was exactly what I wanted to hear. I ordered the slider basket with cheese fries, mozzarella sticks, and the Russell Street burger. The mozzarella sticks came with 8 sticks, I didn't care too much for them. They were good, not the best I've had. The Russell street burger my boyfriend got and he absolutely loved. It was flavorful and HUGE! The waffle fries with it were amazing as well! Seasoned perfectly and just makes you want more. I ordered the slider basket which consisted of three sliders (they were the size of my palm each) with cheese, pickle, and onion. The sliders were so fresh and delicious! I ordered cheese fries to go along with it and they were not my favorite either, so I recommend the waffle fries instead. What a truly unique find. Distinctively Detroit based eatery where the burgers and sandwiches are named after streets and areas of the motor city. A couple of old friends met us here on Tuesday. Tuesday being a special 1/2 off night. With every drink purchase you get 1/2 off burgers and sandwiches. Everyone ordered something different and all were overly satisfied. My Gratiot burger (named for a major road running through the city and the suburbs) was loaded with shrooms, bacon, swiss, cheddar and a fried egg. Tater tots and a cold one made for a meal almost to big to finish. Mrs. E. reports a success with her Heart Plaza burger (Hart plaza next to the river, downtown). This large soy burger comes with your choice of one of four cheeses. The option of French fries, seasoned fries, waffle fries, or tater tots wasn't appealing so she braved the onion rings. A wise choice. This is one of a few locations throughout metro Detroit. All are consistent with the master plan. In the warmer weather the outdoor patio is very pleasant. Went on a Tuesday when they have 1/2 off almost 90% of their menu and therefore can't complain too much! The staff was exceptional and easily got a table and service .. ordered the spinach/artichoke dip (which was NOT 1/2 off) and honestly say I've never had this dip in this form before! The interior is a pretty typical "sports bar" setting; lots of TVs, and a mix of high and low top tables with a nice looking bar. Everything appeared to be clean. Service was OK. Our server was nice enough, but very quick to just pass by without stopping to see if we needed anything; we always needed to flag her down so she'd actually stop. Some of the food is sus though... Apps seem to be standard frozen fare, which is to be expected for the most part. The burgers are actually decent; they're not huge and messy, but rather they're easy to eat, made with good ingredients and they have a few unique menu options, which is good to see. They missed big on my wife's chicken sandwich though... The Southern Fried chicken sandwich that she had was FIRST grilled, and THEN fried. The patty was virtually inedible; dry and stringy. Not a great experience... either they were out of the chicken that they'd use to make this OR the cook really wanted to make sure it was cooked through. I had a good time and left happy, but my wife did not, which is a shame because I do like the ambience of this place and they have a decent beer list... I was looking through my bookmarks and this popped up. I threw out the suggestion and she promptly snatched it up. We drove over and were seated immediately. After having a good look at the menu, because they have a great selection of interesting burgers, we decided to have the Woodward Ave (me) and the Vernor(Stella). Loved this place until last night (Halloween). Several things led to this: 1. Waitstaff had no interest in actually taking care of the very few clients in there (busy comparing costumes, talking, etc.) 2. The beer was off tasting, lukewarm. 3. Salad - I have 3 I love here - and rotate. Last night was the Michigan cherry one which...had 3 slices of apple (yes I counted) NO walnuts (I did ask for the menu back to make sure that was part of the salad...figured maybe they removed them because the salad was on special?) - just a couple tiny squares of tomato, lots of lettuce that had grit on it like it wasn't washed and....OH YEA a tiny bit of cheese and dried cherries (guessing 1 tablespoon tops). Basically this was a lettuce bowl with unwashed lettuce. Mind you I've come here for a few years now and normally the salads are spot on. Leaving off a main ingredient? skimping on everything else? My boyfriend's burger was not bad :-) the fries were cold and soggy, beer was warm and bitter. Appears things are going downhill or it was a pretty bad night. Definitely would visit again! I'm already an Old Detroit Burger Bar fan, as I've been to the Lake Orion locations regularly. I didn't even realize there were more til I went to this one near hubby's office. The nicest incident to stand-out was the gentleman who gave each of the kids 50-cents to go play the claw machine. No winners, but we never even give them money to play, so they definitely want to visit again :) The food was great as always. I don't know if I'd ever tried the spinach artichoke dip, but I did during this visit, and enjoyed it. The kids had a burger and chicken strips, and hubby had a burger (his usual, but heck if I can think of the name right now...). Just to remind everyone, they have much more than burgers! Was amazed by the Caesar Chicken wrap. It was delicious and huge. We, a party of four, arrived about 7:00 pm. The only available table was, luckily enough, a low-top that hadn't even been cleared yet. A young lady got right on it and in no time we were seated at a clean table.
