Gotta drop a star on this review due to the rude waitress we encountered today. Jess may need some training in customer service and industry tipping standards as she provided the minimum service today and apparently expected a large tip. She was fine, food and drinks were served timely but there was nothing extraordinary about her standard service that would warrant a higher percentage tip. After paying, as my family and I were walking out, she calls out my father in front of other guests to ask if there was something wrong with her service. He explained he doesn't tip on tax and the alcoholic drinks but otherwise he gave an 18% tip...my brother and I went back and handed her another $10 in cash saying maybe we may have calculated it wrong (didn't) but wanted to be nice and handed her the cash...she proceeded to complain further and didn't offer any thanks. Absolutely great place! Beautiful older building with great service and delicious food! We started the evening with the bbq pork nachos, a Stiflers mom lager, which had a mild tropical undertone and a great jalapeno flavor and a berry drink, I can't remember what it was called. The nachos were a great mix of flavors, salty, sweet and tangy. The pork was very tender. For the main attraction we ordered the vegan tacos and the shrimp tacos. I absolutely loved the vegan tacos! So much flavor in every bite! My wife said that the shrimp tacos were great also. After finishing the Stiflers mom I ordered a Puppy Teeth IPA, another great beer! read more

I have eaten here before. Then service here has always been really good. They have a large inside bar and one outside as well. Plenty of seating in and out and can easily accommodate groups. There is actually a room that can be easily used for a private group setting. Today we had a dog with us so we ate out in the patio. We were not the only ones with dogs. At least two other couples brought their furry friends with them. Yay! My husband ordered a beer and we split a salad and a side of Brussels sprouts. The Brussels here are excellent and the side is plenty and only 5 bucks. We chose the southwestern salad. Its what I usually get. Lits of sliced chicken, fresh avocado, beans, corn, tomatoes and the perfect amount of cheese. They make their own dressing and their ranch is so good. My favorite part about this place is the dogs all over the walls & they have a cork board that you can bring pictures of your own dogs and hang up there! I got the Korean steak tacos and I'm still dreaming of the taste, it was a-ma-zinnggg!!! My husbands fish was thick and full of flavor & the crunch of the batter was perfect. Wonderful outdoor patio, it was too hot when we visited but there was plenty of seating inside. We stopped in for lunch to grab a beer and some food. We opted for the half salad and half sandwich which we always enjoy and the chicken salad was so unique and delicious. I've been here a few times and keep meaning to leave my review. There's no time like the present! My husband and I stopped in last night and took our seats at the bar. We were promptly greeted by the lovely bartender, Linda. She was super friendly and quick with service. We weren't quite sure what we wanted to drink so she gave us some beer samples to try as we contemplated our selection. I opted for the Nor'Easter which is a juicy IPA. Very good! For dinner, I ordered the Classic Burger with Parmesan fries--super yummy! The decor in this place is Farmhouse style and all about the 4-legged floofs that we all know and love-- hence the name "Old Dog". It's a great vibe with a nice menu selection. My daughter loves the Steak Frites, and my husband raves about the Fried Shrimp Tacos. There is something for everyone. In the Summer, enjoy your beverage and meal on their covered patio! Last night was a real treat with getting an added history lesson of the building, which is one of the originals to D-town - which was founded in 1808. Linda even shared a ghost story with us and added its how one of their beers got her name (Rosa's Haze)! This brewery has been the most successful business to exist since it was The Little Brown Jug. A solid 3 stars - our server was in training and had a trainer with her, so they were overly attentive and checking on us a bit too frequently, but thats not the worst. Went with a friend on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30pm - I had a Ace Cider, a side Caesar salad (fresh lettuce, good croutons, light on dressing. was much better once I got extra dressing to give it flavor), and the crispy shrimp app. The shrimp was good sized, minimally drizzled with the pao sauce which is where the flavor was, and a flavorless "house slaw" as the base. The shrimp was a little bit over fried, but the dish would of been flavorless without the pao sauce. Also ordered two cookies - chocolate chip and a fruity pebbles. The chocolate chip was alright, and the fruity pebbles cookie sucked and is still sitting in a to go box in my car, and will soon meet the trash. I certainly would never order dessert catering from here based on my purchase. It's a pretty restaurant, appeared fairly clean and wasn't too crowded feeling. Employees were very nice and smiley, but the food isn't enough of a draw to have me returning. I really am not a beer drinker, so cannot comment on the actual brew portion of the brewery, but my friend liked 4 of the 5 beers she had. I've been to Old Dog Alehouse before, and I've always liked it, so when I was nearby with a friend I suggested we check it out again. We called ahead to make sure we could get a table and they put us on the waitlist from the phone. When we arrived our table was ready, and the place was pretty packed. We were greeted quickly by the waitress, who told me their menu recently changed, and there were several things I was interested in checking out. Including lots of vegetarian and gluten free option. However, when I found out they had gluten free Mac and cheese I had to have it. I'm so glad I did because it was delicious! Thick noodles, and so cheesy! The side salad I got was great also. My friend LOVED the salmon dish- he said it was the best he'd had in awhile. Service was wonderful, a really nice beer selection and a cute place overall. read more

The only reason I didn't rate Old Dog Brewery 5 stars is because, I felt, the service on the patio is not attended to by the wait staff as quickly. She was friendly and helpful when she was outside. Great patio for people watching, we went on a Thursday night and the place was full. I definitely recommend making a reservation before going. Our server was great! For apps we ordered the miso Brussels sprouts and the giant soft pretzel, they were both wonderful. I ordered Fish and Chips for my entree, with a side of their miso slaw. My husband got the fish tacos. Both entrees were really good, my husband said my fries were the best he ever had. We were both really impressed with the food and will definitely be back. Old Dog Alehouse is a newer brewery. It's in Delaware. There were already a few there before this. It's a pretty good competitor. They also have better food. I had the Jetta's Flying Snot. It's $6 for a pint. This is an IPA style. It's not extremely hoppy like many of this kind. They are still kind of new so there's not that many beers of their own. Many on tap are from other breweries. That's understandable. Food is much better than at a typical brewery. They have a small menu with some healthier options. I had a vegetable wrap. It's about $11 and comes with fries. They season the fries with Parmesan but you can leave it off. It looks pretty big inside. It has the bar area plus another large seating area. There's another counter you can watch them make your food for you. read more

My favorite brewery on this leg of the Ale Trail. Nice location off the main strip that includes an outside bar (closed when cold). Pleasant interior and friendly employees. Patrons at the bar were friendly as well. I tried a beer called "Stiffler's Mom." It had a spicy kick to it but was not on the menu. Delicious. We sampled a few others as well. Delaware apparently has DORA which allows you to bring drinks from bar to bar. Looking forward to stopping back up in the spring for the patio/bar. read more

I'm a fan - I've been following their social media posts for what feels like months and have loved watching the owners transform this old building and bring it to life! Their interior is a mix of industrial/modern that meets rustic farmhouse and it works. They were super busy when we went due to it being the kick off of "Home for the Holidays" in downtown Delaware. We put our name on the long list and stood at the bar to order drinks. There's limited waiting room area so I'd encourage you to try to snag a standing spot at the bar to get away from the door. They have a nice mix of cocktails, wine and beer and also feature some "specialty" options on a chalkboard which I feel like must change (although I'm not sure how frequently). I appreciated that the bar has a wall in the middle of the horseshoe so you're not awkwardly staring at the folks across the way. I could tell some guests around us were getting anxious with the time it was taking to get their food or pay the bill, but I think we can probably chalk it up to how extremely busy it was. Before our name was called for a table, we were able to take some seats at the bar. We hurriedly put in an order for the Pesto Pistachio Flatbread...only to be told later on they were out :( We then ordered the hush puppies which were fried just right and the insides were soft but not mushy. The rosemary vinegar that they're served with is also very tasty. For dinner, I ordered the Pear and Gorgonzola Steak salad - it was huge! I ordered the steak medium and about half of it was cooked that way, the other half was well. It also was only sort of warm..I guess I expected it to be hot but I could be wrong. My husband had the Pistachio Pesto Chicken Panini which he said was one of the best he's ever had. To drink, he had the Old Dog Alehouse IPA (or whatever it was called - something like that) which he said was good but he preferred whatever the second option that he got on draft was. I had their version of the Old Fashioned, it was a little smaller than others that I've had but the flavor was very good and not too sweet. The prices were a little high on beer but normal for cocktails ($7 on average) and seemed a little high for some things on the menu but not all. The interior was very open and I loved the mix of exposed brick and farmhouse decor. I'm looking forward to visiting with my pups on the patio in the summertime. All of the staff members were encountered were very friendly, knowledgeable and kind - despite the craziness of the evening. I get prices going up, but portion sizes going down at the same time isn't ok. Their charcuterie board is $25 and generally comes with a pretzel the size of your head as the main thing. This dish is also on the gluten free menu-you just order it without the pretzel. Cool, cool, but they don't sub anything in-nor do they reduce the price. Chicken salad portion did not even cover the bun. The waitress described it as a normal mayonnaise chicken salad; however, it wasn't at all. Apps and main dish came out at the same time. When we mentioned that the timing wasn't great, they sent over a manager without asking if we wanted to see a manager who said "sorry the kitchen is quick today" which isn't a real apology. Waitress avoided our table after the food was delivered even though she was wonderful up to that point...guess she thought we were mad. Menus were dirty and sticky. They do have a good gluten free menu, their gluten free bun is awesome, and the patio atmosphere is amazing. Food was overall over priced and not impressive. read more
