First time visit and we ordered burgers which too way too long to get and when they finally came out they were cold, dry and didn't really have any flavor. Blue cheese wasn't even melted on the burger! The owners were onsite and when they asked what we thought my husband explain everything and she proceed to disagree with him and walked away! I've been there a few times, always good food and excellent service, but in this occasion I was disappointed to find that my favorite sandwich, the "Micky Fried Bologna" sandwich is no longer offered their. Not a bad stop if you have the time. Stopped on a Saturday afternoon. Not very busy, maybe 4 or 5 tables with people and a few at the bar. One waitress was working very hard to keep up. She was doing a great job, but there was more to do than one person could handle. Most of the food was very good, not great. Homemade quality on potato skins and hand cut fries were highlights. Bologna sandwich was good on fresh grilled bread. Chicken wings were over cooked and dry. Place is kept dark to add to the bar feel. Prices were fair. read more

The beer is ice cold and the food is delicious! We had been out hiking and were starving and this place did not disappoint. We went on recommendations by the server and glad we did. We went with the boneless wings which were crisp huge pieces of tender juicy white meat. The traditional wings were also meaty, crisp and delicious. I highly recommend both! We also chose the pretzel bun chicken sandwich with cole slaw and swiss cheese. Again the chicken was tender and juicy and the flavors were amazing! 1824 had a good selection of craft beers on draft! I'm the type of person that picks a hair out of his food and keeps eating so I'm not a picky eater by any means. My pick up order was 23 minutes late, Im not 100% sure but I think they completely missed my online order and realized when I showed up asking for my food. The waitresses seemed frazzled and running around, the bartender(who helped me get my food) was pleasant and apologetic. She offered me a drink while I waited which I declined. The place was like your typical small town bar, dart boards, tvs, and dirty. I watched the big guy with the white beard in the back prepare food with his bare hands while I was waiting for my food. After all of this, I still tipped for my pick up order. I usually love smaller locally owned diners, bars, and eatery's but this was the first meal I've ever thrown away. We moved to centerburg about 2 years ago and were happy to see that we had a local pub to enjoy and first couple of visits were good. In the last 3 months I have been there 3 times and admittedly were busier bar days (CFP, SB, March madness) and everytime I was in there no less than 1.5-2 hours waiting on food and drinks. When the food finally does come it's pretty good but temperature of food might indicate that it had been sitting for awhile. I perplexed why food that is relatively easy and quick takes so long. Staff has been friendly but absent at times but never gives us a heads up about a wait. Not sure the solution but glad we're approaching build a brew season so I can go elsewhere for dinner food here in town. read more

My husband and I are so happy that Centerburg finally has a pub! We get sick of having to drive to Polaris or Westerville if we want to go out for drinks, so when we heard this was coming in we couldn't wait! We have been here several times and the food never disappoints. The Black and Bleu Burger is to die for. They also have a nice little outside area with tables and cornhole, great for summer nights. They don't serve liquor here due to the local law - but the beer is still good and they have a lot of options. The 1834 beer is also so amazing, highly recommend. My only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that they really should upgrade the tables and chairs, they give the place a run down feel if you really look at how dingy they are. read more

My wife and I have been here three times within the last month. All times service has been good and the food has been excellent. The owner makes suggestions as well as coming to your table to check on his suggestions, he also thanks you for coming in. The little things matter. Brewski is always ice cold and a nice selection. We had the 3 cheese Buffalo chicken pasta this week which was amazing if you like a little spicy kick. This would be a nice regular on the menu. HINT HINT! We will continue to be regulars and hope he keeps the beer icy cold and the small menu full of quality and flavor. Nice for the "Burg"! read more

The owners are extremely friendly and came around to check on us to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Jason (the owner) made a few suggestions of items we should try and everything he suggested tasted amazing. The pickle bites with homemade dipping sauce are amazing. The burgers are fresh locally sourced beef. Our burgers were cooked perfectly and tasted great. Their onion rings and beer battered fries are a terrific side to compliment a burger. They have a nice beer selection. We got their exclusively made cheesecake to-go and cannot wait to try it!!! We will be back!!! So happy to have a great place near us for delicious food and cold beer! read more

Okay, I really want to like this place because there's nothing else around...but I can only go so far. We stopped in early so I will give them a little lead way. They had an okay amount of semi cold beer, but did not care for the 1834 Brew. It was a so called "German Pilsner" but didn't taste it. They did have other tasty tap beers available...but also semi cold. We ordered a combination of pizza and wings because there's no better way to judge a place than that, right? Before I continue, let me reiterate, I really want to like this place, but.... The wings were not fully cooked and light on the sauce. And one thing I can't stand about wings is when they come out with the bones broken, this screams FROZEN!!! So I suffered through the wings but knew the pizza was soon on the way and really, what could go wrong with pizza??! Well, to be kind, the pizza was not one that I would order again. It obviously had been frozen, and probably for some time prior to my order. Like I said, I really want to like this place so I will try it again sometime in the future because some places have off days, right? Until then, 2 stars because I'm feeling generous. read more

This place is fantastic! The fried Bologna is best I've ever had. Wings are spot on. Top that off with their 1834 Brew and you'll have a great night. On the site it showed that the restaurant closed at 10pm but the kitchen closed at 9pm. They weren't clear and it took away half the menu.

I posted about 1834 a couple of months ago and I would like to give an update on the status...it's still 5-star in my opinion. Nothing has changed since my last review as to the awesome service that is given there and the menu continues to expand with more delicious items and specials. The business seems to be thriving better than any that have been there before, over the last 25 years. But this review is not about that. I wanted to give the owners of 1834 kudos for their community outreach. Back in late summer, 1834 was approached by the athletic director to see if they would be willing to sponsor "a" team meal for the football team. Jason asked how many games there were and when told there would be at least 10, he said he would take them ALL! Who does that? Someone that not only has a good heart but wants to be established and successful in this community. By him doing this, it saved parents a tremendous amount of time and money to get meals put together every Thursday night. I've heard the football players have devoured the meals so far. This isn't the only thing he and his lovely wife have done for the community and I'm sure they will continue to give to this community, hopefully for years to come. For those of you who have been there, thank you for your patronage and please, spread the word. For those who have not been there yet, what's holding you back? Let's support the 1834 family who supports our kids and community! By the way I highly recommend "The Mickey" and make it a "Tavern style". read more

Went there for the first time last night and will definitely be back. The owners and staff were super friendly and made us feel very welcome. The beers were icy cold (which isnt always the case at some places). We had just eaten so we didn't order off the menu, but heard the food is really good!! I've gone here once before with my family and it was great. Great food, it was delicious. But this second time that we went, we had 2 pork chop, broccoli, and baked potato meals. We did not receive any of the potatoes! Disappointing and the meal was not filling enough without the potato. There was not very much sauce on the wings nor was the broccoli easy to eat. The broccoli was too tough. Otherwise it's a good place to go, but you may leave without some of your food if you do carry out. read more
