My husband and I decided to come here for lunch while visiting the area due to the many positive reviews it received. While the cracked conch and remoulade were really good, I was not impressed with the shrimp and grits at all. It was not what I would think of when I think of shrimp and grits...the grits were suspended in what appeared to be a dark broth (like gumbo, maybe) with so many peppers that the flavor overpowered the dish. I could not taste the Parmesan cheese because the broth and peppers were so overpowering. The shrimp were not the large, succulent kind I am used to getting in Florida; rather, they seemed frozen. To make matters worse, I found not one but two hairs in my shrimp and grits. When I politely let the server know, she seemed horrified and offered to replace the dish, which I turned down as I really wasn't enjoying it anyway. For some reason, the service became much less friendly and more rushed after the hairs turned up in my dish. I do appreciate that the dish was taken off the bill, but I would have appreciated an offer of dessert or another dish, as I really only got to eat 2/3 of my lunch before finding the hairs. Old Florida literally left me hungry and wanting more. I would not return. read more

What a pleasure to find a Florida place that has good food, reasonable prices, good drinks, and delivers good service. If you want fine dining this is not the place. But having eaten at a few of South Florida's fine dining restaurants, I was really in the mood for something good but much easier on the wallet and my bulging waist line. This was the perfect choice. You can sit inside or outside. It was too cold for us outside. A pitcher of margaritas for $10? How can that be bad! We had the tuna poky which was lovely. 4 families went there Sunday evening. 5 adults and 4 kids. Service was pretty good initially when we got there. We ordered 4 appetizers 2 of which were calamari and wings. The wings were good but the calamari was just ok. I ordered encrusted yellowtail which was a large portion but dry and no seasoning. I wouldn't order it again. The real problem started when my friend was ordering her dinner and repeatedly asked the waitress if it was gluten free since she has a gluten disease. The waitress assured her that she spoke to the kitchen and it would be ok. The dish she ordered had a rice side and as we were eating my friend noticed that it had a weird grain in it. The waitress tells her it's ride pilaf with orzo which is a pasta and turns out is not gluten free after all. The menu never indicated rice pilaf. My friend understandably gets upset at the situation and waitress who apologizes saying that she didn't know it was gluten free and that she told the kitchen and they assured her. The manager comes over to see what's wrong and after we explain he proceeds to say to my friend "well sweetheart we don't know much about that disease and that they aren't responsible." I say "What do you mean you aren't responsible? If someone had a peanut allergy you wouldn't serve them peanuts would you? You could kill someone! As a restaurant you are responsible to ensure that your wait staff is properly trained to deal with these types of situations to prevent illness." The sweetheart comment was condescending. He ends up leaving the table and comps the meals. Our friends leave very upset and angry since she knows that her misery will start within minutes. Since that night my girlfriend has experienced severe stomach cramps, dizziness, chills etc as though she has a stomach virus and flu which will be accompanied by severe fatigue for several months. I would expect that a restaurant establishment should do their research and if they are not aware of specific illness that their waitstaff and management should ask key questions to their customers and work with kitchen staff in ensuring customer safety and satisfaction. This establishment clearly needs do their research. My advise to customers with allergies is to either stay away from there or to ask many questions before ordering. I would not recommend. read more

We were in town for the FHSAA Lacrosse State Championships and figured we would find a place unique to Jupiter instead of the normal chain type places. After reading reviews on Yelp I suggested this place to friends and we decided to make a reservation as we were 9. We arrived at 5 and our table was waiting and we were seated immediately. The cracked conch appetizer was incredible and highly recommended! Also the shrimp Poboy was another amazing dish that is highly recommended. We went to Old florida Bar and Grill because of the Yelp ratings. We were not disappointed. We sat on the patio. Yes, Indiantown Rd. Does not help the ambiance but the patio and bar were lovely and they had a terrific singer. I had the coconut almond encrusted snapper and my husband had blackened mahi mahi. We both loved our fish. Fresh and enhanced by the preparation. Its definitely on our list of come back restaurants. And, our server, Ashley, was fabulous. read more

Food is creative however we had stale chips with our fish dip. The fish dip was used as the "glue" to hold the fried tortilla shell in place which was cute but it was dried out and was very unappetizing. If it was just for decoration, fine but it's food and all things on the plate should be edible. SO had the poke and he was very unhappy as he said the tuna was rubbery and tasted old. He ate the shrimp after and said he still had the bad taste of the tuna in his mouth. We both liked the shrimp/eggplant appetizer but thought the tails should be removed before plating. We went here after a recommendation from a friend and we were so happy they did! We got the conch fritters and cracked conch for appetizers and they did not disappoint. The cracked conch was the best any of us have had in the area. I mean so buttery, so soft, moist, not chewy at all and the breading was perfectly seasoned. The conch fritters were awesome perfectly seasoned and just the perfect Florida flavor. We are so picky about Fl dishes and all 6 of us are Florida natives. We had the fish and chips, fried grouper, the Fl bowl, and grilled Mahi. The fish and chips was awesome perfect breading, great flaky fish, and the seasoning was amazing. The Fl Bowl was so tasty, the scallops were perfectly cooked, the shrimp was awesome and the sauce was simply superb. The grouper and Mahi were cooked to a tee. They were both cooked so moist and well. The seasoning again was perfect. I am so glad that we took a chance because the restaurant that used to be here was awful and this one is amazing. Five stars given in regard to comparable restaurants in the area. Service: Hostess is friendly and greets you with a smile. We have been there six times, since they opened. Service has been attentive, friendly and professional. The servers know the food and describe it well along with offering suggestions. Laurel and Maria Denise have even remembered us upon subsequent visits ! Bartenders make great drinks, unlike some other restaurants in the area where there they charge more money and dilute the drinks. Service gets five stars! Food: The flash fried cracked conch is beyond tender, not greasy and a large portion. The oven roasted shrimp appetizer was plentiful, seasoned well and cooked firm, perfect! Fish dip was smaller and came with crackers and vegetables. While it was not a large portion, it was very tasty. The Tuna ponzu is seared and coated with black sesame seeds and served with a light chili sauce. The portion is enough for two people and it is super tender. Coconut chicken fingers were very tender and full coconut flavor served with a not too sweet honey mustard. Conch chowder is tomato based and wonderful. Dolphin Reuben was grilled and tender. Nothing gourmet, but very good quality. Backyard burger was juicy, cooked as ordered. The fries are crunchy and seasoned well. They do not over salt their food, thank goodness! Decor: Very casual, televisions all over, live music outside. A bit noisy inside, when it is busy. We live in Jupiter and I think OFBG will be a nice addition to the food options we have in town. My wife and I both had the burger. We were in the mood for a big burger and we got it. The fries are a bit different with a different outside than regular fries. They were good. The burger's were very good, albeit slightly dry. I got mine medium rare because most places over-cook burgers. I honestly would say my burger was a medium which is kind of how I play the game. Not a reason to not come back that's for sure. The wait staff has been commented on previously and I must say they were attentive, friendly and seemed to care. That is becoming more rare these days. read more

Went here on a whim right before xmas. Sat down with a friend, ordered a beer - well poured and friendly waiter. Ordered fish and chips and fell in love with the place. Fish was fresh and fried well. Chips were hot, flavorful and done right. Waiter disappeared for a while but the food was good. Ordered plantains and they were absolutely charred on the outside, but great on the inside. We used to frequent the Tiki bar in Riviera Beach and when we read it was the same chef/staff we had to try it. It's located in a plaza with outside seating but limited to no cover from the sun. So we sat inside, clean, new and has an upscale sports bar atmosphere. The staff was attentive and very friendly, my only problem was getting Splenda with our tea. She would bring out a couple of packets each time we asked instead of just filling the container. Little things like that drive me nuts. We order a half pound burger, which by the time it got to us was more 1/4lber. It was cooked perfectly with a thick bun and the fries were great. Mango habenaro wings were spicy and crispy (make sure you ask for crispy), good. All we needed were some wipes to clean up, again little things. I ordered the chicken with brie, which I loved at tiki. It was cooked perfectly, the only issue was the onions. They weren't cooked, instead they were raw. They should be sauted to go with the chicken, seemed lazy. So overall we liked it, the food seemed about the same but we do miss it being on the water. read more

This was my 2nd trip to Old Florida B&G after our charter trip w/ Mystic Rose. They provided the recommendation to take our fresh catch and have the chef cook it up for us. They do a fantastic job w/ recommendations, sides and SERVICE! We'll back every time we are in town. I believe Kathleen was our server on Sunday. She is AWESOME and took great care of us. We spoke to the manager for a while and even met the creator of this terrific pepper sauce they provided, Blackie's Best. D-Lish. Visited with my wife for first time on a cold Jan evening and we were unable to enjoy outside dinning. However they had heaters and open tables if you wished to brave the cold. There were several diners braving the elements and enjoying the experience. We chose to enjoy the warmth of the inside and we were glad to do so. Great service and pleasant staff greeted us for a very enjoyable evening. My wife ordered a steak salad and I ordered the fish tacos. Service and food exceed expectations. The only problem we encountered was there is a high noise level in the building. The main bar was inside and there were a lot of folks at the bar having a good time. The next visit we hope to sit outside. Food and service is very good. Encourage anyone to give this place a try. read more

This is not a place that I would have known about if it was not for the locals. One of my girlfriends picked this local hang out for a small birthday gathering. Having not spent much time in this area of Jupiter, I was excited to check out something new. Goggle maps led me right into the parking lot, where there is plenty of spots for people. This is nice because I don't like being forced to park valet. The restaurant has a large outdoor patio and bar. The outdoor bar would be great to watch football and have a few drinks because the cocktails are cheap. Double Tito's for $7.00 is a steal in this area of south Florida. I was a little late to the party, but I promptly had the waitress come over and take my order. I ordered a flat bread and a cocktail. The flatbread was fantastic. Good flavor, not to heavy on the sauce, and just enough portion. The menu is broad with lots of options from fresh fish to soup to cheese steak. Honestly there is something for everyone. I feel it is a family friendly location with an adult vibe. The reason there are only 3 stars on this review is because of service. After 45 mins of ordering my flat bread, the waitress finally came back to the table to check on us. I asked about the food, and she admitted she had forgotten to place my order. I was starving at this point and most of my group was leaving, but I decided to have her put the order in anyway. One of my friends ordered something to make me feel better and stayed with me. I was a bit surprised when my bill came and there was a full charge for the flatbread. I just feel that you should take responsibility for your mistake and either give me a free flatbread or a cocktail. Then I had asked for the birthday girl's cocktail to be placed on my bill. Come to find out so did 4 others in the group. We were all charged for one additional drink and the birthday girl only had two drinks total. So 5 people paid for 2 drinks each separately. Servers were especially slow, although it was early evening around 4:30 pm. They were not overly welcoming to our group. Most people were sitting outside around bar for happy hour.
