Cool Park for toddlers in case they have a park not only that they have a little awning where people host parties and other special events, etc., people from local high schools pull up and play tennis Pickleball all the time. Old Fort Park is a very cool destination if you are looking for a park in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, especially if you have little kids in tow. It is well maintained and when I was here, it was well attended. Not top surprising, as I said, it is a very cool park. read more

Super busy and very clean park! On a nice day, there's a ton of kids here. There's plenty to do for all ages. There are walking trails and clean restrooms which is a must if you have little ones. Definitely one of our go to parks! read more

Old Fort Park - Tennis Near Me - Murfreesboro, Tennessee

It's a wonderful park HOWEVER...parents with older children do not watch their kids. The younger children basically get run over by these bigger children. Parents of older children, watch them please! If you're too lazy or distracted then don't bring them! It's not everyone else's responsibility to correct your children. It's horrible enough we have to shelter and protect our children from yours. Maybe the parks need to have someone watch the parks to better take care of this ongoing issue. I watched parents take their toddlers away from the park because of these obnoxious older kids that were not being supervised at all. We left after 45 minutes because of the same thing. I don't know much about Murfreesboro other than I am constantly in awe of how much it's grown. I recall -- not too long ago -- when the university was the end all be all of why non-residents would flock to the 'boro. That's not the case any more. There are plenty of reasons why folks would jump on 24 and check out what's happening in Murfreesboro. Old Fort Park is one of those reasons. The park itself is a-okay. In the spring/summer, you're probably stopping by to take advantage of the tennis courts (outside and the giant facility on grounds), baseball diamond and/or playground. But the star attraction outside the park is the golf course which leads to the beginning of the greenway. It's always difficult to tell when a park ends and the greenway starts but I think a safe bet is once you've headed over to the golf course, you're leaving the park proper and setting about on an outside adventure. I'm not much of a golfer but I can tell you that the course is visually appealing, with attractive sight lines, rolling hills and wide expanse. It's hard to remember you're in the middle of an urban area when on it. That point of view is heightened when setting course on walking the greenway. It's 30 miles long so don't get your heart set on walking/running the entire way. Give yourself an end point. I've found that the dog park is a good turning around point (when starting at the golf course). With blooming trees, water ways, flowers of all kinds, and an abundance of well-planned greenery, beginning the greenway at Old Fort will give you a Saturday you'll remember. I came to the park to clear my head and soon found myself lost in taking pictures, venturing off on trails and in awe of just how gosh darn pretty middle Tennessee is. One of the great things about our park system is that it can be enjoyed in every season. Do yourself a favor this week: hop on down to Old Fork Park, where some comfortable shoes, bring some water, and take an afternoon to discover how pretty the mid-state is. This is a great park for kids of all ages! Maybe not teenagers, though. haha There is some really innovative play equipment and the whole playground is fenced with only one entrance. My only complaint is ALL 4 of the water fountains are broken. When you take your kids to the park on a 98 degree day, please be prepared with water. Kind of sucks that it's a city-funded park and the water fountains aren't being maintained. read more

This is the best playground in Murfreesboro, according to my 6yo. It's convenient to downtown Murfreesboro, and is right along the greenway, so we make it a destination when we're riding bikes. The playground has several big slides, as well as a lot of stuff for kids to play with and climb on. Also, it's got a large pavilion with bathrooms and water fountains, and several benches and grills scattered throughout. We're there for the playground, but Old Fort also has several athletic fields and tennis courts. The environment feels safe, and the playground is well lit at dusk, which is a big plus if you're looking for a way for the kids to expend some energy before bedtime. :) read more

I usually enjoy taking my kids here because it has really fun equipment for all different ages to play on and there is one swing I can use with my baby to swing together. The only issue I have had was another gate aside from main entrance being left open where I felt one of my children could leave the park since I couldn't watch two exits. read more

If you ask my kids, the play area alone makes this a 5 Star Park. It is large, well maintained, and safe for all ages. Near the playground is the greenway with miles of paved trails for biking, walking, etc. There are restrooms, pavilions, and picnic tables all nearby and also well maintained. We live in south Nolensville, an area severely lacking in parks and greenways (wake up Williamson County Parks and Rec!), so we greatly appreciate the excellent Murfreesboro park system, Old Fort Park most of all. read more

I love the park but that bathrooms are horrendous. It's usually crowded on weekends so I try and go during the week.. most parents are nice and tons of kids of all different ages. My daughter loves the trails too. read more

As far as playgrounds go this is a really wonderful place to bring your kids. It has one of the biggest sections for young kids I've ever seen. One of my favorite parts was my two year old can't find her way to the giant slides because you have to climb ladders and she can't do that yet. The tiny monkey bars meant I did not have to lift 25lbs over my head so my daughter could play like the big kids. Many of the structures and equipment were innovated and a wide range of children would be able to use them. After playing on the park which kept her entertained for over an hour went took to the trials for a nice walk. The paved walkways seem to be taken care of nicely and there was lots of information of us to read about the area. This was our first time at the park so it was really interesting to be able to learn the history of where we were standing. Our walk lasted about 45 minutes where we ended up by the tennis courts. We did not come to play tennis but did notice it was fairly busy and the court seemed in great condition. Overall our trip to Old Fort Park was a hit for my tot and we will be back! read more

I love this park. It's huge and there's lots for your child to do. My son loves to run around trying all the different slides. It's relatively shaded so it's nice even during the summer months. There's a toddler/ baby area and there's also a bigger slide and more obstacles for older kids. read more

These courts are the best I've seen in Middle TN! Open night or day and plenty to go around.
