Been on this boat many times and the crew is fantastic.... except the Captain (Kley). If he doesn't like your setup, he'll tell you in a humiliating way and tell everyone... embarrassing you in front of everyone on the boat. Some people are not as experienced as everyone on the boat and that's why WE inexperienced angles chose to fish here to learn something new. I wished he would have showed me in a nicer way like the other captains. Captain(s) are suppose to help everyone regardless of how much you know about the hobby. It's an expensive hobby and dealing with the parking lot, you're all lucky people still come here and spend their hard earned money. read more

Horrible...everyone working that boat is an asshole unless you're a decent looking girl or kid. The whole crew is simply out there to fish and act like all the paying customers are just in the way. The skipper even told us on our way out the crew will be fishing, nobody working the boat is there for the money, they are there to fish so...don't get in their way. Granted, every cattle boat I've been on is this way but not quite to the degree as this crew. I won't get into the lack of fish brought on board because I get it, bluefin fishing is hit and miss that said, one in my party of 6 caught some fish and paid to have it cleaned and then found out they gave away over half his fish to other people without even asking if it should go to the other members of our party or explaining the situation before asking how he wanted his fish processed. Ridiculous...also, I've heard bad things about this boat but I had people visiting from out of state and this was the only boat with open spots. Now I know why. read more

We drove 5 hours just to be kept standing on the dock while the crew did nothing. The boat didn't have a trip the night before so it sat at the dock all day. We were not given the safety talk as required by US Coast Guard. we motored more than fished and we're back at the dock late after stopping for fuel. Old Glory was our favorite HM boat, not now. Disappointing experience. Just finished an overnight trip on the Old Glory. Scheduled departure time was supposed to be at 9:00 pm. Boat departed well after 10:00 pm. Staff stood around talking and joking for close to an hour before allowing anyone to board. Once on board and in route, the cook began making fries and chicken strips, when customers inquired about purchasing everyone was told that he is cooking for the crew only. After a bit the cook began making meals for a few familiar faces while turning most away. After the boat left the harbor some of the crew mentioned that an expensive buoy was thought to have been stolen so the crew elected to turn the fishing trip into a customer funded recovery operation. After many hours the item was recovered and as a result we reached the fishing areas selected and began fishing around 7:00am. In making up for lost time the captain stopped quickly at a variety of spots for a couple minutes then hurried onto the next. As a result there were limited fish caught. This trip never should have left the dock if the crews focus was on recovery and shortcuts. During the trip we never observed any other fishing boats even close to where we were. Upon returning and reviewing other boats success it was clear the customers weren't the priority. I don't recommend this boat with the current crew. read more

The best fishing experience I have ever had. The whole boat limited out on blue fin and yellow tail. The crew worked their a** off the moment we stepped on the boat. Even if the trip wasn't as good as it was, I would be content with the work ethic they hold!! Definitely going to to plan more trips in the future once my freezer gets low!! read more

This was my first time Tuna fishing and I cannot imagine a better boat to make that happen on. The Captain, Clay, is the fucking man! He fishes hard and is always looking to make you fish better so he can land fish. I can never sleep when I am about to fish so I was on deck at 3am checking my lines. He helped me with the boat casting technique and even let me land one of his fish so I could get a feel for the bite and the fight (and as we say get the skunk off my boat). I mean that is just class right there. Chappie is equally the fucking man! The guy whips up a killer burger. The OG burrito was pretty bomb as well. Keep doing what you are doing fellas! Really well done and great establishment. I will be back for sure. 3.5 day Tuna trip in August with my fishing buddies. Cannot wait! read more

Boat is old and not in great shape. Charged a $20 fuel surcharge then travelled six hour at night only to be 30 minutes outside of San Diego where we started. Crew was inattentive and unavailable when needed (I was fouled around the anchor and after calling for ten minutes with no one responding). Only one crew member available even thru there were three crew members and the captain on board. Bait was poor and unavailable at times. Captain also never gave a safety brief on the location of life preservers or how to evaluate the lower berthing area or location of safety hatches. Food was outrageously expensive ($17 for a cheeseburger). Top it off we didn't catch fish. There are a lot of better boat then the Old Glory don't waste your money. read more

I was very disappointed. A deckhand tried to help my son by tightening the drag which is a big no no. He obviously lost a big fish probably yellow or blue fin. The trip started off with them adding a $20 surcharge for gas. It's understandable because of gas prices but we felt that they should have told us when we made the reservations. It was supposed to be offshore but turned out to be just on the other side of the islands. Bunks were like coffins. The galley was very expensive. Boat was filled to capacity so when the bite went off it was total chaos with very little direction. On the other hand most of the crew and deckhands were very helpful. Unfortunately I don't think I want to try this boat again. read more

I was fortune to land a fish but out 25 people on board we only got 12 fish. There was a whole 8 hours on the water without a single bite. The entire crew was great and the captain helped hook 4 or 5 of the Tuna. One of the deck hands was extremely helpful, thank you Bill for the great service. The was a young kid who was a deck hand by the name of Jesse that was rude and cussed out a few of the customers. He should get fired. I would probably not go on this boat again. read more

Hello everyone. I am here to tell you that Old Glory is hands down the best fishing charter in San Diego, California! I have fished on private and charter boats all over the globe, and I am beyond impressed with the boat, the staff, the fishing, the chef, the tech used and every other aspect of fishing with the Old Glory captain and crew. First off, my buddy and I went during a time of year when the fishing is slowing down. The captain of Old Glory had a wonderful piece of tech that he used to keep his patrons on fish day after day, until the fish had left the area due to water temperature and movement. He had a GPS device on a paddy in which was very productive for the season, and simply returned to his GPS device to catch fish. This was a day and a half trip, so we slept on the way out. The sleeping quarters were clean and easy to rest in as the boat rocked us steadily to sleep on our way out to the spot. Once near the paddy, I awoke to the bustling of the crew readying rods, reels and lines for all the patrons who did not bring their own tackle. They also were kind enough to set up the folks that had their own gear, so that they would catch fish (some people were overly prepared for marlin in winter and their line set ups had to be stepped down to catch yellowtail, tuna and dorado.) There was a couple on their honeymoon, I was on my birthday trip for the big 40, and there were several other guests with special reasons for being there. This trip was in late October, 2018 by the way. I went on deck, was one of the first to grab a set up and a kind gentleman, who I later learned to be the captain of the boat, set up my reel's tension, and baited my hook. I threw it over the side and immediately was hit. After a quick fight I started to see the bright and beautiful color of the first and only Dorado of the day, and the second biggest catch of the day!! A deck hand quickly came with a gaff and pulled the Mahi on board effortlessly. What a great start to the day! After that it was a full day of Bloody Decks!! We had so many fish on the boat, at the end of the day, we could not even keep them all due to legal allowable limits, which is OK, because there were many, many fish caught. I had just about every crew member come over and help me bait and cast into where the fish were located, and as I could not see them until they were caught, I was thankful for the help. Every person on this boat was able to toss a line in the water, and immediately start fighting a fish on the other end of the line because the line drags were set perfectly on every single reel!! Even the chef came out and cast a few in, only to be immediately gobbled up by a hungry blue fin tuna, big eye tuna, yellow fin tuna or yellowtail! At the end of the day I caught 1 Dorado, 10 Bluefin tuna, 6 Yellow-fin tuna, and 4 Yellow Tail!!! I was covered from my belly button down in beautiful fish blood, and the day was marvelous!! The fish were gutted professionally and filleted to perfection. When I got home and grilled up some of the fish it was perfectly tender, un-bruised and without a single gaff hole in the steaks (mostly due to the amazing deck hands on the boat and their flawless gaffing skills)! The chef prepared fresh sashimi with some of the tuna and walked around offering it to all the patrons free of charge, and after all that adrenaline, I could not even sleep on the trip back home, during which, we were able to take some amazing pictures of all the beautiful and delicious death we had created during the day and a half of EPIC fishing!! I would like to say Thank you so much to the entire staff, captain and crew of the Old Glory. I will surely be back soon to kill fish with, hands down, the best and brightest San Diego Sport Fishing has to offer on the decks of the Old Glory! You guys are the best!! If you are looking for a boat to lead you to the fish, this is the one. I have fished most of the charters in San Diego, and have never been impressed enough to leave a review. This was my first time deep sea fishing and I couldn't have imagined this trip being way more than what I expected. Although I got really seasick the crew was very nice and making sure I was ok. They were extremely helpful and patient when it came to fishing. They even helped me snag my first yellowtail which ended up being the second biggest fish on the boat! October the 7th / 8th Went out on the Old Glory for an overnight trip. The day started very slow, only made a couple of stops with little fish. At the end of the day we found a good school of yellowfin and skipjacks. It was frustrating to watch the deckhands fish while paying customers were in need of help. The cook was about the only person helping people. I could have easily caught more fish but I was having to wait for my fish to be gaffed, then after I was the one who had to tag the fish as well. I would not reccomend this boat or crew. The only reason I give two stars is because I came home with fish. read more

It was embarrassing to see a sport fishing boat run over a paddy that a private boater was fishing on while on the way home from a trip. My friend heard the captain talk on the radio and tell that boat they didn't want there F'ng business anyway. Very poor attitudes. I've been on plenty of boats out of san diego. Old Glory is my favorite. Every time I've gone on it, it has been a great trip. You cant guarantee the fish are going to bite, but I can guarantee Capt. Did my first overnight trip on the Old Glory on July 2nd. Captain and crew worked very hard to put us on fish and put us on fish they did. First stop in the AM was thick with yellowtail and all 26 fisherman hooked up at least once. Later we found some yellowfin tuna and later still a few Bonita. I had hoped to bring home at least one fish but happily I had four. A fun trip and worth the coin read more
