Stopped in for dinner on a ln early fall Saturday evening. Upon arriving, we were immediately informed that they would have live music inside that evening (due to rain earlier, it was moved inside) but if we wanted a quieter dinner we were welcome to choose a seat outside on the covered porch. I was impressed straight away by their attention to making sure we had the experience we wanted, whether that was listening to live music or having a quieter dinner. You order at the counter and are given a pager to let you know when to come back and pick up your food. So while there are no servers, we found the staff at the counter to be very helpful and attentive. All of our group ordered the pulled pork, which I found to be good. Their vinegar-based sauce (they have a couple of different options) I found to be good, though I would have preferred something a bit more on the acidic side. Sides were also quite good. The collard greens were particularly exceptional.

Great service. Old country store so the architecture is pretty cool. Food was great and Mac and cheese was spot on.

We came as a large group of 15. We stood in line to order at the counter. Our food came Out quicker than it took to get to the front of the line to order. The food was so good. We tried it all--pulled pork, dry rub wings (amazing), chicken tenders, Brunswick Stew, collard greens, Mac and cheese, fried okra, baked beans, fries. Everything was hot and so so good. They were super crowded on a Sunday afternoon with a live Bluegrass Band. We sat outside on the porch of the folk art store. Perfect day on a cool Autumn day. This would be a fun place to spend the afternoon.

Pretty good bbq with the friendliest service ever! You order at a counter then find a seat, it does get busy! I had the salad with smoked chicken, shared dry rub wings... yumm! My husband enjoyed a meat platter, and our sons pulled pork and tenders. Live music was playing which made our experience more enjoyable! They also have a store attached where you may grab some art or other collectibles!

Stopped here on the way out of Blowing Rock with our camper. Plenty of parking for us to pull in and eat. It wasn't crazy busy for Sunday brunch time. Food was amazing, service was great, and atmosphere was awesome. Definitely worth stopping to eat

This place is awesome, and I highly recommend if you are ever in the area. Very cool country store, live music, nice bar, and restaurant with all the fixins. Easy parking outside. Fast casual order at the bar or restaurant. Tasty BBQ, fried pickles, and a ton of sides to choose from. Friendly staff, and the live music made for an amazing ambiance. Affordable prices, unique experience, and I will definitely be back!

Choose to eat here tonight, which has been normally very good in the past. However, I ordered a Chicken Sandwich w/ side and a Sweet Tea to drink. What I received was two room temperature chicken slices (no bread), and the worst sin was being served severely over priced (7.00) nasty tasting no sugar "sweet " tea. It will be some time before I will attempt to eat there again, there are far too many other restaurants near by that serve far better quality food. Ambiance is amazing, but that only goes so far.

Okay when you have been to Mast General, I have to admit my expectations were very low when we came here for a visit. The product due to covid has been lessened of course so it was sort of spartan. The place is very small and quaint. They have those things you would find at Boutique stores, Local grown honey, Hand made items, Artwork, etc. So on face value this place is lesser than Mast General but, what made this place special that you do not get from Mast the employees, everyone was wearing masks but you could see their "SMILES" in spite of the masks. Go in have a drink(Hot or Could) order some food and sit on the deck and enjoy the fresh air 2 employees in particular Shannon and Rebecca made this place special and because of them we will return again and again. I Wish more places had these type of employees that just make you feel like you come in everyday and you are a regular. Only suggestion the dining room needs a TV (or 2) for Sports! lol Thank you OHS&GM! Happy New Year

We had a lovely lunch with some perfect live music. A trio played guitar and sang. No too loud. The food was perfection. Great Brunswick stew, collards, shredded pork bbq, potato salad. Even the iced tea was extra nice. Lots of pottery and fun odds and ends to buy. Plenty of seating, including some outside. Updated photo of the menu 8/2022. Highly recommend.

What a fun hidden little gem. I can't wait to go back. They have live music inside for your shopping and lunch enjoyment. Out back they have a live music small venue for larger audiences. I've heard the food is good but we didn't eat. Just shopped and sipped! I hope this convinces you to check it out! Enjoy!

Great place to enjoy beer and BBQ while the kids play!

This is a beautiful location inside and out. I love that the kids can play and not disturb anyone or make a mess. The pool park was phenomenal, but the smoked chicken was boring. The collard greens were amazing so was the mac & cheese and okra and Fried pickles

I even had a small bit leftover. We both liked the beans, my friend felt they were a bit heavy on the bell pepper. My friend enjoyed the Mac n cheese. She said that it looks like it comes from a box but does not taste that way. Additionally, we got the hush puppies with our plates. They were very good but I think I would have preferred a roll. The sauces were excellent. I really wanted to ask if they sold them but I didn't see it bottled anywhere so I didn't ask. But you cannot go wrong with either choice. The place is very unassuming. Simple checkered table cloths on the inside with plenty of seating. You give your order at the counter but they bring you the food. The outside metal chairs and tables are in good condition and sit well. They have new umbrellas on the metal tables. They also have long pic nic tables or larger parties. Additionally, it looks like they serve beer and have a selection on tap. Now the bad... Well not even really bad. The place was good. However, the cole slaw didn't have much flavor and I thought it weird that when I paid the receipt asked for a tip. Well, other than bringing me my food, there was no other service. We even cleared our table, so what did I just leave a tip for? Taking my order or giving me my order? ‍ So, hear me out people of Yelp, eat here or Highlander BBQ on Roan Mountain. Skip the fanciness of Southern Craft and come get you a good meal.

The waiter frequently mumbled though, and on multiple occasions I had to ask him to repeat himself as I had no idea what he said. Most of the seating is rustic benches, which fits the image but isn't exactly a comfortable arrangement. I also found myself bothered by the flickering light bulb in the track lighting above my seat. Minor issues, but still part of the experience. My order consisted of the pulled pork tray, macaroni & cheese and baked beans. I assumed there's would be some sort of bread included, perhaps hushpuppies, Texas toast or even cornbread...but that's not the case. The pork was pretty moist but didn't have much smoke flavor. The "Western" style sauce is far too sweet for my package so I asked for their Piedmont option, expecting a Lexington-style concoction. What I got was more reminiscent of ketchup mixed with vinegar, lots of sugar and some coarse ground black pepper. Sending a theme here? Avoid the typical sauce options unless you really like sugar. The beans were also oversaturated with sweetness. But the mac & cheese was nice, as they'd included some little chunks of cooked peppers into the mix for a bit of extra flavor. Is the food okay here? Sure, in terms of it being edible. And I'm sure there may be potential patrons who want their barbecue sauce syrupy sweet and who don't have their expectations based on a wealth of solid barbecue experiences. 2.75 stars in my book.
